Insect Tamer's Ascension
Chapter 156 - 156: Clara's awake (1)

"What will the process be like from now on? Will it just be between Sir Knight and Father?" Theo asked.

When he thought about this, he relaxed a little; he had already heard rumors that Rhys was close to the Baron—one could call him his left-hand man.

"The only reason I told you about it, again, is because our training can come to a halt for some time, young master. Practice all the things I have taught you dearly till I come back," Rhys spoke and got up.

Elias was standing with the support of the wall in the back; he had a serious expression.

"But…" Theo spoke again and got up, yet when Rhys side-glanced at him while walking, Theo stopped speaking. Rhys was done talking.

Theo sat back again and contemplated the situation in his mind. Such a simple thing as going to the forest had taken such a bad turn; he couldn't help but feel weird.

"Young master," Elias spoke, and Theo only nodded, as if asking him to just speak.

"This complaint, if I understand it correctly, doesn't just stop with the Baron. This is an external complaint," Elias spoke.

He finally grabbed Theo's attention.

"Is this a lot more serious than I think it is, Elias?"

"… You don't have to worry about it, young master. Knight Rhys is a very renowned person in the Barony. And he was right—it is not the first time that a complaint has been filed against a Merrick knight. They… are famous for being a bit wild sometimes," Elias spoke with a light smile.

"But this could get him punished because the situation is different. It's not just being rude or wild against a noble, young master. Knight Rhys killed a tamed beast of a tamer that was backed by a noble family," Elias spoke again and continued,

"Nobles tend to take this a lot more seriously because they take it as something that can tarnish their reputation."

Theo looked at Elias and thought about it, "You are quite knowledgeable about the nobility, Elias. Good job," Theo stated.

Elias just gave a small bow with a smile, taking the praise, "These things just come with experience, young master. Although you, on the other hand, will learn it later in age through the Barony—oh, and in the academy too."

Theo just nodded, "Elias, tell me something. Can you find what noble family filed the complaint without anyone knowing I asked for it?" Theo asked with a knowing smile.

Elias looked at Theo with a second of surprise, "That is one of the things I specialize in, young master. Leave it to me—I will start asking around the moment my shift is over."

"No, go right now."

"Youn—"

"Go right now. I am safe in my own castle, Elias. And I will be meeting with Sara first, then both my big brothers. You can leave now."

It took quite a few minutes to make Elias understand this, and when Theo finally did, a sigh of exhaustion left his mouth. Elias was a lot more stubborn than Clara when it came to duties.

After continuing his training for a little while more, Theo made his way to first change his sweaty clothes and then went to the infirmary.

When Theo saw the person he wanted to meet first in the infirmary, he shouted to get her attention,

"Hello, Doctor!"

All the doctors halted for a moment and looked at him before moving around again; only one of them stopped and seemed to chuckle.

"Evening, young master. Has your training already finished?" the doctor asked with a genuine smile.

For some time, Theo had bonded with Clara's doctor. At first, it was just some light conversation about how long she would take to heal and if she was okay. But now, Theo conversed with her about different types of things—it was mainly just about medicine, yet they touched many topics.

"Yes, Sir Knight left early today," Theo stated before coming to the topic,

"How is she today? Any progress?"

When the doctor heard the question, she smiled warmly. With a tap on Theo's shoulder as if praising him, she pointed at the door of Clara's recovery room.

"Why don't you check the progress with your own eyes?"

When Theo heard that, he couldn't help but have a good feeling about this. Since she was on the bed, Theo hadn't seen her open her eyes yet—it was aching his heart seeing her so lifeless on the bed. If not for her breathing to be steady, Theo didn't think he could even look at her.

KNOCK KNOCK

He opened the door and heard the sound of claws hitting on the floor tiles.

WOOF!

"Hahaha…! I brought something for you." When Theo saw the pup come lovingly toward him, he quickly crouched down and ruffled its ears before bringing something out of his pocket.

"Here."

In Theo's hand, there was a small bone, yet the pup's reaction said otherwise. It quickly snatched the bone from his hand and went to the side to chew on it.

When Theo finally looked in the front, his body froze completely. So many emotions erupted out at the same time that he did not know which one to feel properly first.

The doctor smiled warmly and quickly went out of the room and closed it behind her. She knew they needed privacy.

"Clara…" Theo muttered in a pained yet happy voice.

On the bed, Clara was sitting upright for the first time, looking at Theo with that same expression.

She looked at Theo from up and down for a moment before a warm chuckle came out of her mouth,

"You have become muscular in my absence, young master. You might even be taller now," she stated.

Theo started walking toward her slowly and stopped right beside her. Clara's face was looking so healthy and charming right now that he couldn't help but gently place a hand on the side of her face.

Before Clara could say anything, Theo came closer and gave her a gentle hug so as to not hurt her anywhere—he didn't know if she had healed properly or not.

"I missed you so much," he stated and kept his head deeper toward her shoulder.

Before he knew it, a trickle of tear came down his cheek.

Yet they were tears of happiness—Clara was finally awake, and Theo felt happiness burst out of his heart once again.
