Chapter 368 - Bringing the third husband home

Chapter 368: Chapter 368 - Bringing the third husband home

Early morning, on the fourth day since Dimitri and I arrived in Arista, we finally prepared to go to my hometown. We left our well wishes and goodbyes to the elderly couple, now grandparents to the both of us with the promise of visiting whenever we can afterwards.

Me and my husband have decided in advance to go to Arista first and then teleport to my hometown from here. This will give the impression that we have spent the whole week of the academe break back in Dimitri’s hometown. We also did this to ensure that we can secure all the things we brought to Arista with us, making the people think that we are accompanying the elderly couple as well. I have also made sure that the barriers I have placed before are faultless and reinforced with my mana.

During the short three days of our stay, Dimitri and I have helped out as much as we can to set up all the improvements that were previously planned in the hacienda. We got down and dirty, plowing the ground, planting seeds and saplings and even with the setting up of the barns, sheds, ponds and pigsties for the animals we have brought. We want to ensure to lessen the workload on grandma and grandpa by working closely with the farm workers, ensuring that everything is down correctly the first time.

Dimitri and I decided to choose our teleportation point to be inside our shared bedroom in the Vacarro estate. Dimitri who always looked like everything was under his control and calculations, was now looking pale and scared. I held his hand tight and gave him a nod of assurance that everything will be alright.

I have already told him in advance that there is a chance that he will feel unbearably uncomfortable or might even up fainting due to the sudden change in the amount of mana in the surroundings. This was based on the what happened to the two previous husbands upon their arrival in Eieneos. He gave me a small smile as he responded, "I understand. Just make sure to catch me and don’t let me hit the ground."

I couldn’t help but chuckle at his cunning response. I rolled my eyes and whispered my response to his ear, as I said, "Of course, I won’t. I won’t let you get hurt after bringing you there. I will get scolded not only by our grandparents but also my parents too for being careless. I will never hear the end of it."

After our short conversation, the ground lit up as our teleportation started. It only took a few seconds for us to reappear right in the middle of the plaza in Eieneos. Though it only have been a couple of weeks since I was here, the improvements were drastic. The difference between one man working and four men working on a project was really noticeable.

I would have loved to check on the kingdom further but my worries for Dimitri swallowed all those thoughts as my eyes immediately went to where he was standing. His face was looking forward, his mouth agape and his eyes were darting all around him. All I could think of as the moment was, "Wow! That’s a different reaction."

Dimitri seemed to have been shocked and at the same time confused with everything he was seeing. I pulled his hand a bit to bring him back to the present. His head immediately looked at my direction, shock still showing in his face. He started to ask, "Where- Why-" It seemed that he couldn’t even make full sentences from his shock.

I smiled at him in amusement and replied, "I will answer all of your questions later. Let’s go to my house and have you meet my parents first, okay?" He could only nod absentmindedly and follow me as I pulled him to the direction of the palace.

I purposely walked a bit slower since I am still scared that he could pass out anytime if he exerted to much of his stamina. I also noticed how his eyes shimmered with the large assortment of flowering plants in the palace gardens. Coming from a family who owned a huge expanse of land and loved farming, he would surely be interested in them.

The usual walked of less than 10 minutes from the plaza to the palace lasted almost 20 minutes. We walked slowly letting my husband enjoy the fresh air mixed with the fragrance of flowers and also letting his body slowly get accustomed with the rich mana in the air of this place.

Once we are only a few meters away from the palace and seeing the high walls from afar, Dimitri suddenly stopped walking and pulled my hand back. I was startled a bit and looked back in confusion. He then looked at me and asked, "Aren’t that those walls too high for something that is just protecting a house, my wife?"

I chuckled at his reaction and answered, "Well, it is my house though it is way bigger than most people’s houses for sure. Come on, let’s hurry. My parents should be waiting excitedly to meet you. This is the first time they will be meeting a son-in-law that is awake, you know?"

He looked at me with a furrowed brow at first and then as if realizing something, his eyes widened in realization as his mouth opened and mouthing an "oh". He then muttered under his breath, "The other two were unconscious, I guess. Well, who would expect that being a child of my mother and inheriting her blood would bring this type of unexpected blessing."

It was my turn to look at him in confusion. He looked at me with his nonchalant face and declared, "I will also answer all of your questions later." as he grinned at me naughtily. He has learned how to fight back from my teasing, huh?

I pulled him through the entrance of the palace walls and without stopping, knocked on the main door of the palace. The door immediately swung open as my mother and father welcomed me inside excitedly with big smiles on their faces. Their eyes wondered on to my arms then at my shoulders and I couldn’t help but smile and shake my head. They must be wondering why I wasn’t carrying an unconscious husband.

Dimitri finally showed himself as he straightened his body from behind me. It was his idea to hide by crouching down behind me like a kid. He greeted my mother and my father and called them as such with a smile on his face. My parents were stunned at first and then they looked at me as if asking me to explain why this one isn’t unconscious. I shrugged my shoulders and just walked in with my husband in tow.

I looked around the living room and besides the four of us, nobody is in sight. They might not be visible right now but I can fee several living beings lurking around the palace in the shadows, observing me and the newbie I brought. They must have all been originally here, waiting for my arrival but when they noticed that my companion isn’t unconscious, they hid to avoid scaring him off. They can all be cute and considerate like this at times.

Dimitri and I sat down on the sofa next to each other while my parents sat across from us, also next to each other. The snacks and refreshments magically appeared on the coffee table as they chatted while I just watched in amusement. Eventually, the questions started being asked and answered in turns between my parents and my husband. I kept my silence all along and simply kept holding Dimitri’s hand in mine.

As promised, Dimitri’s questions were asked first. He couldn’t help but notice how young my parents were. They patiently answered all his questions about their age, their secret on staying youthful, why we live in a palace and where is this place. These are all expected questions anyway and my parents seemed to have been quite prepared with their answers.

Once all Dimitri’s questions were answered, it was my parents turn to ask and as expected, the first thing they asked is why Dimitri was able to withstand the high mana density in the air and did not pass out. He smiled widely and answered, "My mother was a mage. As for his family, I don’t know how truthful it was because my mother liked to joke about even serious things. She once told me in passing that her great grandmother had mystique blood which is why she was very pretty and skilled. My father and I simply thought of it as her being overconfident and looking for an excuse for it."

My mother and father looked at each other with questioning looks. They then looked at me to confirm if I knew about it and I simply shook my head. My mother then asked for permission to hold Dimitri’s other hand to do a simple check. She put Dimitri’s palm on hers and closed her eyes. I saw Dimitri’s eyes widened as she stared at my mother’s hand that was touching his palm in surprise.
