Chapter 71: Lecture Again

All this while, Jayden had been away from school because of the task, but after returning, at least he tried creating time to attend lectures.

The exam was already a month and a few days away, which meant he would have to take his academics a little more seriously now.

He rode straight to the parking lot of the Business Faculty building, almost all eyes on him since they could recognize who had arrived through his car.

"That’s Jayden. He finally resumed!"

"Oh my God, he got cuter."

"I thought I was the only one noticing that..."

"He gained weight too... Bro probably left the country for a big vacation."

As he stepped out of the car, he heard several talks from different angles. Jayden didn’t mind or pay any attention as he left the scene and walked straight into the building.

He seemed to have gotten in late, as the lecturer was already in the class. But Jayden calmly walked in after waving at the lecturer, who gave him a soft glare.

"Jayden Cole, you’re lucky we haven’t gotten far," the lecturer said casually before turning away.

This was the same lecturer present the other day when Jayden answered a question Royce couldn’t. It was good that he could recognize the young man, who had now gotten even smarter-looking than before.

Sure, even the professors on campus already knew the news of Emerson Cole’s son becoming a millionaire overnight with his great influence growing... at his young age.

It was something to admire.

There in class...

Paula was present.

Luka was present.

Richy and Royce were present.

Sofia... she was present as well.

It was a thick day, but Jayden stayed cool, being signaled by Paula from one end to come sit near her.

Jayden didn’t hesitate, even after noticing the cold stares from all sides.

"Hey."

"Hey."

They both greeted, and then focused on the podium before they would anger Professor Nathan.

He continued.

"Alright, class. Quick question. Why does Apple sell iPhones at a premium price, while Xiaomi sells theirs for half the cost, and both still thrive?"

He began with a question.

A few students exchanged glances, as the class stayed silent for a few seconds. Then one student raised her hand.

"Because they have different market strategies?" Maya replied almost confidently.

Professor Nathan nodded at once.

"Exactly. And that’s rooted in competitive advantage. It’s what allows a company to outperform rivals and create superior value."

"Thank you, beautiful lady."

He then drew two circles on the board. One labeled "Cost Leadership" and the other "Differentiation."

"There are two major types. Cost Leadership, like Supermart or Xiaomi, which means being the lowest-cost producer. Then there’s Differentiation, like Apple or Nike, where you charge more because your product feels superior," he said.

He was about to say more when another student raised a hand.

"But isn’t that just branding?"

Professor Nathan gave a soft smile to the question and was certainly forced to explain.

"Ah, branding supports differentiation, but it’s not the full story. Differentiation could come from tech innovation, design, customer service, even emotional connection. That’s why people tattoo the Benz logo on their skin. You think that’s just marketing?"

The class erupted in laughter at that moment, feeling the fun that came with the question.

"Here’s the kicker," he continued. "Sustainable competitive advantage is what keeps you ahead long-term. Think patents, loyal customer base, unique resources, or a damn good story no one can copy..."

The class was a long one, but no one dared say it was a boring one, because it wasn’t.

It was normal that Professor Nathan’s class was the best, and yes, almost every student did well in his course.

The lecture ended after an hour and a half, and they had two more from two different female lecturer... Planning Strategy and Philosophy.

After that, Jayden was good to go.

But then Luka approached him.

"Hey, Jayden. It’s been a while," Luka said, maintaining a smile.

Jayden gave him a stare... A not-so-friendly one, but decided to respond. "Yeah."

"Uhm, I want to say sorry about what happened the other day... Never knew you’ve got such an issue. Sincerely apologize," Luka added.

Jayden was expecting that after all... Luka was dying to be close to him, and he was going to be kind enough till that happened.

"Yeah, it’s alright. No issues," Jayden replied.

Luka then nodded. He stayed silent for a bit and then said again, "She is fighting to make things work. She truly is... I hope I’m not the only one seeing it..."

Jayden flinched and gazed, his eyes dark, but he couldn’t say a word.

"I hope you do what is right, my friend. See you later," Luka said before walking away, still with that smile.

Jayden certainly knew who he was referring to... Naylah. He didn’t want to think much about it and decided to let the thought slide.

(BEEP!)

A notification popped up on his phone.

{Cammy: Hey, Mr. Dangerous! I heard you are on campus today? Get your ass down to the fountain real quick. I can’t miss you any longer}

Jayden let out a chuckle after reading the message directly from the notification bar and then attempted to leave the class.

"Oh, Jayden. Going somewhere? Let’s have a drink somewhere around, yes?"

Paula approached him and asked. He already thought she had left campus a few minutes ago, but no—how would someone with an excellent affection for him leave without saying goodbye?

"Uhh, sure. We can."

Jayden was about to see Camilia, and now Paula had already stepped in the way. But now, Jayden didn’t see that as a problem.

In fact, it was a smart moment to do what he had in mind.

He took Paula to a lounge outside campus at that time, in front of many students who started side talks about Jayden dating another girl...

"Maybe he is just a different version of Royce. He probably dumped Camilia."

"No," a serious-looking guy with messy hair approached the group of gossipers, giving a wry smile.

"That guy is wiser than any man on earth. I think he wants to marry both."

He then turned to another guy standing close to him. "Your sister might be next."
