Chapter 16: Solving Crisis with a Palm

"Ho? Who are you, boy?" The cloaked Leader smirked evilly under his hood. Unconsciously, he scanned the boy, only to realize something bewildering.

"You... Why can’t I sense your cultivation??"

Upon reaching the Martial Grandmaster Realm, your connection with Heaven and Earth and atmospheric spiritual energy would substantially increase. This enabled the more perceptive Martial Grandmasters to ’scan’ their surroundings and even the cultivation levels of those weaker than them.

For the cloaked Leader, who was a seasoned Martial Grandmaster, everything within a couple dozen meters fell under the influence of his scrutiny.

This included Jin.

And yet... his cultivation base still couldn’t be determined.

This didn’t make any sense whatsoever. The speed the young boy just displayed was at least that of a Martial Master, so how could he possibly be cultivationless?

"Well, no matter, since you’re a genius, I’ll give you an option that I won’t give to anyone else in this 2nd Rate Sect," the cloaked Leader started to speak, presenting Jin with two choices.

One: he’d die here alongside the rest of the thousands of Yang Sect members.

Or two: he could join their Ten Devil Sect and live a better life than he’d have in the Yang Sect.

Rather than instantly give an answer to the cloaked Leader, Jin looked past him, at the misty figure standing a few feet behind him. The same figure that he sensed the presence of at the Inner Disciple Advancement Competition three weeks ago.

Coldly snorting, Jin flicked out with his right index finger.

The culmination of countless sword and energy techniques flickered like a streak of lightning. And before the cloaked Leader could react, half his arm, as well as everyone on his left side leading to the misty figure, were incinerated to ash.

"!!!"

"H-How could this be!?" Horror filled the eyes of the cloaked Leader as he stared at the monstrous child before him.

Without hesitation, and as if on instinct, he... fled! f.re(e) w.e(b)nov el.c.om

"Futile."

Jin raised his left hand, grasping the air in front of him.

"N-No—!!!"

The cloaked Leader immediately felt an unbearable pressure crush down on him.

His defensive measures were all broken the same moment the pressure crushed down, and what followed was a bloody mess, as he too was crumpled and crushed by a large invisible hand.

Another hand grasp, and the remainder of the cloaked experts perished as well.

A few more casual moves and the entirety of the Yang Sect was cleaned up, all vermin exploding like crimson-colored blood bombs.

[Your Understanding is Against Heaven. By causing the deaths of numerous cultivators, some of whom were in the Martial Master and Grandmaster Realm, you comprehended the Divine-grade Martial Art ’Life Reaping Palm’.]

[Your Understanding is Against Heaven. By witnessing numerous lives come to an end, you have begun to comprehend one of the Great Truths: ’Cycle of Samsara’.]

[Your...]

Over a dozen system notifications rang out, informing Jin of various gains. The oddest of them mentioned things called ’Great Truths,’ which, after digesting the relevant information, he figured out to be a kind of Rule or Law.

However, this lesser Law pertained only to the World of Huaxia and wouldn’t change much for Jin in the Main World. After all, the two worlds contained different Laws and were leagues apart in terms of level. Comprehending Death in Huaxia would only likely make it a little bit simpler to comprehend it in the Main World when he reached a sufficient level.

In fact, the only reason Jin could comprehend the Great Truths of Huaxia was precisely because of its low level. It was also because of his vast knowledge of the world’s cultivation system and its various complexities, bringing him close enough to begin touching upon Great Truths.

Of course, this was all given that the circumstances were right.

...

The next day.

Following a large celebration party that the 4th Yang Sect Leader held for Jin.

"Savior Yang, must you really go?"

The once joyous atmosphere had become glum when Jin announced his intent to leave the Yang Sect under the pretense of broadening his horizons.

Those who were alive today were alive thanks to Jin—did he really have to go so soon...?

Shaking his head, Jin said to the Sect Leader, Xin Ming, and the others, "My purpose in life is to research and comprehend. There’s nothing left for me here; I have to go."

"This..." The Sect Leader was about to say something else when he paused. Sighing, he patted the young Jin on the shoulders. "If that’s really your wish, then so be it. I cannot, in good conscience, keep a dragon like you trapped in this small pond. I’m sure the Ancestors in heaven are thinking the same thing as me."

Jin nodded before turning around.

However, just then, a tearful feminine voice echoed from behind. It belonged to Xin Ming, who was genuinely wishing him the best of luck, all the while tears streamed down her face.

Jin’s chest tightened, not because of anything he was feeling, but because of the emotions that lingered from the original Yang Kai.

’I’m sorry, but it won’t happen. Not in this lifetime.’

Jin refused to be weak.

He wanted to alter his shitty fate.

Romance with the fairer sex or sympathy for the body he had acquisitioned for himself meant very little in the pursuit of absolute power.

And so Jin walked out of the Yang Sect, leaving only after making sure he benefited as much as he could from the place.

He then journeyed north, across the large River of Jagga, past the Boundless Ridge Mountain Range, and into the sea of clouds above.

Until eventually, a paradisiacal fairyland came into view...
