Chapter 62: Emily’s Surprise Show
(The Vane Mansion)
Kurtis, Silas, Luka, and Naylah were already set to strike. As Silas had said, there was not much time to waste.
The last thing he wanted was to see Gregory go on successfully with completing his plans...
The Grand Development Project.
He wouldn’t let that happen.
They settled in the large luxurious living room again for their meeting. Since Naylah was already living in the Vane Statement, it was no longer hard to fetch her.
"We heard about the renovation of the Cole Family’s home being carried out by your son. News had it that he is even expanding and increasing the modernity," Kurtis began, smiling at Naylah, whose reaction was perplexed.
She never knew about that.
"You should also be aware of his new ownership of Zintech Automobile. Your son’s now carrying out a new reviving project that the entire state is watching out for... You should be proud," Kurtis added.
At that point, Naylah suddenly got emotional, not even knowing when a tear gushed down, but she quickly wiped it off and nodded, forcing a smile.
A smile that held both pride and regret at the same time.
They could clearly sense it.
"Ah, okay... Let’s get straight to the main cause of this meeting, please," Silas, who had been observing, quickly cut in.
Although he might have been helping the Coles for their mutual benefit, that didn’t mean he wanted to get too drawn into their emotional issues.
He was a straight man who never joked with the value of time, even though it might lead to being strict.
Kurtis and Naylah nodded at once.
Then Luka heaved a deep sigh before standing up.
There were some other figures with them, people who would play a huge role in this ride. The amazing thing was that Luka had been the one carrying this, and the son who would have to impress his father and prove his worth as the future Leader of the Vanes.
Since Kurtis never had a child, his wealth was likely to be inherited by Luka as well, and Kurtis had even made it clear that he’d find pleasure in that.
Luka stood, bold, as he cleared his throat.
"We will begin with Mrs. Naylah Cole bringing up the case of her husband and adding accusation of his death to Gregory Kingsley and his subordinates. After that, the Vanes would render full support, both financially and physically, including being present in every judgment in the court and bringing proofs."
Silas and Kurtis nodded.
Naylah felt fine a bit, as she heaved a sigh of relief.
"Also, I have one more person to add, Father. If you can allow me?" Luka turned to his father and asked.
Silas gave him a sharp stare and hesitated, and it was only when Kurtis gave him an assuring look that he nodded.
Then, Luka approached the door and opened it, just as if there was something waiting outside.
And it was true...
A female figure stepped into the building, dressed in a sleek black dress with glasses on. Almost everyone in the room recognized her except Naylah.
"Emily Kingsley??? Luka, are you out of your mind?!!!"
Silas stood up with burning eyes, stunned by what he just saw.
But Luka was rather calm with a bold look.
"At least hear me out, Father. If you keep attacking me for everything I do, then what difference would it be when I support my former best friend’s family?" Luka glared.
Silas’s jaw dropped, his eyes slightly widened.
It was indeed the first time Luka had stood tall and attacked his father for attacking him.
That was the start of him becoming a man, and even Kurtis was amazed.
"It’s okay. Let’s hear the young man out," Kurtis said, smiling with relaxation.
Staring at Luka with that fatherly look on his face, Kurtis listened. And even Silas had no choice but to sit back and listen.
"Emily, my girlfriend, is willing to help us," Luka began.
"What?! Are you believing her? She might just be a spy," Silas shouted.
"Dad! Let me talk," Luka cut in, his eyes dark.
Kurtis pleadingly signaled Silas to calm down and remain silent until his son was done.
"I trust her. Though she wouldn’t directly be with us, she would be giving us information every required time. She initially overheard Royce’s plan of blackmailing Jayden with illegal drug use on his trending café shop..."
Naylah’s eyes widened in fear, as her heart seemed to jump, but then the completion of his statement made her calm at once.
"But, Jayden appeared to have overcome, as the smart man that he is," Luka smiled and continued. "Emily would be willing to help us with any way she can. For me... For the Coles... Because she knows her father is guilty. I want us all to trust her, just the way I have."
Everyone in the room exchanged blank glances, like they literally had no option in mind.
But...
"I’ll trust Emily Kingsley," Kurtis was the first to step up.
And then Lana, one of the figures joining the ride, followed.
Then the next, Alan, joined.
"I’ll do anything for the success of my husband’s vengeance."
Then it was Naylah with a really sharp, serious look.
Silas was the last, of course, but he had no choice. One thing that had made him always trust the process was because of his brother.
And this wasn’t an exception.
They all finally agreed, and Emily was allowed to sit with them.
As someone madly in love with Luka, it was almost understandable that she was doing this.
But almost everyone wondered.
Why would she want to support the people trying to bring down her father with her father and brother’s lives at stake because of her boyfriend?
It was highly questionable, but for a start, they’d just have to trust Luka.

Inside the grand living room of the Kingsley Estate, the atmosphere was quiet but heavy.
Royce sat on one of the leather armchairs, his fingers tapping lightly against the armrest. His father, Gregory, sat opposite him, swirling a glass of aged whiskey, his eyes calm but sharp as always.
After a moment of silence, Royce spoke up.
"Father, the three men I sent to stir up trouble at Jayden’s Monarch Café failed."
Gregory’s eyes lifted slightly, but his face showed no surprise.
"They failed?"
"Yes," Royce sighed. "They were supposed to accuse him of mixing cocaine in the coffee drinks, make the health authorities shut the place down and even get him arrested. But they couldn’t pull it off... Guess they were bad at the job."
Gregory raised a brow and asked simply, "And how did you deal with them?"
A dark grin crept onto Royce’s lips. "I made sure they won’t fail anyone else again."
Gregory took a slow sip of his whiskey and nodded approvingly. "Good. Failures should be handled accordingly."
Royce straightened himself and added, "But I’ve already thought of another way to stop him..."
"No need," Gregory cut in, lowering his glass. "Jayden Cole isn’t the problem anymore."
Royce blinked in surprise. "But..."
"He already pulled out from the Vanes," Gregory said calmly. "That boy had one shot to become a real threat. But now, he stepped back. That was his only play. Without the Vanes’ backing, he’ll fade away in time."
Gregory’s tone shifted slightly as he continued, his eyes narrowing. "The real problem now... is Naylah Cole."
Royce frowned, his father’s words sinking in.
"His Mother?"
Gregory gave a small nod. "Yes. Emerson’s wife. She’s the one keeping the Vanes’ plans standing. Her influence, her silent moves, her contacts... She’s playing her own game behind the scenes. Jayden might have some money, but Naylah is the real shield, for now."
Royce clenched his fists slightly but remained quiet.
Gregory leaned back. "Don’t worry. I’ve already made plans for every angle. Whether it’s the dead Emerson, Naylah, or anyone else, I’m ready for whatever they throw at me."
Gregory was confident with that statement, as always. He was ready to dominate with his intense and wide connection together with his masterpiece planners. It was hard for him to lose any battle he faced.
And his son, Royce, was confident.
Just then, the heavy doors burst open, and one of the bodyguards rushed in, sweat dripping down his forehead.
"Sir! Emily isn’t home!" the man announced quickly.
Gregory’s face instantly darkened.
"What do you mean she isn’t home?" he asked coldly, dark glints appearing at the corner of his eyes.
The guard swallowed hard. "We don’t know how she left. None of the men saw her leave, sir."
Royce stood up from his chair, furious. "And you call yourselves guards? Useless! Do you even know what your job is?"
The guard lowered his head, shaking. He didn’t say a word to that, but one could clearly sense the silent plea from him.
Gregory rose from his seat slowly, his expression cold as ice. He thought wide for a moment before speaking.
"When she returns, lock her in her room. She shouldn’t step her foot out of this villa until further notice."
"Yes, sir!" the guard responded immediately and rushed out.
Gregory paused for a moment, then glanced at Royce before walking toward his chambers.
"Soon it would be time. Get ready. I want to see the future Head of the Kingsley Family in intense action."
Royce smiled at that, insane eagerness boiling in his blood.
"The Coles... The Vanes... Watch out for your miserable fall!"
