Chapter 990: Chapter 41: Charging and the Korean_2

Perhaps sensing that Tang Zheng was a significant threat, the Insect Monster turned around, making him the focus of its attack, firing its light beams and suddenly twisting its tentacles into a single force to form a cone shape for whipping.

Tang Zheng dodged the light beams and before he could get close, he was whipped by the tentacles into the water. Dantai, Qin Yan, and Lin Weiguo took the opportunity to fire their energy cannons and finally shattered the monster’s shield.

Li Xinlan unleashed her ability, and a palm-wide ice layer spread over the surface of the water. When it reached the Insect Monster, it suddenly swelled, quickly freezing the surroundings. Amid the crackling sounds, large chunks of ice formed, trapping its body within the ice layer. Due to the low temperatures and frost, the frequency of its tentacle whipping slowed considerably, and some broke off due to frost damage.

This was entirely Li Xinlan’s main battlefield; the frozen waterlogged area looked like blooming roses. Accompanied by the sizzling sound of freezing, hundreds of ice spears appeared, stabbing into the body of the Insect Monster, blood spurting wildly, while an Ice Prison Cage also formed, completely binding its range of movement.

Tang Zheng did not engage in close combat again but instead stood not far away, directing firepower at it. The Conquerors would not miss this opportunity to kick someone when they’re down, opening fire in a volley. Tong Ping also let out his space collapse.

The Insect Monster was riddled with holes amid screams of agony, breaking into a pile of blood and flesh.

A Star Seed fell out, which Tang Zheng picked up and tossed to the young woman; without her ability, the team would have had a much harder time dealing with this creature.

The Instant Noodle Squad had grown accustomed to Tang Zheng’s fairness and generosity, regrouping and continuing to move forward.

"Keep it, save up to activate the sixth power," Li Xinlan said, without accepting it and stuffed it into Tang Zheng’s pocket instead.

After this ambush and seeing the injuries and deaths of a dozen people, the newbies wisely shut their mouths, no longer complaining, and kept pushing on. They also understood Tang Zheng’s good intentions; escaping was not easy in such complex terrain.

Tang Zheng was not unkind; aside from letting the newbies rest every two hours and eat some food to replenish their heat, he also arranged for those who were too tired to walk to be seated on vehicles.

The journey became much safer afterward, with only one or two Insect Alligators occasionally encountered. They were killed by the Conquerors before they could get close to the team.

"Only one kilometer left, keep it up!" Tang Zheng continually encouraged the newbies, boosting morale and even played some motivating music to keep the atmosphere from becoming too somber.

Taking an hour longer than anticipated, but the mixed team finally emerged from the Waterlogging Area. Seeing the dry passage, the newbies cried with joy, collapsing onto the ground.

"Take a temporary break. Teng Yuanxiang, Jing Xiang, go make some coffee," said Tang Zheng, not urging them to move on but instead preparing some hot drinks.

"Yes, Group Leader!" Teng Yuanxiang did not forget to show her presence, while Jing Xiang was much quieter, hardly talking needlessly.

The newbies, watching the dry and refreshed Teng Yuanxiang, were a bit envious and then began considering their future situation, preparing to rally around Tang Zheng. At the very least, they decided to fulfill every one of his requests to enjoy some small privileges.

"Tang Zheng, the bus is fixed," Lin Weiguo said, removing his gloves covered in grease and took the cup handed to him by Xu Biyun, sipping the coffee.

"Drink up quickly, we’re leaving in three minutes."

The newbies boarded the bus again, which was more spacious inside due to the death of over a dozen people. They all had gloomy expressions and hugged their rifles, silent.

"This game is too hard for the newbies; they didn’t even have a chance to return fire," Dantai frowned, somewhat ready to give up on them.

Tang Zheng heard the implied message in the Special Agent’s words: These people weren’t even qualified to be cannon fodder.

"I think we should split into two teams. The large team heads to the bridge while a few Conquerors stay to protect these newbies. That also counts as doing our utmost," Dantai, the rationalist, didn’t want to waste time, "As for the number of people, we shouldn’t need to worry. Other teams definitely aren’t as merciful as us."

"Alright, who will stay behind?" Tang Zheng scanned the several Conquerors.

"Anyway, I’ll be with Uncle," Lu Fan immediately made his stance clear. Actually, the others all wanted to be with Tang Zheng too, as it would greatly increase their safety.

"I can’t be the one to stay behind and lead the newbies, can I?" Dantai shook his head, seeing their intention, and no longer insisted, "Forget it, let’s all move together. Even if we fail this stage, there probably won’t be any severe punishment. After all, the last stage was a complete victory for Tang Zheng."

Qin Yan returned, and this time it was Tang Zheng’s turn to scout ahead.

"You’re one of the main forces. Conserve some energy and save it for the BOSS battle!" Xu Biyun didn’t want the Group Leader to overexert himself and pointed at Tong Ping, "Let the instant noodle squad go once!"

"I don’t trust those guys." Dantai didn’t believe in them.

"I’ll go. I’m already tired of following the team around." A little exertion was nothing to him; a few sips of sweet spring would replenish him, and he also felt uncomfortable letting others wear the Hellfire and consume points. Compared to his Limited Edition gear, Dantai and the others would use up more points for exceeding the usage time.

Seeing the Whale Hunting Vehicle leading the way, the newbies felt at ease. With the Group Leader in action, there was surely nothing to fear, and the journey would be safe.

For such a trivial matter, let someone else do it. You’re the Group Leader, after all!" Being inside the war chariot, Teng Yuangxiang could only move with the group, which made her complain incessantly.

Jing Xiang quietly stayed on the side, wiping her rifle.

Tang Zheng started playing music to create noise, with the purpose of attracting the bugs to take the bait. Because he was confident in his skills and courage, he didn’t wear the Hellfire, and just sat on the roof of the vehicle, enjoying a good view.

The Whale Hunting Vehicle charged forward wildly. Occasionally, they would encounter some bugs, but before these could even get close, they were shot to pieces by him. Jing Xiang didn’t even have a chance to act, the only thing she did was to pick up two Black Iron Seeds.

"Group Leader?" Teng Yuangxiang wanted a piece of the action, but Tang Zheng ignored her. This woman’s eyes darted around before she leaned halfway out of the sunroof, groped his thigh, and then reached for his zipper.

Beep beep, the long-missed Handheld Radar alarm sounded. Teng Yuangxiang was startled, but Tang Zheng was quick to pull it out. After a glance to confirm the target, he ordered the smart piloted war chariot to change course.

"There are three of them. Isn’t that too dangerous?" Teng Yuangxiang also saw the screen, where three red dots were blinking—that meant enemies.

"Be careful, there might not be just three." Their opponents might have turned off their radars in an attempt to lower their enemies’ vigilance. But these were minor issues. Seeing the three red dots stop, unsure of what to do, and then start to flee, Tang Zheng knew he had caught some fat fish. Only the weak would react this way. And looking at their movement speed, it seemed they didn’t even have a vehicle, which also indicated their lower rank because Conquerors wouldn’t be so destitute.

"Are we really just going to charge at them like this? Is that ok?" Teng Yuangxiang was both nervous and excited. Suddenly, she had a strong desire to kill.

The three Koreans were dumbfounded to see a single red dot rapidly catching up to them. They didn’t understand why their opponent was so bold; common sense would dictate that with a three to one disadvantage, one should flee.

"We’ve hit a tough spot," one of the Korean men shouted before turning to run, simultaneously turning off his radar and yelling at his companions, "Split up."

"We’re safe together," another man holding a rifle responded.

"Don’t leave me behind!" The last one was a Korean woman whose comrades’ escape greatly increased her sense of danger.

"I said split up, didn’t you hear me?" Kim Taewook was a first-stage Conqueror. He had gotten this far through luck and cunning. Now faced with danger, he did not hesitate to use the newbies as bait, but unfortunately for him, they didn’t take the bait.

The roar of the motor grew louder as they approached, and hearing the sound of the vehicle, Kim Taewook was even more convinced of his assumption and broke into a sprint.

"Hey, three Koreans!" Tang Zheng pulled out his Gauss sniper rifle and aimed at Kim Taewook, who was at the front. He wasn’t planning to let any prey escape.

Bang, the bullet whistled through the air, but as it neared the back of Kim Taewook’s head, it eerily slid sideways, striking the wall with a ting.

"Hm? Interesting ability!" Tang Zheng curled the corner of his mouth, shifted the muzzle, and shattered the second man’s right thigh.

The man screamed as he rolled out, his severed leg spurting out a large amount of blood, staining the ground red. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommended tickets, monthly tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
