Insect Tamer's Ascension
Chapter 155 - 155: Problem comes knocking at home

Theo did not know what to think about it. Some beast was following them and if it belonged to someone they just spied on, then it meant Rhys just killed someone's beast as if it was nothing.

But then again, he had given them the opportunity—they had fled for that reason. Theo couldn't help but think the group was dumb. If they saw someone riding on a wyvern, why would they make their beast tail such a creature? And that too with the help of an eagle-type bird.

'Finally…' When Theo saw the silhouette of the castle, he took a sigh of relief. He was finally back home.

He landed on the balcony again, and Theo hopped off the wyvern quickly. When he was near its face, the wyvern looked at Theo with its big sharp snake-like eyes.

Theo moved his hands slowly and kept it at its neck before ruffling it. The wyvern looked at Theo for a moment before it moved its face away, yet it did not stop Theo from doing so.

"Stop taking young master's time, you lizard." Rhys spoke with a yawn, making the wyvern hiss in a very reptile-like way. The sound was not helping it's case at all.

Theo looked at the ape and Elias sitting on the ground with a traumatic experience.

While the ape felt excited as if it had just got off a kid's ride and wanted to go again, Elias, on the other hand, looked at the ground with a dazed expression.

Theo did not want to smile, much less laugh. Yet for some reason, he could not hold on to his laugh from coming out.

Elias looked up at the laughing Theo and only chuckled. Nobody knew what he went through if they weren't in the same situation.

The ape helped Elias to get up, and when its task was over, it made some ape-like sounds and tried going down the balcony as if its break had started.

Yet soon enough, Elias only smirked, and when the ape saw that, it didn't even have time to get angry before he went back to the beast space through the forehead.

Theo only shook his head, and when Rhys came to him, his face became serious.

"I will report this situation to master when he comes back. You should rest till then. Our training will start again in the morning." Rhys spoke before he made the wyvern get inside the beast space too. At the very end of it becoming a light, Theo could swear that he could see the wyvern's eye roll before it disappeared.

He looked at the mantis in his pocket and caressed its head gently, "I will never do this to you after level 5, okay?" he spoke.

"Everybody says that, young master."

"What do you mean?"

"You will see."

Soon, Theo was back in his room, and after a little rest, he started feeling a lot more restless.

While the adventures in the forest were always adrenaline-filled, Theo didn't actually do anything that would make his youthful body tired.

The most tiring thing about his days was being stuck in a carriage for some hours, which he didn't even do because of the knight's wyvern.

His whole day forward went in training his own body and the mantis's abilities.

After engaging with the level 7 boar, one thing was clear—he was still not ready. And if he was still not ready to defeat a level 7 beast while the mantis was level 4, then there was no point in leveling up.

This time, Theo determined in his heart that he wouldn't be getting inside the forest until his mantis's skill and his knight training would be at a level that the trip would finally be worthwhile.

When he woke up the next day and went for training, he got to know that both his mother and father were still not in the barony. Apparently, there was a big meeting about something that they both had to attend urgently.

It was his brother Lucien that got angry on his behalf and decided to find the group that had disrupted their hunt. But after Theo told him how Rhys cut one of the group's beasts into two pieces—

Lucien finally calmed down, yet still, it was time for Theo to get rebuked. Bram was also the same about this when he got to know about the situation.

It seemed how Theo was progressing with this strength was not liked by most of them. It was dangerous, to say the least, and that Theo respected.

Just like that, six days passed.

Theo did his best to train with the sword. The one thing that was holding him back was his small body. But he had to do with what he had, so he persisted.

The one who was progressing the best was the mantis. Its abilities still didn't see that bottleneck that many talked about, and it was what drove Theo to work harder.

Time seemed to pass peacefully with only trainings when finally, something out of the blue happened.

IN THE PRESENT,

"There was a complaint against you?" Theo asked with a horrified expression. Both Rhys and he were seated under the peaceful shadow of the big tree inside the training area.

"I am only telling you this as your training with me could come at a halt if things get serious," Rhys spoke with a light yawn.

"Do you know who complained against you?" Theo asked instantly. He didn't care about the training more than what was happening right now.

Something made him feel that this was related to the situation they faced in the forest.

Rhys looked at Theo for a few seconds before a sigh left his lips, "…It's nothing major, young master. Things like these are quite common for the Merrick Barony. We get complaints against us all the time." Rhys spoke.

Theo looked at him with a frown. Since when was this a thing?

"Although…" Rhys spoke again, "This time, it's from another Baron family. And the complaint is about me killing a beast of a tamer that was backed by them, so…"

Theo just fell back and kept his head on the ground. This shitty luck he had was really hitting everyone of the barony.
