Chapter 957: Chapter 16 Blade Matriarch Bug and the New Teammate
The upper body of the Blade Matriarch Bug was humanoid, with dark green skin that made it well-adapted to moving in darkness. Its four tentacles were sharp arm blades capable of making dents over an inch deep in hard steel. Below the waist, its body resembled that of a spider, only its six abdominal limbs were also sharp, spur-covered blade legs that moved quickly and silently.
Its head was shaped like a human’s but possessed a pair of large compound eyes. Its mouth was agape with inch-long curved sharp teeth.
The monster’s jumping ability was astonishing, with no preparation its entire body launched like a cannon shell, hurtling towards Tang Zheng.
Seeing the Magnetic Storm Ball blocked by the skin of the Blade Matriarch Bug, Tang Zheng shot two Moon Blades at its head, but they only left a shallow scratch, with one even being deflected by its arm blade.
The Blade Matriarch Bug leaped into the air, its six blade legs coming together to form a spike, piercing down like a drill bit.
Unable to get up in time, Tang Zheng could only roll away. Boom—the Blade Matriarch Bug grazed past his body and shot into the ground, making an alloy floor break open over a foot deep, then swung its arm blades wildly while opening its mouth to spray acid.
Tang Zheng wanted to take this opportunity to attack, but the onslaught interrupted him. Air blades and acid hit the Light Defense Shield, making it wobble precariously.
"Run!" Tang Zheng rolled to dodge and waved, releasing the Osu Eagle. A flash of white light passed, and it struck the Blade Matriarch Bug hard, summoning the ancient warrior to appear on its rebound path. Following that, he swung his Warhammer down onto its body, blasting it away from the group.
The eagle let out a piercing cry, resembling a meteor as it collided with the matriarch, smashing it into the wall with a screeching sound that caved in a large section of the steel wall.
Tang Zheng drew his Devil Flame Pistol, aimed at the matriarch, and pulled the trigger. A pale blue energy quickly condensed; a second later, it erupted forth, the intense light almost blinding Tang Zheng.
This was a single-target breakthrough mode, finally creating a fist-sized wound on the Blade Matriarch Bug, flesh and blood splattering.
The matriarch was not low in intelligence. It sought to disengage from the warrior and the eagle to attack Tang Zheng, but was tightly ensnared. Tang Zheng certainly wasn’t going to put himself in danger.
Sizzle, sizzle—Tang Zheng moved and dodged, creating distance, and attacked the matriarch with the Devil Flame Pistol. Although time-consuming, it was safe. The monster’s arm blades were too sharp, capable of rending even the armor of the warrior and causing numerous injuries to the Osu Eagle. However, they could be summoned again after death, so Tang Zheng wasn’t distressed.
Stationed at the channel entrance, Teng Yuanxiang breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Tang Zheng stabilize the situation, but she didn’t attack, afraid of drawing the matriarch’s attention.
Tang Zheng’s weapons were too sharp; more wounds were appearing on the matriarch, and it started emitting agitated high-frequency screeches. Several rounds of Sonic Attacks all missed.
"Overwhelm? Not interested!" Tang Zheng showed no intention of donning Iron Hellfire to massacre it, even beginning to attack different parts to identify its fatal weakness. For a creature that could easily kill an ordinary Conqueror, it deserved attention.
Tang Zheng’s caution reaped rewards. After several failed attempts to escape, the Blade Matriarch Bug’s body suddenly flickered and disappeared into thin air.
"Teleport? Invisibility?" Tang Zheng’s every sweat gland stood on end as he immediately activated all his shields, moving next to the wall to ensure his back was secure. Then he checked the ground, trying to spot a shadow cast by the enemy, but found nothing.
A breath later, a strong wind hit his face, and an arm blade swung swiftly, cutting down on the shield. Wham, the Light Defense Shield shattered, but the Carapace Shield remained, blocking this assault.
Tang Zheng swung his Snow Agent Circle, missing, then fired off a Storm Barrage from the Devil Flame Pistol towards where the matriarch might be.
Under the barrage, even though the Blade Matriarch Bug didn’t reveal itself, the bullet hits disclosed its whereabouts.
Tang Zheng pursued, but lost the target. However, he was now back against the wall and had the Osu Eagle hover above while the ancient warrior returned to his side, guarding him securely.
"Go!" Tang Zheng, seeing the two women hiding at the channel entrance, tossed the Osu Eagle to them.
"We..." Teng Yuanxiang, seeing the monster vanish, was petrified and cried out for help to Tang Zheng. She didn’t expect that he had already taken care of their side, feeling deeply touched—this guy truly was a good person.
The Blade Matriarch Bug’s invisibility was a natural talent, but it consumed a vast amount of energy, thus was time-limited. It wouldn’t waste it on trash newbies, continuing instead to assault Tang Zheng.
Due to the matriarch moving quickly, Tang Zheng could hear a faint sound. However, capturing its position by this was impossible, so he switched to defense over offense. Thanks to the Chain of Sanctity, the warrior could last at least ten minutes, plenty of time to use it.
The Blade Matriarch Bug could still become invisible when attacking, but in front of a Conqueror like Tang Zheng, it also meant revealing its position.
Tang Zheng pretended to misjudge the position and fired explosively to the right. As expected, the Blade Matriarch Bug attacked from the other side, only to be penetrated by the Snow Agent Circle.
Squeak, squeak—The matriarch cried out as blood sprayed. Barely swinging its arm blade, it was struck by the warrior’s Warhammer and smashed thoroughly into the ground.
"Damn, even the blood sticking to it can’t be seen." Anything touched by the matriarch could turn invisible and disappear, so Tang Zheng’s tactic of using Paint Bullet to reveal its form failed. He took the opportunity while the warrior subdued it and raised his gun to fire again.
