Chapter 47: A Future Archmage

OOOM!

"!!!" "!!!"

Anyone in close proximity to the Affinity Ball felt themselves go momentarily blind. The dazzling array of light shooting off the ball was just too much to bear. It was as if that one ball could replace the sun in the sky.

"How could this be...?"

Even the Dean, a Grandmaster Mage known for his uncaring attitude toward almost everything, had his heart beating a thousand miles a second. The sight before him exceeded his common sense.

On True Spirit Continent, Mages who only had Affinity in a single Primary Element were the norm. 99.99% of Mages belonged to this category.

Then there were Dual Primary Element Mages. They were far rarer than Single Primary Element Mages, and you might find one out of every 100,000 Mages.

The recognized top class among Mages, however, were those with Triple Primary Elements.

Search through millions upon millions of Mages, and you still might not find even one person with an Affinity for three Primary Elements. To find someone with three, and for all three to be High Affinity or above, was an even more difficult task.

The Academy Staff were already plenty happy this year. After all, on top of Eira and Merida, there were more than a few dozen other extraordinarily talented Mages among the contestants. Most were Dual Primary Element Mages or Single Element Mages, but there were also two more discovered to have Triple Primary Elemental Affinity.

Although those two only had one Primary Affinity at Highest and the other two at High and below, that was still beyond superb. On a global scale, they’d nonetheless be considered top-notch geniuses.

As for Mages with four Primary Element Affinities, none had been spotted for many years.

In fact, the last one to come out as a Quad Primary Element Mage in the Moon God Kingdom was the last Mage to become a Great Grandmaster Mage. And though the number of Primary Elements you had an Affinity for didn’t directly correlate to your potential, it was said that the more you had, the closer your connection was to heaven and earth, and the easier it was to take that huge step into the Great Grandmaster Mage Realm.

Not all, but most Great Grandmaster Mages throughout history bore the title of Quad Primary Element Mage. It was a pattern.

But one might wonder about those with more than four Primary Elements. Did they exist? What Realm did they reach if so?

In history books, it was extremely difficult to find anything about Penta Element Mages. But from several reference points, one could infer that those with this god-given talent and title often knocked on the door of the mythical Realm above a Great Grandmaster Mage.

"The Archmage Realm..."

The Dean’s whole existence shook.

"Am I really witnessing the birth of someone with the potential to become an Archmage...!?"

The Dean wasn’t the only one to realize the implications behind the phenomenon they were witnessing. However, it was far more difficult for them to come to terms with reality.

Who could so easily believe that another actually had an almost guaranteed probability of reaching the Great Grandmaster Mage Realm, with a small chance of taking another step as well??

Preposterous!

But as strings of magically imbued words materialized outside an Affinity Tester Ball, the immensity of the situation finally settled in for the innumerable gawkers.

"Primary Elemental Affinity(s): Fire (Limit), Dark (Limit), Water (Limit), Air (Limit), Lightning (Limit)"

"Secondary Elemental Affinity(s): Heat (Limit), Ember (Limit), Scorch (Limit), Shadow (Limit), Obscurity (Limit), Void (Limit), Current (Limit), Steam (Limit), Gale (Limit), Pressure (Limit), Spark (Limit), Bolt (Limit), Thunder (Limit), Plasma (Limit)....."

The Secondary Elemental Affinity list went on and on, with each additional name further bulging the eyes of those watching this insane scene unfold.

"...The youngest heir to the Crimson Flask Duke was the only one this year to have an Affinity rated at the Limit quality, and even then, he was but a mere Single Element Mage, and the Element was also a Secondary Element," the Dean murmured in disbelief.

"But then... what am I seeing right now...?"

That Duke’s son didn’t possess a single Primary Element with a Limit Affinity. He could even be termed an atypical case, as it was very uncommon to have a Highest Affinity for a Primary Element, yet a Limit Affinity for a derived Secondary Element.

The potential of someone like this also wasn’t much better than a normal Single Element Mage with a Highest Affinity Primary Element. Primary and Secondary Elements were different fundamentally, after all.

"One, two, three... Five Limit Primary Elements!!" A high-ranking Teacher was stunned silly. "And look at all those Limit Secondary Elements!! How could there be so many of them!?" f.re(e) w.e(b)nov el.c.om

"I wonder if even actual Archmages had talent like this! Insanity!!"

In one section of the Testing Area Gorge, a foolishly obsessed girl threw her arms up with glee. She ran over to Jin post-haste, quickly swooping him into her arms and smothering him in between her large bosom.

"I knew you were special, Jinny~!"

Merida squeed, swinging the indifferent boy around like a stuffed animal.

"Hihi~, my special little Jinny-poo~"

Jin’s expression didn’t change, though a bit of relief welled up within him.

’I was afraid I’d shatter that shiny ball,’ he thought while looking at the Affinity Tester covered in tiny, almost untraceable cracks. If he had unleashed any more of his talent, the ball surely would’ve exploded due to overload.

’I held back as much as I thought appropriate, but maybe even that was too much...’

Due to his practicing of the Martial Dao Evolution Path and the even more unique direction he took in it, his ’talent’ took many unforeseen turns. In the truest sense, he didn’t actually possess any standardized talent, but because of how perfect his body and foundations were, he could exhibit prospects surpassing the limit parameters of this world.

An Affinity with five Primary Elements wasn’t even his limit. He actually had an Affinity for every single Element out there, acquired because of how his perfected body reacted to the Magicules in the atmosphere, and also primarily because of his full comprehension of the Mage Path up to the Archmage Realm. Moreover, there was the fact that his Martial Dao Evolution Path existed on a separate scale than the Mage Path normalized on the True Spirit Continent.

Jin also had a theory that it was because of his many tens of thousands of comprehended Intents that his Affinity with the Elements was not only initially high, it even increased as time progressed.

As of now, with more than 100 Strands of Cosmic Singularity Intent pushing against his thousand-meter-large Dantian, his Affinity with the Elements would definitely attract the attention of the 42 gods if he put it all on display.

Of course, he’d never do that.

At least, not right now...
