Chapter 40: Cosmic Singularity Intent
"Young friend Azmodeus...?"
"Hmm?"
Jin snapped himself out of his reverie, returning to reality—returning to the corpulent middle-aged man lounging in the VIP Stands of a certain Bronze League Arena. One could tell that he was growing impatient, though he wasn’t showing it through his poker face.
"Are you still considering?" asked the middle-aged man.
Jin shook his head. "I’ve already decided. I’ve decided—
—not to take your offer."
The middle-aged man had been expectant for a second there. However, when Jin gave his answer, a frown formed on the man’s face.
In Jamie Diamondheart’s lifetime, not many dared to reject him. As a young master of the famous Diamond Heart Family, he always got what he wanted.
Even when dealing with other cities, City Lords would hold a certain level of respect when talking to him.
Though more specifically, they placed respect on the great Diamond Heart Family name.
However, never had Jamie been rejected as such. For him, it was practically a slap in the face—a slap that affected his pride, reputation, and honor, and, most importantly, his ego.
"This decision of yours..." he asked, his voice colder than before. "Are you sure of it...?"
"I am," Jin replied in an uncaring tone. He was already walking out of VIP Stand #18 when a dangerous aura seeped out of Jamie.
"That little bastard," Jamie cursed, violently pushing away the half-nude women clinging to him. "Just because he’s a little above average with a few dozen comprehended Intents at the 2nd Rank, he thinks he can reject me like this? Does he believe an offer better than mine will ever come around for someone without a background like him??"
"I’ll make sure he regrets it."
In truth, Jin originally wanted to accept Jamie’s proposal. The benefits were generous, and the conditions were lax, but... there was something suspicious about the whole thing.
Why poach him? A random with a couple thousand matches to his name, 30-something shown Intents, and an Early Rank 2 Cultivation Base??
With the Diamond Heart Family’s name and authority, contracting even geniuses with over 50 Intents at Rank 2 was possible. Hell, even Rank 3 Evolvers were not out of their means.
With what Jin displayed thus far, there should’ve been no reason for Jamie to personally seek him out.
Everything just screamed ’ploy’ to Jin, and for that reason, he declined Jamie’s invitation to work for him.
Also, if Jin wished to go erase some Mutants from a Fallen District, it would be as easy as snapping a finger. He didn’t need anybody else, especially not Jamie, to do so. Moreover, when by himself, he could unleash his full strength, not just a minuscule part of it.
"My full strength," he murmured while returning to the usual waiting area of this Arena.
The outer rim of the Door to the Myriad Realms finished lighting up not long ago, which meant that more than eight months had passed since his return from Huaxia. And during this period of time, many things changed for Jin.
For starters, his cultivation advanced by leaps and bounds, with the burrowing percentile of his Foundational Intents sitting above 20%. In other words, he could be considered a Rank 2 Level 3 Evolver.
For months’ worth of strenuous cultivation, this may not seem like good progress. But one must understand that, for average Evolvers, it took years, even dozens of years, to level up.
That Jin could do so in a fraction of the time already made him a genius.
Furthermore, that was while seeing him as a normal Evolver with a normal number of comprehended Intents. In reality, however, he was leagues above the basic standard for geniuses.
"After comprehending Intent number seven thousand seven hundred and seven, something changed," Jin muttered in an inexplicable tone.
The moment his 7777th Secondary Intent reached the 6th Stage, all of his Intents underwent a drastic transformation. They coalesced together, creating something singular—something that exceeded common understanding.
WAAA!
Conjuring a multi-colored wisp above his right hand, Jin marveled at its transcendental surface and state of being. f|re(e)web.n\ovel. (c)o.m
"Cosmic Singularity Intent. One strand of it."
This tiny strand embodied the aspects of 7777 diverse Intents. It converted their diversity into a symbol of unity, capable of exerting power far beyond what the 7777 Intents could display individually.
"Since this Cosmic Singularity Intent first came to be, the rate at which my 777 Foundational Intents merge with my Dantian has increased manifold," Jin pondered. "However, at the rate I’m going, it’ll still take years to reach the peak of Rank 2, achieving 100% burrowing of Foundational Intents."
Burrowing, or ’Merging,’ was subject to exponential difficulty increases. These increases, based on how much had already been merged, worked on the principle of pushing down a spring.
The further the spring gets pushed, the more resistance you’ll feel. Moreover, as you continue pushing, the resistance piles up, meaning that you have to deal with both previous resistance and new resistance.
The same thing applied with the merging of Foundational Intents with your Dantian.
"But without this strand of Cosmic Singularity Intent, it would’ve required even larger periods of time to complete the merging process. Possibly dozens or hundreds of years."
And the only reason that Cosmic Singularity Intent could even be created to begin with had been because of Against-Heaven’s Understanding. After Jin ranked up to Rank 2, this Bound Talent also ranked up, attaining its far superior Rank 2 capabilities. Subsequently, thousands of Intents were easily and quickly mastered, leading to the creation of the Cosmic Singularity Intent strand.
"In total, I’ve comprehended 12,349 Intents," Jin stated, sensing all of them coursing throughout his body. "7777 have been transformed into a strand of Cosmic Singularity Intent, and I assume the same thing will happen again when I get another 7777."
Even with his Level 3 Citizen status, never had he heard of the Cosmic Singularity Intent. However, considering how vast the Universe was, there were sure to be innumerable heaven-defying geniuses.
’There is simply no way I’m the first to have comprehended 7777 Intents to Stage 6 while in Rank 2.’
He believed he just wasn’t at the level where he was privy to the matters of supreme prodigies that could live thousands of years using special means.
Then again, this could all just be in his head, and he actually was the first to accomplish this mind-boggling feat.
But there was no way, right?
Right...?
