Chapter 798: Chapter 61: Fierce Attack
Tang Zheng raised the First Bow of the East Sea Road and, drawing the bowstring to its limit, he rapidly fired five arrows. The speckled arrows whistled through the air and struck the Shadow Demon Warriors, piercing through them. Although not fatal, each shot inflicted injury. Although the bow’s lethality paled compared to the Demon Slaying Holy Flame, the speed of its shots was sufficient to make up for the difference in firepower.
Sha Ou, wielding an MP40 submachine gun, fired in short bursts at the Shadow Demons but achieved no war results. Eyeing the splendid longbow in Tang Zheng’s hands, envy filled him.
"Fanfan, give Brother Sha the Howling Reaper you don’t need." Because of his age, Tang Zheng didn’t mind addressing the man in his thirties respectfully as "brother."
Sha Ou immediately lit up with joy, hastily expressing his thanks. Though he didn’t know the price of the machine gun, he could guess it was expensive, as even Yao Feng, Tang Zheng’s loyal enforcer and supporter, had not been gifted a Howling Reaper.
"Uncle Sha, for you, I’m looking forward to your performance," the Little Lolita said with beaming eyes, the very picture of innocuousness, as she handed the MG3 machine gun over to Sha Ou.
Lu Fan had many retired weapons, but without Tang Zheng’s order, no one dared to take them.
"Ha, of course," Sha Ou chuckled. By now he dare not treat Lu Fan as an ignorant Little Lolita; not to mention her precociously mature mind, her powerful attack ability alone was enough to kill him.
With a flick of her Wisdom Sword, a thousand sword shadows shot out, staggering the Demonic Shadows. Then the Pepper Grinder cleared the way. Seeing the warriors retaliating with bronze cannons, the Little Lolita hardly dodged because they simply could not penetrate her Firefly Protective Clothing.
The Little Lolita, mounted on a Giant Spider, rolled past behind them, her performance surpassing that of Yu Manli and Pang Meiqin.
"Thank you," Sha Ou replied politely. Though others were courteous, he wasn’t going to act too presumptuously, truly considering himself a "brother," but he was nonetheless impressed by Tang Zheng’s generous spirit.
Pang Meiqin and Yu Manli followed behind, providing suppressive fire. With the number of Shadow Demons dwindling, the team’s advance was still decent.
At just a glance, Sha Ou fell in love with this machine gun—its black body emanated a palpable aura of carnage. A 300-round ammunition box hung under the machine gun, and the spread-style M13 bullet chain, filled with yellow-tinged 12.7mm large-caliber ammunition, was pressed inside the breech, ready to harvest the lives of its enemies. The sight was filled with brutal mechanical aesthetic.
Sha Ou pulled the trigger, and as the bullet chain flew, a barrage of bullets spouted forth, striking the Demonic Shadows and colliding with their armor, sparking a myriad of Mars.
"Should we blow up the building to flush out the principal?" Pang Meiqin suggested. The building was definitely packed with monsters at this point, and charging in would be almost certain death.
"No, charge in," Tang Zheng led everyone forward, continuing the assault, hoping to cross the field as quickly as possible.
"If we collapse the building, all the monsters will run out and we’ll definitely be surrounded. Charging in to find the principal might be a bit better," Lu Fan explained, guessing at Tang Zheng’s concerns.
Fortunately, the Silver Trojan didn’t betray them again. The radar screen clearly displayed the principal’s position.
Tang Zheng did not enter through the main entrance but, shielding his head, leaped and crashed through a glass window on the first floor. As he had just entered and not yet assessed the situation in the corridor on both sides, a demonized monster lunged out from an open classroom opposite.
It was a male high school student, another type of demonized monster. Instead of swelling, his body had become fragile and thin, as if he had been fasting for a month. His school uniform hung loosely on him. Crawling on all fours, his legs split 180 degrees, and his arms were also stretched to either side, forming a square as he moved. His repulsive manner of locomotion made the women sandwiched in the middle of the team want to vomit.
With no time to open fire, Tang Zheng flashed his knife and drew out Yukihiro Maru, stabbing towards the demonized monster.
With a squelch, the monster’s neck was pierced straight through as if it had willfully presented itself. Green blood splattered out, and with a swing of his arm, Tang Zheng sliced open half of its neck. The monster’s head drooped, and it was then flipped onto the ground by his longbow.
The monster, with its strong vitality, still attempted to rise and attack. Sha Ou, following behind, burst in and shot at its body. The bullets drilled in, shaking it like a sieve.
Another leaped out, and Sha Ou hastily shifted the muzzle. The recoil from the large-caliber bullets took effect, tumbling it back into the classroom.
Hearing the noise, the monsters wandering in the corridors on both sides began charging at Tang Zheng.
"Sha Ou, Meiqin, Manli, you are responsible for the back. Lu Fan, you’re with me on the main attack." Not wanting to waste time, Tang Zheng and Lu Fan formed an assault spearhead. The lethality of the two was beyond question as they charged towards the principal’s office with wind-rushing and lightning-speed.
All the student monsters in the corridor converged, and they could even crawl on the ceiling, leaving green slime everywhere they went. Their disgusting way of moving almost made the women in the middle of the group throw up.
"Watch their bellies," Tang Zheng cautioned. Compared to their shriveled limbs, their bellies were rather large, which he suspected might be some sort of attack.
Tang Zheng didn’t want to let them get close—it was too dangerous. Just as he was about to draw his longbow to shoot, a monster burst out of a classroom sucking in a deep breath before spraying a large amount of green, corrosive acid.
Tang Zheng couldn’t dodge, for the women behind him would surely be injured, so he immediately launched the Light Defense Shield. The acid splashed onto the ground, sizzling upon contact and corroding into small pits.
Lu Fan swung his hand and plunged the Wisdom Sword into its head, then followed up with a single shot. A white light beam instantly exploded its head, vaporizing part of it.
During this brief respite, the monster had already charged to within fifteen meters in the corridor, opening its massive jaws and seeming ready to spray its acid.
Tang Zheng drew his bow, triggered the Hundred-shot Skill, and in an instant, the corridor was filled with speckled arrows. The carpet-fire pushed the monster back, shattering even the glass doors and walls, with dust billowing everywhere.
"The power’s out, and this damn school is still holding classes," Lu Fan complained bitterly. If all the citizens had evacuated, there wouldn’t have been so many demonized monsters.
Meiji had nothing to say; she suddenly realized that coming along was a mistake. In front of those monsters, let alone attacking, she didn’t even have the ability to protect herself. However, she had no regrets.
Cheng Cheng sat atop the Giant Spider, holding a Hand Grenade, but found no opportunity to use it.
Although it was troublesome, the team still made it to the third floor. Tang Zheng no longer dared to use the Hundred-shot Skill, for if the stairwell collapsed, he would be crying without tears.
Tang Zheng took out his Pressurized Forest Machine Gun and used it to clear the way. As a monster appeared at a classroom door, he swung the muzzle toward it. As casings flew, the beast was knocked rolling, its clothing and flesh shredded by bullets.
Reaching the stairs and upon entering the fourth floor, the team finally encountered resistance. A Shadow Demon Warrior materialized at the stairwell, holding a Bronze Cannon and aiming at them.
With nowhere to hide, Tang Zheng took large strides to shield everyone in front of him. Hundreds of hits pinged off the Defense Shield, deflecting the projectiles with a clang, and then six Shadow Demon Ninjas appeared from the ceiling, unsheathing their Ninja Blades and swooping down.
Song Huiqiao screamed, and the team was immediately scattered.
"Warrior," Tang Zheng swung his fist, smashing it into the face of the Black Shadow above his head, knocking the ninja to the ground. He then stepped down on it and drove the Wisdom Sword into its head, cleaving the skull in two with a forceful slice.
A ninja landed beside Tang Zheng and struck at him with its blade. The Warrior appeared in front of Tang Zheng not only blocking the second volley of Iron cannon shots from the Shadow Demon Warrior, but also swung an arm, striking the ninja’s neck and carrying it with a whoosh into the wall.
Crash, the entire wall broke apart, dust filling the air.
Screams arose; someone was injured for the first time since the assault began. The short-haired desperado’s back was slashed, blood flowing freely, and Song Huiqiao’s arm was also hurt, though fortunately not severely enough to hinder her movement.
"Cheng Cheng, Platinum Queen," Lu Fan knew Tang Zheng was too busy to be distracted and shouted, taking the initiative to look after Cheng Cheng. In this situation, her ability was practically useless, at best she could only form the Desert Barrier for defense, but the Little Lolita preferred to battle.
Cheng Cheng was very obedient to Lu Fan, and in the next moment, her entire body turned into Diamonds. Under the sunlight streaming in through the windows, she sparkled with Silver light, dazzling to the extreme.
Clang, a Ninja Blade chopped down on Cheng Cheng’s head, but no sparks flew, and the blade broke completely. The little girl couldn’t withstand the strike and, although unharmed, she sat down with a thud on the spider’s back.
"Die." Yu Manli activated Dragon’s Strength and grabbed the ninja, smashing it to the ground where it dissipated into black smoke.
Pang Meiqin reacted quickly and wasn’t even touched.
"Telekinesis." Sha Ou activated his Ability, and a ninja swinging its blade at him was struck as if hit by an invisible sledgehammer, tumbling away.
Gu Xueqi for the first time used her Phoenix Nirvana in front of everyone, and a Phoenix the size of a fist burst forth from her fingertips. It slammed into the ninja’s face, exploding and scattering countless fine fireballs.
Although panic was inevitable, the team quickly gained the upper hand and took control of the situation, killing the last Shadow Demon Ninja. Tang Zheng recognized a problem with the team.
"Faster." Tang Zheng led the charge upstairs. Except for himself and Lu Fan, the others had no mounts, which clearly constrained the team’s speed. They needed to solve this issue quickly, or else they wouldn’t stand a chance in a fight, and might not even have the opportunity to escape. Furthermore, they were powerless against Fantasy Genre monsters. Moon Blade, Dragon Bone Curved Blade, and other S-grade artifacts couldn’t be used, which vastly limited their power.
Tang Zheng had no time to worry about Yao Feng, hoping he wasn’t foolish enough to duke it out with the Reaper. But the man had luck on his side and managed to escape. Li Bo, motivated by a bit of selfishness, found him and even took care of Kenichi Aoki.
Sparing no expense, Tang Zheng started using Spiritual Power Hand Grenades to clear the path. He would toss several into any classroom doors along the way. Five minutes later, the group finally reached the principal’s office, shattered the door, and saw what the ’principal’ had become.
It was a short-statured man with stubby limbs who was now on all fours, hunched over a desk, greedily gobbling up a female teacher. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, feel free to come to Qidian to cast your recommendation votes and monthly votes. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
