Chapter 38: Boring First Day...

Goddess Sylvia, the true daughter and successor of Goddess Tessia.

During the time of peace, seven gods existed, and one of them was Tessia, the goddess of life.

But soon, the days of peace came to an end, as one of the seven gods tried to take everything for himself.

He was later defeated along with his army and cast into the Nether Realm.

However, he still continued to haunt the world, and two thousand years ago, at the beginning of Goddess Sylvia’s reign after her mother’s death, the one called the Ruler of Darkness emerged from the Nether Realm, threatening to enslave the ancient race.

So in desperation, she, who had become the only god, used the essence of the other deceased gods to give her creations the ability to control the energy of the world.

That energy was later divided into two: mana and force.

The brave heroes of that generation fought fiercely, but they failed. However, each of those heroes ascended to godhood, as they had reached the peak of either the White Core stage or Supreme Rank.

After their deaths, the next generation took up the mantle. During that time, they counted each passing generation as "cohorts"—people who banded together for one goal.

After a long war, the goddess’s creations emerged victorious, and the seven heroes of that time created the seven races with the gifts granted to them by the goddess, who had now become the one transcendent being.

Since then, the world had remained in relative peace, evolving from counting cohorts to gangs to crews and finally to the era of generations.

Nathira’s history lesson continued. "Because of this, an ancient prophecy still lingers about the time when the Ruler of Darkness will be freed and the world will need a hero again."

’What a load of crap,’ Arthur thought, rotating his shoulder. ’It is true that both Goddess Sylvia and Tessia existed, but the rest of the story was fabricated. Why else would she pick that dumbass as her chosen one?’

In truth, Goddess Tessia was a kind ruler and the leader of the seven gods. They all loved her, and she was in a romantic relationship with the Ruler of Darkness.

But since goddesses could make children through energy sources just like the women of his clan, Tessia had birthed Sylvia before she ever married the Ruler of Darkness.

However, Sylvia was a spoiled brat who hated her mother and the gods, so she plotted against them and killed them.

She then sowed the seeds of hatred in all the gods’ descendants, making them constantly come after her life so she could create a villain for the world.

Her world.

Though everything fell apart when the Ruler of Darkness’s subordinate took all the fragments of the gods and created the six other races, while Sylvia created the humans.

But since she had trapped the ancient race on one of the continents, and the other races couldn’t distinguish good from evil, she took them in and formed her ideal world.

Later, she discovered that someone, one of the three children of the first dragon—had uncovered her secret and she used her mother’s last fragment, which had merged with the Ruler of Darkness’s fragment, to seal her.

And that same curious child, who had reached Monarch rank at the age of 24, was the one now teaching the class.

And the fragments?

Well, that was a story for another day.

But it was now called by a different name—

The god-killing sword:

The Star Cleaver, Nxyrebus Val Pentdragon

...

Arthur exhaled deeply.

Today was the first day at the academy and a stressful one at that.

If he had to give a recap, he would say he woke up to Isabella’s melodious voice with his head on her lap, got dressed in his navy blue blazer uniform, and left for class.

He already knew he was assigned to Class S, so after enduring the glares from other factions, he made it into class and now had to sit through a lecture from his wife.

’But she does look hot in that outfit,’ Arthur’s expression darkened. ’No touching,’ he sighed.

After this class, he was supposed to have a general test. After that, there would be a short break followed by the selection of classes and disciplines.

------

The boring day went exactly as he predicted, and the time for their test finally arrived.

Class S was a class of monsters, with only the best of the best allowed in.

Ha-Joon, Cale, Eric, Ayla, Karma, Emily, Cecilia, among many others, were members of Class S.

But this year, it seemed they had reduced the number in Class S to thirty to prevent faction conflict.

Arthur knew that change had been implemented because of his mother’s complaints.

She had called him through the magic comms and told him she had asked the principal to lower Class S’s capacity since his own faction had only... ten.

Arthur sighed again. ’How many times have I sighed today?’

There were so many things that frustrated him.

First was the complete lack of action in his life.

Three years, that was how long he had spent cultivating and training—but now he was expected to sit around and wait for combat classes.

And his only solace, his wives, were now avoiding him.

’I don’t know if I’m the husband or if Nathira is,’ he questioned.

The girls in his class were attractive, but they felt like children compared to his more mature wives. Because of that, he felt nothing for them.

"Arthur Arcain!"

Arthur snapped to attention as he heard the teacher call his name. "Yes, Mister..."

His words caught in his throat. ’What was his name again?’

Arthur couldn’t care less. Not like he was ever going to pursue practical alchemy.

Isabella was already a master alchemist. He didn’t need to study it further, and Arthur had his own niche.

The man pinched the bridge of his nose. "Arthur Arcain, what is the answer to the problem on the board?"

Another reason Arthur didn’t care about Alchemy or school in general was because...

Everything in this world was simple compared to Earth. At least, things that didn’t involve magic.

But if someone could understand the basics of magic, then even magi-tech would be easy.

Arthur stood and looked at the board, which read:

"If x + 5 = 10 + 2, what is x?"

He stared at the question. "It’s seven, sir."

The man looked at the board, then back at him. "Correct."

The entire class began murmuring.

Some called him smart, while others whispered he was a real bad boy.

’Why the hell are they gasping? I could solve that with my eyes closed.’

Arthur couldn’t help but sigh repeatedly in a span of twenty seconds.

’I feel so scammed. How can they give such easy questions here, yet I had to study complex formulas to keep a top grade back on Earth?’

The teacher’s voice rang out. "We will now have a short test."

This week was test week. Teachers would give tests even to students who had already chosen their classes.

This was to assess their aptitude. If they showed talent, teachers would try to recruit them.

’Don’t tell me I’ll see stuff like one plus one on this test.’

Arthur jinxed himself. The test actually included 1+1.

But the last question was a bit tricky.

Or rather, confusing—but it wasn’t something he couldn’t solve.

He prided himself on his academic record back on Earth and had won several awards both in Korea and globally.

The teacher graded the test on the spot and grinned.

"We have many talents today. It seems the Chemistry class will be gaining new students." His grin widened. "This time, we even have a student who got a perfect score."

He turned to Arthur, smiling before narrowing his eyes.

Arthur recognized that gesture.

The classic I-want-you-as-my-favorite move.

At least, that’s what teachers called it. But to him, it was the come-and-be-my-slave gesture.

Arthur turned away from the man’s gaze.

In an instant, the man blinked in front of him. "So what do you say, Arthur Arcain? Do you want to work under me? I’ll make sure you get good grades. Just imagine it—you and me, making..."

The man kept talking, painting a vision, but Arthur only heard one message:

Come and work as A SLAVE and do ALL MY WORK by YOURSELF, with NO HELP.

’Nah. I’ll pass,’ he thought, then turned to the teacher.

With a deadpan expression, he replied, "Sir, I will kindly decline the offer."

’Definitely not because your classes are boring. And I still have this mission.’

『 #Scenario 47: Help Ellie #### go on the right path 』

This time, it wasn’t a romantic mission—but one to help someone.

Ellie Falmouth: Prince Falmouth’s twin sister.

No—his master, and the daughter of the former Duke of the West.
