Chapter 971: Chapter 28: Fierce Group Leader Tang

"Let me go!" Zhou Xiang struggled, punching toward Tang Zheng’s stomach.

"Seeking death!" Tang Zheng grabbed Zhou Xiang’s wrist, his other hand gripping the collar forcibly, and he suddenly slammed him against the wall. Blood streamed down from the temple.

"Hey, are you dead men? Didn’t you see me being bullied?" Zhou Xiang’s head was spinning as he yelled for help from his companions. Until now, he still thought that Lin Chen would stand by his side.

Lin Chen turned his head away, not wanting to look at him. This guy was a disgrace to the Instant Noodle Team, utterly lacking the mettle of a B-Class Conqueror.

Bang, bang, without another word, Tang Zheng pressed Zhou Xiang’s head against the wall and smashed it brutally, then grabbed his hair and pulled it in front of him to start taking off his Space Wristwatch.

The muzzles of the three female Musketeers were all aimed at Zhou Xiang’s head, ready to blow it off at any moment, while Xu Biyun held her gun, alert to Lin Chen.

"You can’t do this!" Zhou Xiang kicked wildly, his eyes darting uncertainly, contemplating whether or not to capitulate. He knew he couldn’t escape; he was no match for two Armed Hellfires, especially in his severely wounded state.

"Tang Zheng, don’t waste words with him. If it weren’t for this coward ducking the fight, Zuo Yi wouldn’t have died so quickly," Lin Weiguo said fiercely, walking up to Zhou Xiang with a bloody dagger in hand, grabbing his left hand and slashing down at his wrist.

"How dare you?" Zhou Xiang’s shout quickly turned into a scream as he watched Lin Weiguo holding his severed forearm, taking off the Space Wristwatch, and he lost his mind, roaring in anger, "I’ll slaughter you all!"

Tang Zheng never had any intention of sparing Zhou Xiang. Seeing the Old Soldier make his move, he swiftly drew the military knife from the sheath on his thigh and thrust it into the fool’s eye socket.

With a splurt, blood spraying, Tang Zheng’s wrist twisted forcefully, slicing open Zhou Xiang’s eyebrow ridge, and one could even see the white brain pulp inside.

Seeing this scene, Lin Chen’s eyelid twitched, and he instinctively wanted to run away, but he dared not move, fearing that the slightest misstep would give the other side an excuse to kill him; not that he could have escaped anyway.

"Your Group Leader actually tolerates such dead weight, astonishing," Xu Biyun scoffed as she put away her firearm, mocking Lin Chen.

"Leave, or stay, it’s up to you," Tang Zheng said no more, deploying the Beetle Assault Vehicle so everyone could get on, leaving just four people remaining—a truly heavy casualty count.

"Are all survivors with Shooting series abilities cursed? First Liu Yue, then Zuo Yi, they really died too quickly," Xu Biyun sighed, recalling the girl she had participated in a modeling competition with.

"If they expose themselves to the enemy’s sight, they are sure to be the top targets to kill," Tang Zheng was frustrated by Zuo Yi’s death, but it was inevitable. If he had fled, he wouldn’t have deserved to be a soldier.

"Such a pity for a good man!" Lin Weiguo sighed. Zuo Yi’s personality had been much to his liking, but unfortunately, he was excessively unlucky.

"Let’s distribute the spoils of war," said Tang Zheng, finding an excuse to dispel the depressive atmosphere.

As a gesture of cooperation, Lin Chen even picked up the Defense Shield that Tang Zheng had given Zuo Yi and didn’t dare to touch it; he stripped off all the Protective Clothing as well.

Tang Zheng took out the Bug Heart, allowing it to devour the Protective Clothing. Three Fireflies, three Unicorns. After the feast, the long-inactive Bug Heart finally evolved to S-grade, but it still looked like a mass of heart tissue.

"The Conquerors from the Nepal Team are so poor," Xu Biyun glanced over. Aside from a Space Wristwatch, there were two S-grade Heavy Gravity Guns, two Moon Blades, three Light Defense Shields, and beyond that, a large amount of B-Class Weapons and Ammunition, worth five thousand Points—though in the eyes of Team Warhammer members, it seemed woefully inadequate.

Tang Zheng stored the firearms—they all had their own weapons by now. He gave the two Moon Blades to Xu Biyun and Lin Weiguo, then a Defense Shield each to the others, dividing the remaining Ammunition equally.

"Tang Zheng, I need some more equipment too!" Teng Yuangxiang licked her lips, hoping to get another Shield. If used well, this could mean another life. Without the shield she got from Tang Zheng, she knew she’d be dead.

"Wait until you prove your worth," Tang Zheng refused. He had given Teng Yuangxiang the shield to win her over, never really expecting her to survive to the end, so he could reclaim it at any time. However, he hadn’t expected this woman to be so lucky.

"How generous of you!" Seeing Tang Zheng’s actions, Lin Chen sneered. Their leader was good but not generous to this extent. Of course, the more Defense Shields and Moon Blades, the better.

Perhaps because the Team Battle had ended and the Gene Samples had been taken, the entire Laboratory’s defenses were dismantled. However, they weren’t safe yet. Likewise unbound, the Bugs started to emerge from their nests, launching an attack on them.

Although the Beetles weren’t large, they were still somewhat clumsy walking through the narrow corridors, so Tang Zheng’s group had to evacuate on foot, chased down like dogs.

This time, it wasn’t just Camel Bugs, but also a kind of bug the size of a Shepherd Dog, with six pairs of legs and four tentacles. But the most striking feature was the big mouth that took up two-thirds of its body, lined with sharp teeth.

Even from tens of meters away, these bugs swelled up like high-pressure pumps, suddenly contracted, and the acid stored in their bodies sprayed out from their mouths like swords, targeting Tang Zheng and his group.

The team swiftly raised their shields to defend, while gunfire filled the air. Magnetic Storm Balls streaked through the corridor, exploding on the bugs and turning them into a gory mess of minced meat.

"Tang Zheng, you take the lead," Xu Biyun had absolute faith in the Group Leader, knowing that he wouldn’t make a wrong judgment, and her only task was to fend off the enemies behind them.

Lin Weiguo felt that he could manage to look at the map and choose a route under the attack of the insect swarm, but it was too exhausting. Better leave it to Tang Zheng; that man wouldn’t make mistakes.

"This way." Tang Zheng sprinted with his rifle, turned the corner, and saw the corridor ahead packed with bugs. They were more than twenty meters away and about to pounce when he quickly drew his Devil Flame Pistol and pulled the trigger.

The single-target breakthrough was activated, energy gathering at the muzzle before firing, piercing through the swarm and leaving a large hole.

The Heavy Magnetostorm Rifle used an ammo clip of five hundred rounds, with a maximum firing rate of fifteen hundred rounds per minute, but even then, Tang Zheng was not satisfied. The rate of fire was somewhat slow, and the power wasn’t enough; at most he could kill only three bugs at a time.

Tang Zheng, armed with Hellfire and with full firepower unleashed, plunged into the swarm, creating a bloody massacre. Wherever he went, there wasn’t a single clean wall left in the entire corridor, all smeared with a thick layer of minced meat.

Lin Chen, supporting Zeng Fanghai, was very glad he hadn’t run away; otherwise, there was no way he would have escaped the laboratory.

A group of special bugs the size of yaks appeared, blocking their path and putting pressure on the team.

Outside the laboratory, Dantai’s squad had arrived and was hiding at an entrance, anxiously waiting.

"What if they don’t come out from here?" Lu Fan crouched on the ground, poking a can of food with a dagger, splashing juice, her face full of worry.

Little Lolita was originally paired with Qin Yan, but after getting separated, she first encountered three members of the Instant Noodle Team. After surviving a battle with the bugs, losing one, they reached Central City using a map found in the cabin. At an intersection, they spotted the green triangles lighting up on the radar.

"There’s no other way; without a map, we can only take a gamble," Dantai directed a newbie to operate the radar to give Tang Zheng directions.

"Doing this? Could it lead the enemy here? They definitely have strong players who arrived early," said a man in his thirties with a buzz cut, sitting on the ground and smoking a cigarette. His forehead was slightly furrowed, contemplating the possible situations. He was dressed in Firefly, holding a Heavy Gravity Gun, clearly a seasoned Conqueror with a powerful presence.

"Wouldn’t it be better if they appeared? We’ll just take them out together," Lu Fan ate a piece of tuna meat. Seeing a newbie staring at her with a gulp, Little Lolita handed over the can.

"Thank you!" The male newbie cheered, calling over two acquaintances to share the meal. Nearly two days of combat had also led some newbies to recognize trustworthy partners.

"Heh, no tax on bragging!" A woman with a ponytail holding a Magnetostorm Rifle glanced at Lu Fan, shrugged her shoulders, and expressed disbelief.

Little Lolita was wrapped in sportswear outside, concealing her Firefly. She carried an ordinary G36C assault rifle, hardly looking like a member of the Powerful Party.

"She’s playing dumb and eating tigers. The fact that a little girl can survive is not simple, and you see, Dantai’s attitude towards her is completely equal," the buzz cut man observed meticulously, revealing Lu Fan’s thoughts, "If you fought her, you’d lose eighty percent of the time."

"No way, I’m a second-order!" The ponytail woman knew the buzz-cut man never spoke without grounds and started reassessing Lu Fan.

Lu Fan gave a thumbs up, not denying the claim.

At that moment, Dantai’s squad was also a mixed team of more than thirty people including the captain of the Instant Noodle Team, the buzz-cut man. However, he disliked trouble and, upon witnessing Dantai’s strength, handed over command to him.

"Should I take the newbies to set some traps?" Waiting was making Lu Fan restless, worried about Tang Zheng and wanting to keep busy.

"No need," Dantai shook his head, "Save your energy as much as possible."

"What makes you so sure that the ones who get the gene samples and survive escaping are Tang Zheng and his team?" A male survivor questioned.

"Because he is Tang Zheng, our Group Leader, he’s never let me down!" Jing Xiang interjected, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. In her eyes, Tang Zheng cannot fail.

"Absolutely correct." Lu Fan snapped her fingers, and just as her words fell, an announcement from Silver Trojan resounded.

"Nepal’s mixed team is wiped out. Tang Zheng led his team to over-complete the mission within two hours, to the extent that other survivors hadn’t even started their tasks before it finished. Therefore, the second phase is cancelled and a new mission is launched for judgment."

"Damn, that’s impressive!" The buzz-cut man tossed away his cigarette. It would take others two hours just to get the map to Central City, yet they had already secured the gene samples and eliminated a Nepalese mixed team. And anyone who found this place must be at least not weak in strength.
