Chapter 797: Chapter 60 All Blown Up
Tang Zheng had absolutely no hope that Yao Feng and Li Bo would complete the mission. If they could lure away a bunch of monsters, that would suffice, essentially making use of waste. If there had been enough vehicles, he would have sent Song Huiqiao and the short-haired ruffian as well,
If Li Bo knew Tang Zheng’s plans, he probably would explode with anger and fight him to the death.
"Alright, Aoki and Meiji, find a place to hide and wait for the combat to end. Jing Xiang, take good care of Cheng Cheng. We start now." Time was too pressing for Tang Zheng to come up with detailed tactics, he could only play it by ear.
"Wait, Uncle, I can’t set up the bomb traps by myself. How about we switch?" Lu Fan was very confident he would complete the task. He just wanted an excuse to keep Tang Zheng with him. They were not short on cannon fodder here; Song Huiqiao and even Aoki could be sent out.
Song Huiqiao’s heart immediately tightened, fearing her name would be called. Although Yu Manli’s face was expressionless, she couldn’t help but curse inside, but she still had to follow orders and didn’t dare openly defy Tang Zheng.
Pang Meiqin actually understood Tang Zheng’s difficulties. Besides, she was the best driver. If she was careful, she wouldn’t die, and even if she failed, she felt Tang Zheng wouldn’t punish her. Hearing Little Lolita’s words, she immediately responded.
"No need to switch. Let this Japanese policewoman do it. Setting up bomb traps is a crucial task. If it fails, all our efforts as bait would be for nothing." Pang Meiqin spoke in Japanese, not avoiding Aoki.
"I agree." Sha Ou frowned and nodded. In his mind, Little Lolita was always unreliable, and as for the life or death of the Japanese, it was none of his business. If he was reluctant, they could just strap a bomb to him and solve everything. So, he immediately made this suggestion.
"So, Mr. Aoki, please bear with it and lure the Demonic Shadow for us," Pang Meiqin quickly translated.
"No, I won’t go," said Kenichi Aoki. Of course, he didn’t want to be cannon fodder and began to shout loudly, even preparing to turn and run. "I’m just an ordinary person."
"We are ordinary people too," Yu Manli wouldn’t let him go. Quick with her hands, she grabbed his shoulder and without a word, slapped him twice.
Aoki’s nose nearly bled from the hits and he tried to draw his gun in self-defense, only to be pinned down with his hands behind his back by Yu Manli.
"Let go of Aoki-senpai," cried Kita-jima Miki. She was taken aback by their sudden betrayal and drew her handgun to try to make a stand.
With a single stretch of his hand, Tang Zheng grabbed Meiji’s wrist, twisted it and subdued her, pushing her onto the car hood.
"Meiqin, Brother Sha, strap this Remote Control Bomb to him," Tang Zheng took out a waistcoat with three bombs and handed it to Pang Meiqin with a square face. "Meiji, don’t make trouble. We’re also trying to save the Japanese. As a police officer, Aoki should have that sense of duty."
Sha Ou was a tough guy with an imposing build, and he made no room for Aoki to argue. He slipped it over him, clicked it locked, and pulled out the key.
Aoki’s face went ashen, realizing he couldn’t escape this plight, cursing these Chinese to die. As for saving others, that was none of his concern.
"I’ll go, I’ll take Aoki-senpai’s place," the policewoman’s cheek was pressed against the car, uncomfortable, but that didn’t deter her from volunteering to replace Aoki as bait due to her overflowing sense of justice.
"Stop wasting time and get moving," Tang Zheng waved them off, urging them to action, then pushed Aoki into the driver’s seat. "If you don’t complete the mission in five minutes, I will detonate the bomb."
The engines roared as the military jeep and two war chariots drove off, with Aoki being no exception, because he didn’t want to die.
"You evil spirit," Meiji cursed Tang Zheng for the second time.
"Lu Fan, start setting up," Tang Zheng said, dismissing the curses. He got on his Velociraptor Mount and began running around the area quickly, dropping bombs.
This time, Tang Zheng really invested a lot, throwing more than two thousand Spiritual Power Bombs, enough to blow the entire street block to smithereens.
"Who are you? Why are you fighting those monsters?" Miki, now free, didn’t run away but instead asked Tang Zheng with a face full of astonishment. The Velociraptor and the wristwatch that could produce infinite supplies made her incredibly curious.
"Go ask your grandmother," Tang Zheng didn’t want to explain, spent three minutes dropping the bombs and then took Cheng Cheng to the predetermined location, with Gu Xueqi and Jing Xiang quickly following.
The first to reach the bomb zone was Old Wang. The Demonic Shadows he brought weren’t many, only about two hundred, which disappointed Tang Zheng. Yu Manli looked at the radar, reaching the second designated stop given by Tang Zheng. With three hundred Demonic Shadows behind her car, it wasn’t much, but the task was complete.
The third to arrive was Li Bo. This guy was obviously most afraid of dying, bringing fewer than a hundred Demonic Shadows behind his car. Moreover, his driving was the worst, stumbling along, and it seemed he couldn’t read a map. He actually ran off course, breaking into Pang Meiqin’s stopping point, and then without regard, abandoned his car and the monsters and ran.
"That bastard, if Meiqin gets hurt, I’ll slaughter him." Tang Zheng really felt like shooting the guy; he was too unreliable.
Brother Sha did everything by the book, drawing over three hundred monsters without any mistakes. Upon reaching the dropping point, he flung open the car door and sprinted toward the nearby building, retreating to the designated location with the utmost speed.
Meiqin, relying on her excellent driving skills, even dashed into the school square for a round, attracting the most shadow demons—an impressive count of more than six hundred. However, this caused some delay. After glancing at the radar screen, she saw that the dropping point was occupied and immediately yanked the steering wheel to change her direction.
Seeing the Beautiful Leg Stewardess adapt well and withdraw in time, Tang Zheng heaved a sigh of relief. But then he started to curse as Yao Feng, trying to show off, had drawn too many and evidently couldn’t make it in time. As for Aoki, probably due to nervousness, his car had stalled and was parked by the roadside, without having lured a single monster.
"We can’t wait any longer. The shadow demons are starting to enter the building." Lu Fan grabbed the telescope and took a quick look, urging his uncle. The only safe place nearby was inside the building. If the shadow demons broke in, then the bomb trap would be rendered ineffective.
"Get down." Tang Zheng knew exactly what to do and decisively pressed the detonator.
Boom, boom, boom. The violent explosions immediately swept through the four nearby streets. Flames soared up like a dragon, spreading across the entire field of vision. Billowing smoke and debris filled the air.
Everyone struggled to keep their footing, feeling as if the earth itself was shaking. Various pieces of debris tossed into the air by the shockwave fell with endless noise. The buildings close to the four explosion points couldn’t withstand the force, and walls collapsed.
As soon as the explosions ceased, Lu Fan disregarded the danger and positioned himself at the window to observe. He could see that the shadow demons were blasted into the air and then fell down like tattered sacks, their bodies battered and torn.
As the dust settled, everyone was coughing incessantly. The density of the dust was so thick it directly impaired visibility—beyond fifty meters, nothing was clear. But Tang Zheng had no time to wait for the dust to clear.
"Let’s go." Holding Cheng Cheng, Tang Zheng rushed down from the building. "Lu Fan, Jing Xiang, be careful to clear the shadow demons inside the building."
Tang Zheng had no intention of engaging in a bitter fight. When he was on the third floor, he took a glance at the radar. According to everyone’s locations, he chose a bedroom in the center of the building, so everyone was close by, and then he ran into it, following up with a punch that shattered the window. "Lu Fan, set up an earthen bridge."
"On it." Lu Fan unleashed his ability, and the sand coalesced to form a staircase in less than three seconds.
"What if they don’t notice?" Song Huiqiao had little faith in Li Bo’s ability to adapt on the spot.
"Then they might as well become fodder for the demons. You guys go down first and be careful." This round of attacks had likely killed about fifteen hundred shadow demons, about two-thirds of the number at Chuanwen High School. All in all, the mission’s objective was met. Even if the newbies died, they’d have paid for themselves.
Pang Meiqin was indeed the first to arrive, unharmed, and signaled Tang Zheng before withdrawing down the stairs. Brother Sha was the second to arrive, Yu Manli was half a step behind, and as for Li Bo, he was lost again. On the radar screen, the red dot marking his name moved erratically like a headless fly.
"This damn kid, I’ll pick him up." Brother Sha didn’t want to abandon his fellow villager and took off running. Tang Zheng truly didn’t want him to leave and grabbed his arm with one hand.
"It’s safe here. Li Bo will be fine. What we need to do now is to kill the principal." After saying that, Tang Zheng didn’t even take the stairs, but instead jumped straight down to the street. With his current physical condition, even jumping down from the fifth floor wouldn’t be a problem.
Brother Sha could tell what was more important and turned to leave. As he was delayed, Old Wang also charged up. He was an honest man without the slightest bit of cunning, wanting to fight alongside Brother Sha.
"Meiji, find a safe spot to stay." Tang Zheng had no way to look after her anymore.
Meiji didn’t speak, but stubbornly followed behind the group. This policewoman, brimming with a sense of justice, also wanted to contribute because she had received Nanobot Injection and had been treated by Daylily, which greatly alleviated her wounds, though pain was still inevitable.
Her actions earned Gu Xueqi’s appreciation. The school beauty glanced over and pointed her finger, sending out a small bird made of orange-red flames the size of a fingernail that crashed into the policewoman’s ribs, immediately lessening the pain and slowing the worsening of her injuries.
Gu Xiaohua’s ability was of the Healing System, but she didn’t advertise it for her own protection.
"Brother Sha, Gu Xueqi, what’s your ability?" Tang Zheng lent Brother Sha a Velociraptor Mount and charged together with him. Seizing a brief respite, he asked.
"Telekinesis." Brother Sha didn’t keep it a secret, anyway, it would be easy to tell once he used it.
"Phoenix Nirvana." Gu Xueqi knew she couldn’t hide it and revealed it. "Mainly healing, with some offensive capabilities."
"Thank God, finally there’s a doctor in the team." Lu Fan, riding a Giant Spider with Cheng Cheng, beamed and made the sign of the cross over his chest in a playful manner.
Tang Zheng glanced back at the resilient school beauty and then let the matter go as he and Brother Sha had already broken into Chuanwen High School. Instead of using the main entrance, they blasted a hole in the perimeter wall with a rifle.
A few stray shadow demon warriors that hadn’t been lured away were startled and charged over. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
