Chapter 70: The Call

Jayden read the letter aloud, making it easy for Temi to hear clearly.

"I know I fucked up, my love. I know I have wronged and humiliated you. But I still love you, and I need you to forgive me. I have never been myself since I left you."

Jayden chuckled. "Nah, she meant ’since Royce left her.’"

Temi laughed at that as well.

"I know we can sort things out, and I know you still love me. It’s only been a few weeks, and I believe we can get back together. We’ve shared too much to just let things slide easily. Please, Jayden. I love you, and I hope you forgive me and get back to me."

"I will be impatiently waiting."

Jayden gave a wry smile again and turned to Temi. She was staring at him, trying to read his reaction.

Every feeling manifests on the face, so she wanted to detect what was on Jayden’s mind through his expression.

But she sensed nothing... After all, it looked like she didn’t care too much, as a result of being a balanced harem member.

>[She is not part of the plans.]

"I know."

The system also voiced, and instantly, it was as if they both had the same thing in mind.

’The fact that I let her stupid mother join my company doesn’t mean I’m done with them. It’s just a smart move,’ he thought, his face stern.

Soon, he grabbed a lighter from the side and burnt the paper while Temi watched.

"She will be sorry for the rest of her life," he declared.

The rest of the day was spent with Temi, and she happened to have glued herself to him at home.

But it wasn’t a boring moment as usual. Spending time with Temi always brought fun and chill.

She reminded him of his plans to unite the harem, and now that would be happening soon enough.

He would have no choice but to bring the four of them together, and that’s when they’d become powerful enough as the Coles on revival.

Camilia.

Temi.

Paula.

Lynna... Well, she was already part of the harem, but he knew how to handle her differently.

Jayden later figured that she wouldn’t be among the ones to live with him in the villa. But still, he was going to raise her standards and take good care of her, just as he was already doing.

All for a good purpose.

Now, he would try to strengthen the women he had at this point, but he still had his eye on Becky Larkin, who was a good aim to complete one of the tasks.

"Adding her wouldn’t hurt, right?" he muttered to himself, and then he finally made up his mind.

He would go for her while he got the rest of his tasks done.

He couldn’t afford to lose her to someone else just because he wanted to wait a while.

Women are expensive assets a man has to acquire before another man does.

Jayden had that line in mind.

At the end of the day...

Everything was progressing.

Mara was already living under the protection of the Vanes after the first court meeting. They couldn’t afford to risk it because they knew Gregory was a vile figure.

That way, she would be safe there until everything was over. It might appear time-consuming and risky, but Silas had paid her $200,000 to stand strong. After all, she was just testifying to the truth. He also promised to pay an additional $300,000 if they won the case.

That was a huge deal, and the fact that it was simply to reveal the truth convinced her even more.

A day after the first meeting, at night, she suddenly received a call from an unknown contact.

Mara was someone who valued her life a lot, so she hesitated to answer the call to prevent any unwanted issues.

She had doubts, for sure, but she was also tempted. The call came repeatedly until she got nervous, figuring it might be something important from someone she cared about.

Something similar to that.

So she decided to pick up, alone inside the well-furnished building given to her in the estate.

"Hello? Who’s this?" she said immediately after picking up the call.

"Mom! Mommy! Help us!"

Mara’s heart clenched at once.

"Jeff! Je... What hap—"

"Hey, young Miss Mara."

A bassy voice suddenly interrupted. She stood there with her eyes widened in shock, her jaw dropped as she panicked.

"Who is this? Who are you?! What are you doing with my son?!"

"About to kill him... What else?" The voice sounded clear yet nonchalant, like someone who would do something insanely cruel without remorse.

"No, no... No, please. Please don’t kill my son. I beg you. What do you want? I’ll do anything," she began pleading, sobbing hard in fear.

"What do we want? It’s simple. We want you to fix the error you made at court yesterday. Real quick, deny your testimony before the court. Tell them it was all a lie.

Tell them that Silas forced you to do it, threatening to kill you if you didn’t. Say the recording was AI. Apologize to them, make everything clear in whatever way you can. And then, we’ll let your children go."

Mara almost collapsed.

"My children? You have all of them?"

"We have your lovely husband too... The one you left my father’s company to be with just in the name of love. Tch. Now you have to save him, or you’re going to lose him, just the same way you’re going to lose your beautiful kids," the voice said.

"No, no, no, please! I’ll do what you say. Please don’t hurt them. I beg you," she said, her face wet as tears trickled down her temples, repeatedly.

"Good. You have until the next meeting. We are watching closely and patiently. Deny your testimony. Save your family..."

"It’s only a fool that would sacrifice her family for some ungrateful rich sons of bitches."

That was the last statement she heard before the call ended, leaving her sobbing like a baby, her face dark, her heart filled with fear.
