Chapter 67: Becky Larkin (II)

"This year’s Grammy Awarding Event was a bang. From the heartfelt presentations to the stunning performances, then to the most talked-about part, which was the newly awarded Grammy winner, Becky Larkin, blasting her ex-boyfriend after receiving her award. It was a great view to watch," the first of two entertainment news reporters voiced from the TV.

"Absolutely! It was said to have been a motivational statement from her to all ladies out there: NEVER TO GIVE UP no matter what. She is more than just a star... an idol," the second reporter added.

"With her award well-deserved and her influence growing, we seem to have gotten another gem in the world of entertainment."

"Also nominated for the Singer of the Decade Award, her fame is soaring like lightning. Becky Larkin. She’s on top of the world!"

...

"Hmm," Jayden gave an impressed nod at the news, taking a look at the trending star at the side of the TV.

Becky Larkin.

Jayden had already heard about her and her album Electric, which had skyrocketed past the best-trending songs before her arrival.

The most interesting part was that she was from Nortasia, marking her as the first-ever music star from Nortasia to win the award.

Jayden was just switching from one channel to another before the news caught his attention, and now he was impressed.

Not just by the hype and flattery around her, but by her undeniable beauty that made his eyes roll countless times.

Just then, he suddenly remembered something.

[Task #013 (Silver Level): Make a popular celebrity fall in love with you. Raise her Affection to 100%!]

[Rewards: $20 Million Dollars. +7 Charm. +5 Influence.]

Jayden’s eyes widened after recollecting that he had such a similar mission to his thought.

Of course, he had already taken a liking to her, and he wouldn’t mind getting her for himself... Now that he had remembered he had a very similar task, why not get on with it?

A smile appeared on his face.

"Okay... We’ve got another job to do," he nodded and shrugged.

Soon, he went straight to finding more details about her to know how he was going to shoot his shot. Of course, he knew it was going to be a difficult deal, but there was a fair chance that this beautiful lady was still single.

Jayden was more sure than doubtful about that.

{Becky Larkin’s Biography}

{Becky Larkin was born in 2024 to Teresa and Jonah Larkin in the Roseland State of Nortasia. She moved to NorthVille when she was eighteen to pursue her music career and started lowly before finally releasing her hit album Electric, which led her to great fame and wealth...}

Jayden shook his head.

"Not the details I want," he muttered and scrolled down.

Then he came to a stop when he saw an icon.

{Becky Larkin’s Relationship Status}

"Here we go," he quickly clicked and began to read.

{Becky Larkin had widely announced that she is single and not searching, stating that she wants to be alone for the meantime. It was stated that her ex-boyfriend’s abandonment when she needed him the most had broken her.}

"Oh, ah... Here’s where the problem is," Jayden’s jaw dropped as he reread.

"She doesn’t need a man, and that’s going to be challenging. But hey, I’m going to shoot my shot," he smiled with a determined look.

This was something he would love to do, and he couldn’t wait to get on with it.

"First, I’ll have to figure out where to find her, and then I’ll approach her prideful ass!"

After what he had done to win Camilia, he knew that Becky wouldn’t be much different — even though she was going to be a bit more difficult.

After all, he wasn’t doing anything on his own...

He’s got his Charm Attribute by his side with every approach he made to every woman he had an interest in.

Another task being carried out. He marked it.

...

Jayden later visited the mansion to check on the progress of the renovation of the house. It was going fine as expected, and with the abundant workforce, everything was going as planned.

"We’ll be done in less than a week, sir. That’s a clear assurance," the head engineer stated.

"That’s great to hear... I’ll keep checking in then," Jayden replied brightly before leaving.

...

He visited Zintech next as well, getting reports about the progress of the projects.

This time, Sabrina was asked to gather all the reports and had to report to him alone, by his orders.

With that, he also tried discussing her satisfaction with the progress rate, because he knew that Sabrina was always honest when it came to talks about the company.

She had always been that way, and there was no doubt she would remain that way.

This was one of the female workers whose loyalty didn’t need to be earned through affection. Apart from the fact that she wasn’t romantically attracted to him, she was also a free-minded figure.

No wonder the previous owner held her tighter than anyone else in the company. Remarkable, he thought.

"Sir. Here," she gave him the reports.

"Good. Wanted to have a word with you," Jayden said, his tone as polite to her as usual.

Sabrina nodded as she sat after he asked her to. Her eyes were sharp, highly spirited for a conversation with her boss.

"How has the project been? As much as it’s been going smoothly, I want to hear your fair take on it. Across all departments," Jayden asked.

"Well... I’ll say they are doing good. At least all the workers have been forced to adapt to the new policy. I made sure to notify them that any error could lead to eviction. The work rate has greatly increased, thanks to your favoring influence," she replied.

Jayden shook his head. "No, I should be thanking you for your hard work."

Sabrina smiled. She didn’t give a direct reply to that, but she took it as a compliment.

"But I have a troubling complaint."

"Okay?" Jayden nodded.

"We have an alarming number of interests from several professional geniuses on our list. The Post Manager couldn’t just send them away because of their high qualifications. She had to pend them until we reported to you."

Jayden nodded. "That’s smart."

"Mostly tech geniuses. A few are from Skyworld Tech University in Rotherland."

Jayden’s eyes widened in amazement. "Really?"

But the fact that there was no free spot for new employees made it a challenge.

Jayden himself felt pressured for a moment... He needed a solution to not lose these talented individuals in this competitive business world.

Just then...

Something seemed to snap in his brain...

"Technology..."

"Why not establish another technological branch within Zintech?"

Sabrina looked up, slightly confused.

"Sir?"

"Mobile phone production?"

"No... App creation?"

> [Good idea.]

The system voiced.

Jayden nodded.

"That’s another huge project... An insanely profitable one."

With the Jayden identity, he could still go wild against the world if the plan becomes a success.

The Kingsleys has been sued and had been called to court again.

Cloudbridge City was buzzing, as any issues that has to with the Vanes and the Kingsleys was a big talk, especially when the Vanes, who had been known to be the Kingsleys’ biggest allies was now supporting their enemy.

It was indeed a blast.

"As soon as this is over, your husband will get his revenge," Kurtis told Naylah as they stepped down from the car that had led them to the Supreme High Court.

"We are just starting... Why are you so ahead of the present?" Naylah asked, curious.

"Well, because the future is sure..." Kurtis smiled.

"Once one’s aware of the success in the future, one wouldn’t want to wait for the present."

Now that was a smart he made, but Naylah never appeared impressed.

"I’m doing this for my husband and my son, because I know it’s the only way he can forgive me..." Naylah hesitated before saying.

Kurtis nodded, giving her an understanding look. "Sure he would forgive his mother. If you prove yourself back to him. He has every right to be mad at you, but same way, you have every right to be his mother again."

Naylah gave him a short stare and shook her head.

"No. I’m not sure he would ever take me as his mother again..."

"Why not?" Kurtis’s brows furrowed.

"I have done more than he knows. I have hurt him more than he could imagine. But, coming back to fight for his father is all that I can do to relief the burden I’m feeling," Naylah said.

Kurtis now became more confused, not understanding where she was actually going to.

But he tried to stay calm while he listened to her.

At that moment, Naylah raised her right and her showed him her hands.

Kurtis viewed a silver ring.

"A marriage ring... You are married of course. We know that," Kurtis replied.

"No..."

Naylah blinked.

"This ring is not for his father..."

It was then that Kurtis understood, reacting with a slight flinch.

What she revealed without a word was still easily understandable.

"I have three kids."
