Chapter 35: Four Months Later
Four months later.
Virtual World – Pacific Blue Star.
Copper-League Battleground C-210.
"You said what!?" An angry, slightly frightened roar came from a scary-looking man. His cultivation was firmly planted in the 2nd Rank 8th Level, yet at this moment, he could be seen shaking like a leaf.
"G-General, sir, we have just received confirmation that the Steel Wolves Faction of the Blue Team have requested the assistance of... Azmodeus the Doom Slayer."
"The Frost Legion Faction of the Orange Team and the Scarlet Guard Faction of the Green Team have already been annihilated by the Doom Slayer..."
Most famously known for his Stage 5 Doom Intent, those in the Copper Arena League came to call the merciless killer of all the ’Doom Slayer’.
For months, his terror spread throughout thousands of Battlefield Blitz matches, as he’d go from one Battleground to the next, overpowering everyone with his fearsome Intents. Yet, most horrifying of all had to be how he ’played’ with his enemies before vanquishing them, akin to a cat playing mice to their deaths.
"If the Doom Slayer is taking out the Factions according to that pattern, then doesn’t that mean we’re next-..."
Before the Commanding General of the Red Team could finish his daunting realization, the top of the hill their encampment was centered on suddenly disconnected from the rest of the hill.
The whole encampment was tossed into the air, and under the effect of the Stage 5 |Gravity Intent|, the encampment was forced to stay off the ground.
"The... The Doom Slayer!!" a Mid 2nd Rank Evolver from the Red Team’s Bloodstorm Faction screamed at the top of her lungs. She tried to flee the Gravity Intent’s influence but found that another Intent activated on top of the Gravity Intent.
|Compression Intent|
Then another.
|Restriction Intent|
And another...
|Stasis Intent|
Then finally, after every single member of the Red Team Faction’s encampment had been thoroughly suspended mid-air, Jin’s eyes flashed coldly. He raised a hand—
Then squeezed.
|Doom Intent|
Of all his Intents, Doom Intent was by far the most effective at quickly bringing living beings to the ends of their lives. It would target the lifeforce of organisms, then with utmost cruelty, spontaneously combust them from the inside out.
At the 6th Stage, the Doom Intent became even more terrifying, and with but a mere thought, Jin could erase any number of normal Rank 1 and Rank 2 Evolvers.
Of course, he hadn’t and wouldn’t show off his Stage 6 |Doom Intent| in any of his Arena matches.
Even publicly displaying over 20 Intents at Stage 4 and Stage 5 was testing the limits of how much attention he could attract to himself at this current stage in his life.
Yet, none of that could compare to cultivating a Stage 6 Intent in the 1st Rank.
The two feats were simply incomparable...
"Respected Level 3 Citizen, Jin Stratus, you and your Team (Blue) have successfully defeated all other colored Teams in Copper League Blitz Battleground C-210. You’ve won the Blitz War."
The calm, cool voice of the Goddess of Wisdom announced Jin’s victory, instantly transporting him and the rest of his Team out of the Battleground. They were then each awarded 450,000 Cosmic Human Coins, with Jin receiving an additional 3 million from his teammates as payment for helping them win the Blitz War they had been fighting for weeks now.
A long-fought virtual war lasting weeks—settled by a single Jin in less than 10 minutes.
And all the while limiting the power he revealed to the ultimate degree.
If he went all-out, there would be no challenge anymore. Even 2nd Rank 12th Level Evolvers would fall to his blade without the ability to resist.
...
Redrock City.
District A-07.
Small Lotus Lake Mansion.
"That makes number seven hundred seventy-six," announced Jin, integrating the |Luminosity Intent| with his physical body.
Advancing an Intent from the 5th Stage to the 6th Stage was the transformation of ’Perfection’ to ’Unity’.
This meant taking your perfected Intent and integrating or fusing it with your physical body. Once achieving complete integration, you’d have attained Unity with that Intent, thus placing your Intent in the 6th Stage.
With an Intent at the 6th Stage, not only would its various facets have improved, you’d achieve a higher form of ’Control,’ which was vastly more important than basic improvements.
Every movement or fluctuation of will would have the potential to incorporate and unleash the 6th Stage Intent. It was the first step toward embodying the Intent itself, rendering battle against those of a similar level effortless.
Jin had originally hoped to confront numerous Stage 5 Intent wielders for the goal of acquiring Stage 6 Intents, but almost no one on the Virtual Battlefields possessed an Intent at that level. Yet in this case, quantity made up for quality. By witnessing and confronting countless Intents across these endless battlefields, Jin was able to reach this mythical Stage in so many of his own Intents.
"Out of my 777 Intents, only one has yet to reach Stage 6-..."
Just then, Jin’s home security system alerted him of the presence of two figures outside his home. Upon closer inspection, both were determined to be older men, one of whom he was familiar with.
"Let them in," he said to one of the Androids that managed his home.
"Yes, Master," the Android replied respectfully.
Its voice, mannerisms, and appearance were no different from that of an actual human. It even had synthetic organs that were indistinguishable from the real deal. The only tangible difference between it and a human was its ’Soul,’ which was impossible to artificially modify to match that of a genuine human.
This was also how the Three Goddesses verified that the human they were seeing was actually a member of the Human Race and not one of the Ten Thousand Myriad Races vying to uproot Humanity.
The Soul was impossible to fabricate—at least with the means available to the Deep Sea Universe.
