Chapter 59: Dungeon Raid (2)
『 Welcome To The A-Rank Dungeon: Corrupted Forest 』
『 May The Blessings Of The Goddess Sylvia Be With You 』
The Central Platform.
It was a mechanism created by the first dean of the academy and leader of the first generation.
It was a kind of pocket world where various cleared dungeons could be sealed and re-enacted exactly as they were before their clearing.
The environment, monsters, and every other element remained the same.
However, since it was still a spell that sealed multiple dungeons inside a single portal, individuals with enough knowledge of spatial magic could manipulate the gates and merge the dungeons, creating an extremely difficult and unstable sealed world.
Usually, the gate was meticulously maintained, as events like the sports festival, entrance exams, advancement tests, ruin explorations, and environmental research were all conducted there.
But this time, the academy had grown complacent. Because of that, the demons and other allied races managed to get their hands on the control manual and alter it.
In total, 175 students entered the test: 100 from the first years and 75 from the second years.
But after the incident, only 100 students returned alive—40 from the second years and just 60 from the first years.
Arthur drew in a deep, stuttering breath as the light from the gate slowly faded.
Around him stood the 175 students participating in the test.
"Hey Arthur..." Karma called as she approached.
Arthur turned to her, and she smiled brightly.
"So, how about our teams work together?"
"I guess it isn’t a bad idea," Arthur replied, weighing the risk of merging their teams from the start.
"Right?" she said eagerly.
Karma, Vicky, Cale, Eric, and Winter were part of one team, while Arthur, Cassie, Ellie, Amelia, and Seraph made up the other.
It would’ve been in his best interest to join them, especially since he already knew most of the dungeon’s paths.
But that would mean the points they earned along the way would be split between the two groups.
And knowing his luck, it wasn’t hard to imagine a scenario where all the enemies would end up targeting him.
Besides, he wanted to spend time with his wives.
Arthur shook his head. "Since it’s a three-day event, I think it’d be better to split up for the first two days and regroup on the evening of the second."
Karma turned to Cale, who stood behind her. "You heard the boss, right?"
Cale nodded. "Okay then, we’ll see each other on the second day."
Arthur waved them off as they and the other students dispersed.
No one was eager to fight each other, at least not until everyone had enough points.
Arthur then turned to his wives standing behind him. "Are you all ready?"
They nodded in response.
They were dressed in white shirts, navy blue-colored ribbon ties, and navy blue skirts that started above their waists and ended far above their knees, topped with nude capes styled like blazers.
Arthur wore a white shirt, a long navy blue tie, navy blue trousers, and a long nude colored blazer.
"So, husband, where are we going?" Ellie asked.
Arthur looked out at the dense forest, filled with massive trees, overgrown roots, and thick vines, then answered:
"The center."
They all repeated at once, "The center?"
Yes, the center.
Earlier that morning, before heading to class, Nathira had taught him how to activate more of his demonic dragon bloodline.
Because of that he discovered there were certain abilities all dragons or dragon hybrids had, as well as unique traits among demons and their hybrids—which, in his case, he possessed both.
If he used that ability, locating the mid and final boss of this incident wouldn’t be impossible.
Doing so would buy him time to focus on something far more important.
’This strange event...’ he thought. ’Isn’t it happening too early?’
『 Main Event: Stop The Awakening Of The Spirit Goddess 』
In Magic Academy’s Genius Scholars, Amelia was always a gentle soul who loved people but struggled to talk to them. Paired with her leg condition, forming connections became even harder.
Arthur had believed he changed her fate three years ago.
But it wasn’t that simple.
The Spirit Goddess, Amelia Roderick Valtor.
And the final boss of the first year second semester.
It took everything the academy had to restrain her—even Ha-joon gave up on her at the time.
Afterward, she was sent to Awakened Prison for killing five students during her second awakening as the Spirit Goddess.
Arthur glanced at her. ’This time will be different.’
"I’ve told you all about the system, right?"
Ellie’s grip on her wooden staff tightened. "Did something happen?"
Arthur rubbed his temples. "Well..." He paused. "This isn’t the dungeon we were supposed to enter."
"So someone merged the dungeon?" Amelia asked.
Arthur looked at her, then back at the trees. "Yeah. That’s why we need to reach the center."
He waited for someone to ask why he hadn’t told the others—but no one did.
"Aren’t you going to ask why I didn’t tell everyone?"
"Huh?" they all said at once.
Ellie giggled. "If you didn’t tell them, there must’ve been a reason, right?"
Amelia added, "Asking would mean we don’t trust you."
Cassie walked ahead and said, "If it’s you, then there’s no reason to ask."
Arthur smiled. ’Looks like I’ve been overthinking things.’
He exhaled softly. "Alright then, let’s move for now."
...
The wind brushed past Arthur’s skin as he led the way to the forest’s center.
Tree branches creaked underfoot as they jumped from one branch to another.
Arthur’s plan was simple:
Eat, relax, train, and spend time with his wives until the evening of the second day, when the bosses would begin making their moves.
Then—
Defeat them before they could do anything troublesome.
After that, it was case closed.
There was no point going full Chad mode when he could conserve his strength and just sneak attack them.
However, there was still a chance his plan might fail, and they might summon the dungeon boss—and awaken Amelia.
That was why he set the group’s rendezvous for that specific time.
As soon as the four of them reached the heart of the vast forest, the wind stirred around them, and the moment their feet touched the ground, the world changed.
"Just as I thought," he said with a grin. "At the center, the two worlds will synchronize perfectly."
But there was still a problem.
Ellie and Cassie stepped in front of the group.
"Looks like we’ve got company," Ellie said with a confident smirk.
Cassie’s expression sharpened as she locked eyes with the creature. "Let’s kill it."
