Chapter 972: Chapter 29: Black Hawk Legion

"Hmph, do you believe it now?" Lu Fan was very proud, chin up, and the newbies from the Warhammer team felt honored; subconsciously, they thought that having a strong Group Leader meant greater chances of their own survival.

The ponytailed woman frowned slightly and pursed her lips tightly, giving the buzz-cut man a meaningful look. The dominance of the other group leader put her under pressure.

"Toys, please note, a new mission has commenced. Head to the starship’s bridge to obtain the navigation map and coordinates for space jumps, without any time limit. Additionally, you will randomly receive two maps with routes to the bridge."

"Due to Tang Zheng’s bravery in mixed combat, you will have a three-hour respite without attacks from the Insect Race and four random route maps in compensation!"

"Five minutes from now, the Punishment Squad will descend. Please prepare all surviving squads for evasion or confrontation. Note, Tang Zheng’s squad, having cleared the laboratory and obtained gene samples, will be exempt from punishment."

"Toys, strive hard in your battle!"

The Silver Trojan issued four announcements in a row, causing the survivors to lament. Does anyone get to live? They then began to envy the good fortune of Tang Zheng and his party.

"Prepare for battle, if it’s not the Sergeant, take shelter in the bar." Dantai glanced at the time on his wristwatch, leading everyone towards a bar they had cleared earlier as a temporary stronghold.

"I hope some Nazi Zombies come, that Sergeant is too strong." A survivor who had lived through two encounters made the sign of the cross and prayed to God—there was no choice; the Sergeant was overwhelmingly powerful, crushing the survivors without effort.

Jing Xiang had never seen a Chinese person who believed in Jesus; she glanced at him subconsciously, only to receive a smack on the buttocks from Lu Fan with her rifle.

With a ’pop,’ waves rippled across Jing Xiang’s buttocks, and she looked at Little Lolita in shock.

"Do you want to die? Don’t get distracted!" Lu Fan rushed to the front of the bar, immediately kneeling on one knee, resting the rifle against her shoulder, alert with the firearm—her sequence of tactical actions was very standard.

The buzz-cut man deployed a desert-colored Merkava tank for cover, and a dozen newbies immediately huddled around it. To them, it felt safest near the tank.

The countdown was about to end, and the newbies breathed heavily like asthmatic old cows, their eyes stretched to the limit as they kept watch around them.

"Thank God, it’s not the Sergeant." The believer among the survivors shouted out in happiness. A door emanating a futuristic technology aesthetic suddenly appeared about twenty meters to their right and then opened. The first wave of the Punishment Squad burst forth and launched an attack on the survivors.

It was another new Punishment Team, an upgrade of the Nazi Zombies—the Black Hawk Legion.

Each soldier wore a black gas mask, their large goggles almost like the compound eyes of a fly, covering two-thirds of their faces, with two flat filters attached to the cheeks and a breathing tube that immediately evoked thoughts of apocalypse, virus, and death in the survivors, a wave of terror engulfing them.

German helmets with black paint, pressed black uniforms, combat belts tightly fastened around their waists bestowed an impressive and commanding presence. Armed with black combat gloves and heavy assault rifles, carrying five hand grenades on their shoulders and a large military bag on their back, they were the picture of an expeditionary force.

Dantai, the buzz-cut man, and Lu Fan fired the first shots without any wasted words. Little Lolita’s G36C assault rifle fired bullets that struck a soldier in the forehead, but the hard helmet deflected the bullets.

"Fire!" Dantai barely finished shouting when gunshots erupted from the opposing side.

The legion’s soldiers began a wild charge, running with military boots hitting the alloy floor and emitting a rhythmic ’pa pa’ sound that was utterly heart-stopping.

Machine gunners, unable to find advantageous terrain, lay straight on the ground, setting up their heavy machine guns for firepower suppression. Soldiers in the back took off hand grenades, pulled the pins, and threw them towards the bar to disrupt the survivors’ formation and obscure their vision.

Bullets hitting the tank created a ’ding ding’ sound, and the explosions were relentless, compressing the formation of the survivors.

Ah, ah, some female survivors were frightened by the bullets flying over their heads, their instinct was to squat with their heads covered, screaming loudly in an attempt to dispel the fear in their hearts.

The ponytailed woman fired single shots with her Thunderstorm Assault Rifle, thunderballs blasting out and exploding a soldier’s head, scattering deep red blood onto a nearby soldier. But they, like emotionless killing machines, kept charging fearlessly.

"Damn it, we can’t handle this!" The G36C being too rubbish, Lu Fan quickly took out the Heavy Gravity Gun and fired at the charging soldiers. Gravity Balls burst out like blown soap bubbles, whistling through the air, and upon hitting the soldiers, they blew them to pieces. In moments, a carpet of flesh and blood lay before Little Lolita’s defense area.

The ponytailed woman saw Lu Fan’s S-Class Firearms and twitched at the corner of her mouth—this girl really was playing possum. But what surprised her was yet to come.

As soldiers kept pouring out of the Teleportation Gate, Lu Fan, disdaining the slow firing rate, released the Scavenger Armor, leaped onto it, and then the dual 30mm caliber machine guns began pouring bullets toward the entrance, grinding out gory mincemeat.

The bullet’s power was enormous, even piercing through several Nazi soldiers at once, with limbs scattering and blood-soaked intestines flailing wildly—the scene was intensely gory, so much so that the survivors even dared not raise their heads.

The battle was clearly not as easy as it had seemed. Two more Teleportation Gates appeared, completely cutting off everyone’s retreat. This time, the Nazi Soldiers who burst out began to carry heavy firepower, with each one shouldering an Iron Fist anti-tank weapon. As soon as they appeared on the scene, they took aim at the survivors’ position and attacked.

Although the Conquerors tried desperately to counterattack, still, over twenty rockets were launched towards them.

"Take cover!" the crew-cut man shouted, darting back into the bar for cover. With the distance too close, and facing a do-or-die charge from the Nazi Soldiers, there was no way the position here could be held.

Lu Fan operated the Scavenger, its muzzle rotating as he unleashed a barrage, shooting down the rocket shells. However, one still hit the tank.

Boom, the tracks of the tank were blown off. A male newbie who hid too slowly was struck in the back by stray shrapnel, falling to the ground. As he struggled to get up, he was hit by another Iron Fist, blasting half his body to pieces, leaving only two legs flying out.

The newbies shouted even louder, forgetting even the most basic tactical moves Dantai had taught them, only desperately running towards the bar. Three of them, particularly unlucky, were shot dead.

"Don’t waste time, get in and reestablish the defense line!" the crew-cut man was discontent with Lu Fan and Dantai’s acting as rearguard, wondering why bother with the newbies. Defeating the Nazi Soldiers as quickly as possible was the most crucial.

"Don’t just hide, fight back, or we’ll all die," the ponytailed woman yelled, trying to inspire the newbies. The man who believed in Jesus kept shouting for God’s blessing while firing a Thunderstorm rifle wildly, his combat style quite ferocious.

The sound of tank tracks grinding on the floor was grating to the ears. A tank emerged from the Teleportation Gate, its turret rotating, aiming at the bar.

"There’s a tank," Jing Xiang called out loudly, flustered as she pulled out an AT-4 and fired a shot at it.

Hiss, the projectile hit the turret, distorting the entire barrel. At the same moment, the enemy pressed the launch button, resulting in the explosion of the cannon shell.

Another tank was blocked by the disabled one and couldn’t emerge. Jing Xiang discarded the empty AT-4, took out another, and blew it up.

"Seems like we can still hold on." Dantai also had Hellfire, but he didn’t want to reveal it so soon. He wasn’t too concerned about the lives of the newbies, only willing to help as much as he could. "Should we take the opportunity to test the crew-cut man’s strength?"

Nazi Soldiers rushed out of the Teleportation Gate. Within forty steps, they would be killed. The Conquerors didn’t unleash their full firepower, keeping the number of enemies within an acceptable range. The crew-cut man also harbored intentions of testing Dantai’s side, so he only defended his own part of the line.

The battalion commander in riding boots directed the combat, shouting loudly. Conquerors activated their shields as hand grenades rained down like a shower. Before the smoke had cleared, two squads of soldiers wielding flamethrowers charged out, aiming at the bar’s doors and windows and pulling the trigger.

Hiss, hiss, over fifty Fire Dragons spewed forth, stretching more than thirty meters. A scorching heat immediately swept over them, the unburned fuel, like sparks, fell to the ground and continued burning.

A multi-turreted, large land war chariot rolled out, crushing directly over the tanks blocked at the Teleportation Gate, turning them into scrap metal.

Jing Xiang’s AT-4 hit it, leaving only a cluster of black marks.

Bang, bang, five turrets rotated; their barrels, like long spears, took aim at the bar and fired a volley of flames.

The shells entered through the window, blasting into the opposite wall, shattering it.

Since the Conquerors held the entrance, the Nazi Soldiers couldn’t break in, allowing the newbies a temporary respite. But they were nearly scared to death, screams incessant as they crouched even lower, too afraid to fight.

"Get up and fight!" The ponytailed woman left the defense line, running to the newbies’ side, kicking them mercilessly, forcing everyone, even the women, to fight.

A male newbie dared to crawl past the window, barely getting up to shoot, when a blaze of flame sprayed in, engulfing him, turning him into a human torch.

"Help!" The unfortunate newbie screamed in agony, darting wildly, until collapsing to the ground with a thud. His skin cracked open, fat burning with sizzling sounds that made one shudder.

The courage of the newbies, just musterered, was instantly quashed, yet forced by the ponytailed woman’s kicks and blows, they had no choice but to fight, hard as it was.

"It’s the Sergeant!" Lu Fan emptied the ammo box of the Scavenger, stowing it away and ready to switch to another, when he saw a Sergeant clad in dark gold power armor flying in.

"Focus fire and take it down!" Knowing the Sergeant’s ferocity, the crew-cut man yelled, and as soon as he pointed his rifle, two thick beams of light shot from afar, blowing the Sergeant’s head off instantly.

The newbies, previously overwhelmed by the sight of the Sergeant, were stunned to see it destroyed. They looked on as two power armors painted in red and gold flew in. A few of the more timid turned tail and ran, fearing they might be targeted by the beams. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian to cast your recommendations and monthly votes.
