Chapter 367: Chapter 367 - The trip back to Arista

After the somewhat awkward meal with the other men in my household, Dimitri and I both went into our own rooms to prepare all the things that we will be bringing with us to our trip back to his hometown. It didn’t take us too long to prepare since I gave my husband an enchanted accessory that functions as storage equipment which made packing up hassle-free for him.

Not even 15 minutes have passed and we are both already out of our respective rooms and started making our way to the gates of the academe. We have arranged for the simple carriage we hired for our travels to wait for us there. As for the other carriages that were part of our convoy, they have been already arranged in advance to wait near the southern gate of Hoffen City. The drivers of the said carriages were instructed to follow our main carriage once they see us making our way out of the city.

As we rode the simple carriage, another carriage arrived which was much grander than ours and had a palace insignia on it. Since I won’t be spending my one-week break in the academe, my other husbands opted to stay in the palace instead. Only Arthur will be left in the academe to take on tasks for points. At least, he will have a bit of rest since he doesn’t have anyone to cook or clean for during the next seven days.

Once the carriage we are using and the remaining convoy has left Hoffen City with us, I immediately casted several layers of spells on the carriage for protection such as speed, defense, invisibility and silence. I also added some for the ease of travel such as spells for reducing surface friction as the wheels hit the uneven roads and lessening the total weight of the carriage and its contents. I did this to also ensure that the horses pulling the carriages would stay healthy even if it needs to pull a huge carriage from the long trip.

Once I was contented that everything is at it should be, I sent Dimitri over first to the Vacarro estate via teleportation so he won’t be too tired from the trip. It would also give him more time to spend with his grandparents instead of traveling by land. As for me, I teleported to the nearest prairies that I have passed by before during the couple of times that I went to the southern direction. I need to replenish my inventory of alchemy materials and ingredients for Uncle Daejung’s alchemy shop.

After my short profitable trips along the way, I finally arrived in Arista after about two hours from the time that I sent Dimitri on his way first, I immediately greeted my grandparents-in-law enthusiastically. They made sure to prepare a delicious meal for the two of us since they said that we do not visit that often.

Since it is only my first day in Arista today, I used my time to have long conversations and stories with my grandparents-in-law as well as touring the farm that I haven’t seen for months. The farm plots look more lively and there are also less areas that are left unused.

The first thing I noticed was the reinforced and higher walls of the estate. I also saw the parts of the estate that were converted into barns and coops for the animals. They have also planted cleared up and tilled the soil of the previously unused farming plots in preparation for the seeds that I will be bringing today. I admire their dedication in following the improvements plans to the tee.

As for checking the improvements for the town, I plan to do it either tonight in a discreet method or openly by tomorrow morning. The town, though smaller compared to others, is part of the Vacarro estate and we have to aim to also make it as profitable as we possibly can.

The architect grandfather and his grandson came by again after receiving a letter from my grandparents-in-law that Dimitri and I have arrived for a visit and an inspection. My afternoon was spent doing in-depth discussion on the completed improvements as well as other improvements that I want to add more as per what I have observed today. They were very eager to take note of my comments and suggestions regarding their work as if learning from a seasoned teacher.

The carriages finally arrived at Arista by the time that the sun is about to set. To avoid confusion and questions from the hired carriage drivers, Dimitri and I made sure to teleport back inside our carriage about half an hour before it is set to arrive at the gates of the Vacarro estate.

Once the carriages arrived, we alighted the carriage as if we have been there all along and knocked on the gates, The elderly couple came out and greeted us joyfully as they cooperated in acting out their designated roles our little skit.

The workers of the estate came out of their homes and quickly helped us in bringing out all the goodies inside the last three carriages of the convoy. I can see the wide smiles on their faces as they saw the large bags of seeds as well as the animals I have brought in the estate to fulfill my promise to make this place more abundant with crops, animals and other manufactured or processed food.

The farmhands were so happy that they immediately brought the animals in their assigned areas. They even started feeding the animals to ensure that they survive the night and get used to their new home the soonest. They are so excited of the things I bought that they would have started planting the seeds and saplings but it is just that the sun has already set. It was simply too dark for them to start working at this instant.

I eventually decided to postpone my visit to the town on that evening to ensure that everything is ready for the mass planting of seeds tomorrow. Dimitri looked at me in surprise then smiled since he realized that I would be spending the night with him since I chose to stay and do farm work.

Much to my husbands dismay, I did not go any further besides doing a kiss and a hug before sleeping. I had to cajole him by assuring him that we will do as many times as he wants during our official honeymoon. After hearing my promise, he finally slept obediently in my embrace.

The next morning was another sumptuous breakfast. After the meal, I had a little date with Dimitri at the town. We did a bit of shopping, trying some of the food in the stalls along the streets just like tourists. This is also my way to see how the town has been doing after it was cleaned up from all the bad stuff I have previously witnessed here. Fortunately, now that I have visited it again after several months, the town has had an overhaul for the better. There were no traces left of it being a filthy place filled with criminal activity before.

After our early morning date, we came back to the estate. Dimitri took another nap while I had to go to another meeting. After having a few more consultations with Architect Grandpa and his grandson apprentice for other things that I think would make the estate and the town even better, we had nothing much to do or discuss.

Since I wanted to make sure that everything is done right, I decided to help with farming instead to ensure that all the seeds will be planted as soon as possible. I also made sure to give advise to the farmhands assigned to planting of seeds on how to take care of each plant. Honestly, I enjoy farming once in a while since it is very relaxing for me.

After everything that needs to be handled in the estate and the town has been completed, I spent the remaining day or two just managing the planting areas and the animals areas. I made sure to teach the farmhands how to take care of the animals correctly. Our goal is to increase the animal population for food as well as get money from selling the produce and all other products made from them.

Dimitri and I only stayed in Arista for about four days so that he can make up for the time he isn’t able to visit his grandparents. The last three days will then be spent back in my hometown so he can meet my parents and the other people living in my kingdom.

When the day to leave finally came, Dimitri’s face was a mix of sadness due to the need to leave his old folks again, nervousness since he will be going to a new place and will be meeting my side of the family and finally the usual worry about not being liked by my parents enough. I simply smiled at him and told him that he will do just fine since my parents are really nice.

He looked at me and gave me a nervous smile then he simply held my hand tight with his sweaty ones. I stole a kiss from his cheek as a magic circle that I have just finished chanting appeared beneath our feet. It is finally time to bring Dimitri to Eieneos.
