Chapter 15: The Yang Sect’s Doom
"Young friend, I don’t mean to bother you, but there’s something we must discuss!"
Sect Leader Yang waited outside the Martial Arts Pagoda, shouting in hopes that Jin would hear him. There was a matter of utmost urgency he had to inform the 12-year-old genius about, and it couldn’t wait.
"Is something the matter?" Suddenly appearing behind Sect Leader Yang, Jin prompted a question.
’So fast!’
The Sect Leader was astounded by the young boy’s speed, as he hadn’t even seen him move.
Snapping himself out of his reverie, his tone turned grave as he said, "Young friend Yang Kai, we are currently... under attack."
"Under attack?" Jin raised a brow, expanding his spiritual sense to find that a good portion of the Sect’s buildings were on fire. He frowned, spotting the silhouettes of hundreds of cloaked figures.
Most of them were in the Martial Apprentice and Martial Master Realm. However, the strongest one among them possessed a far more terrifying presence, his cultivation at least in the Early Martial Grandmaster Realm.
The Inner Disciples, Direct Disciples, and Elders of the Yang Sect did their best to fend off the cloaked assailants. But whether it be Martial Apprentices or Martial Masters, the opposing forces outnumbered them in every category.
It was a hopeless, downhill battle...
"Young friend, you are the pride and joy of our Yang Sect. You can’t fall here."
Yang Sect Leader pointed to the nearby Great Yang Forest. "You must head in that direction, and only after making it out of the Forest can you be sure that you weren’t followed."
"Go."
"Go and make sure the legacy of the Yang Sect does not end here."
Right about now, the Yang Sect Leader was thankful to his past self for allowing Jin into the topmost floors of the Martial Arts Library. After all, even if Jin couldn’t memorize everything, he likely remembered some of it.
The Yang Sect’s foundation would stand strong for years to come with Jin, even if the Martial Arts Library were to be demolished today. And for the Sect Leader of the Yang Sect, this was the most he could hope for.
Yet, in the face of such an emotional scene where the Yang Sect Leader even gave Jin as much wealth as possible to leave with, Jin maintained an indifferent stance.
"Young friend Yang Kai, you may be strong and talented, but don’t be foolish," the Sect Leader lectured, realizing that he was as unmoving as a rock. "There’s a huge difference between possessing similar abilities to someone in the Martial Grandmaster Realm and actually being in the Martial Grandmaster Realm. The leader of our doom is in that very Realm, and is not just a single step into it."
But mere minutes ago, the four Ancestors of the Yang Sect, all of whom were previous Sect Leaders, challenged the unknown cloaked expert to a battle. However, in just five moves, every single Ancestor perished, their decades of cultivation gone in the wind.
The Founder of the Yang Sect—the 1st Sect Leader and Ancestor—was even in the 3rd Layer Martial Grandmaster Realm.
Yet he fell all the same...
Hearing this from the mouth of the Yang Sect’s 5th Sect Leader, Jin entered deep thought.
Looking at that cloaked Martial Grandmaster, he didn’t sense the slightest bit of danger. At most, the enemy was in the 5th Layer Martial Grandmaster Realm, not a threat to him.
Jin almost felt too lazy to even bother vanquishing such a weakling.
But considering how much the Yang Sect had provided him, he figured it wouldn’t harm him to help them out.
It was also partly his fault for being so immersed in comprehension that the Ancestors died, so this was the least he could do.
"Alright," he said.
"You’re finally going to leave?? Good, get going! Quick now, before those villains catch on!"
Ignoring the Sect Leader, Jin walked away from the Martial Arts Pagoda. The Sect wasn’t particularly small, taking up a surface area of a couple of miles, however, in the blink of an eye, he traversed half that distance.
In another eye blink, he was poised atop a three-story restaurant in the Inner Sect. He stood just opposite to where the opposition’s leader was overlooking the ongoing chaos.
"What are you doing, young friend Yang!? That’s the wrong way!!" The Sect Leader was freaking out, his emotions in turmoil.
The future of their Yang Sect—what was he doing!?
Trying to get himself killed!?
Though he was pretty quick on his feet...
