Chapter 794: Chapter 57: The Severely Injured Policewoman

"Let’s go." Tang Zheng glanced at the radar screen, which blinked with red dots indicating the number and locations of the Shadow Demons. However, he chose not to rush in to fight them. The priority was to rendezvous with the other members of the team. Besides, there were plenty of Shadow Demons to kill. There was no need for him to stay in the hunting zone.

Now that they had this sturdy armored vehicle, they were much safer than they would be in a normal car. Once Song Huiqiao and Jing Xiang were safe, they began looking around with curiosity - after all, they had never had the chance to touch a military vehicle in their lives.

"Can’t you learn something more useful?" Tang Zheng frowned, disapproving of the girls’ behavior. Since he had to drive, he couldn’t possibly handle the artillery at the same time—the 35mm machine gun was effectively useless. If faced with a Shadow Demon or a demonized creature, their only option would be to run.

The two women fell silent, startled by his words.

"Jing Xiang, you’re in charge of the vehicle-mounted machine gun. Shoot if you see any monsters. Don’t worry about wasting bullets, but try to control your rate of fire as much as possible."

Song Huiqiao’s expression darkened. She knew that Tang Zheng was attempting to train Jing Xiang and improve her shooting skills.

"Tang Zheng, what should I do?" Song Huiqiao didn’t want to give up. She wanted to perform even better than Jing Xiang and seize an opportunity for herself.

"Stand by."

Tang Zheng suddenly sped up, driving recklessly down the streets. Tokyo had lost power, and daily life had come to a halt, so there was hardly any traffic or people on the streets, allowing him to drive unhindered.

The war chariot’s tracks scraped against the asphalt, leaving deep marks. The vehicle made a beautiful drift and slid into a street corner. Then it twisted its body, drove over the sidewalk, and charged onto the street.

The trees planted by the roadside were grazed by the infantry armored vehicle, scraping off a patch of bark. They shook violently, shedding a shower of green leaves.

At this moment, Ikebukuro felt like Tang Zheng’s backyard, a place where he could roam freely—provided he had the nerve.

"Be careful, there’s an obstacle." Song Huiqiao, who was observing the surrounding environment through the periscope, gave a warning. Dozens of motorcycles were scattered randomly on the road ahead.

Apparently, a group of street racers had left them here. As for the owners of the motorcycles, they had turned into demonized creatures. They were smashing wildly at a comic store, having broken into the shop and killed and devoured the Japanese citizens who were still alive inside.

Probably alerted by the noise of the infantry vehicle’s engine, the demonized monsters rushed out of the comic store toward the roadway to intercept them.

"Jing Xiang, blow them up." Tang Zheng didn’t slow down. Instead, he increased the speed to its maximum. The Type 19 infantry tracked armored vehicle, like a ferocious armored beast, sped forward as swiftly as the wind and lightning, charging onward.

The 12.7mm vehicle-mounted heavy machine gun, operated by Jing Xiang, began to roar, spitting deadly flames. Bullets hit the ground, splashing up columns of dirt.

One of the demonized monsters who was attempting to block the armored vehicle’s way began to charge, trying to halt the machine with its flesh and blood.

"Suicidal fool." Tang Zheng suddenly slowed down. Then, when they were only about three meters apart, he instantly sped up again. The demonized monster misjudged the timing and slammed headfirst into the front of the vehicle. It then tumbled underneath the vehicle, where the armored vehicle’s tracks rolled it over like two battle axes.

The whole vehicle shuddered, causing Jing Xiang, who had been holding onto the machine gun, to lose her balance, leading her shots astray.

"Jing Xiang, get in the tank and close the hatch." Tang Zheng ordered loudly, as these demonized monsters weren’t foolish and seemed to be preparing to jump on the vehicle. If they succeeded, Jing Xiang would be in danger.

"Okay!" Jing Xiang responded quickly, following the instructions. She closed the hatch just in time to see a demonized monster flying over the vehicle and splattering her with blood.

"You should aim better." Song Huiqiao couldn’t help but complain about Jing Xiang’s poor shooting. However, she immediately bit her tongue as the armored vehicle jolted.

The armored vehicle plowed through the demonized monsters and moved forward. Nevertheless, a few of them managed to successfully jump onto it and started to hammer at the vehicle’s sides.

After crushing the dozens of motorcycles under its tracks, the vehicle lurched like a ship in a storm, shaking off the monsters that had clung to it.

Through the periscope, Song Huiqiao saw that the motorcycles had been crushed into a pile of scrap metal.

Ignoring these creatures, Tang Zheng drove towards Pang Meiqin’s hunting area, which was the closest to their location. As they were passing by the Tokyo branch office, however, they heard gunshots nearby. Tang Zheng was about to drive over to check when he saw a misshapen police car burst from a corner. Behind it, about a dozen Shadow Demon Cavalry chased, bombarding the police car with their cannons until it was riddled with holes.

A series of loud shots echoed as hundreds of bullets hit the car’s sides. The driver must have been shot, as the police car was now swerving dangerously. One of the policemen was fighting back with a submachine gun, albeit to little effect.

Upon seeing the steel behemoth of an infantry war chariot approaching, its mounted machine gun suppressing the enemy fire, the two policemen, who had thought that death was certain, were immediately revitalized. Yet another round of cannon fire came. This time, bullets pierced the side of the car. The driver, injured in the arm, lost control of the steering wheel, and the car tilted sideways, slamming into the roadside wall. Had the driver not reacted quickly to hit the brakes, he would have undoubtedly suffered more severe injuries.

The male policeman in the passenger seat did not escape but instead tried his best to rescue the driver while continuously shouting for the armored vehicle to hurry up.

"They look familiar." Looking at the bandage wrapped around the male police officer’s head, Tang Zheng recognized him as Kenichi Aoki, the man who had been knocked down by a group of hooligans when trying to prevent them from looting the convenience store a few days ago. "The other one couldn’t be Kita-jima Miki, could it?"

As the primary driver, Tang Zheng’s vision was not affected. He saw Kenichi Aoki pull the faint Miki Kita-jima out of the pilot seat and decided to delay a little more time to save them. All things considered, these two were good people.

The war chariot did not pause in the slightest, it surpassed the smashed police car, and crashed directly into the cavalry. The ability’s cooldown time has not yet arrived, and Tang Zheng didn’t want to waste the seeds and reactivate them, so he decided to fight hand to hand.

Boom, boom, boom, the three leading demon shadow cavalry hit the vehicle’s front armour, then fell over, only to get crushed by the tank tracks.

Tang Zheng reversed the vehicle, crushing them again. However, these monsters were highly resilient and had not died even after this.

"Don’t get out," Tang Zheng warned, opened the tank lid, and jumped out. In the process, he hefted an AT-4 on his shoulder.

A demon shadow cavalry was racing towards the two police officers, brandishing a Yari. Right when it was about to stab Kenichi Aoki, a rocket was launched. It hit the creature’s back and sent it flying.

Discarding the drained rocket launcher, Tang Zheng took out the East Sea Road’s First Bow, leaped on the war chariot, and shot it while he ascended to the highest point.

Upon launching the Hundred-shot Skill, hundreds of speckled arrows swallowed a dozen or so demon shadow cavalry, shooting them off their horses. Although their armor was shattered, they could still fight.

Jumping back onto the ground, Tang Zheng unsheathed his Snow-shiro Maru in his left hand, and the Demon Slaying Holy Flame in the right, making his way towards them.

Kenichi Aoki’s eyes nearly bulged out of his sockets. First, he saw this group of ancient warriors, and then, a grown man who could fight them directly. Had it not been for the pain from the wound on his arm, he would have thought he was dreaming.

Miki Kita-jima watched Tang Zheng, her heart finally unburdened. For some reason, she felt a sense of safety around him.

The Shadow Demon Warrior pointed a cannon and arrows at Tang Zheng, preparing to kill him.

Snow-shiro Maru, worthy of being an SS-Class Item, cleaved through each target like a hot knife through butter, more so against spiritual creatures, decapitating them with just one strike.

Using Z-type movements to evade attacks, Tang Zheng reached a warrior, his blade flashed like a cascade, and the demon’s two arms along with the cannon were severed and sent into mid-air.

Consistently shooting the Golden Deer Projectile, Tang Zheng flicked his wrist, causing the 360-degree rotation of the gun body, reloading instantly, then firing again.

Within two minutes, ten or so demon shadow cavalry were reduced to a pile of rubble. Song Huiqiao and Jing Xiang emerged from the chariot.

"Do you need help?" Tang Zheng asked. Miki Kita-jima’s right arm and ribs were a bloody mess. Her blood continued to seep out, and her lips were turning white.

"Hold on, stop right there. Don’t move," Kenichi Aoki was about to express his gratitude when a sudden realization caught him, and he urgently pointed his gun at Tang Zheng. How did these civilians have an Infantry Armored Car? This was equipment belonging to the Self-Defense Force.

"You think these threats will work?" Tang Zheng walked steadily towards him. On the ground was a warrior, cleaved in half, who was yet to die. He reached out for his Samurai Sword to kill Tang Zheng.

Tang Zheng kicked the creature’s wrist, sending the Samurai sword flying. He then stepped on its head, his gun muzzle pointed at its temples.

Bang! The buckshot entered, the warrior’s head instantly detonated into a cloud of debris, then dissolved into black mist.

Kenichi Aoki’s arm trembled. Through his eyes, this person was no different from an evil spirit.

"Ms. Kita-jima requires medical attention or she will die from excessive blood loss," Tang Zheng sighed. If it weren’t for the courage she displayed that day, he wouldn’t have cared less about her life or death.

"Please forgive me for my rudeness. We need your help," looking over at Miki Kita-jima, Kenichi Aoki quickly bowed to Tang Zheng, apologizing. For the sake of his subordinate’s life, he was willing to lower his head. As for going to the hospital, he feared it would be too late and likely not safe enough.

"Jing Xiang, take Cheng Cheng inside," Tang Zheng warned, before approaching Ms. Kita-jima. He gave her general condition a once-over, picked her up, and made his way towards the nearest civilian house.

"Wait." Kenichi Aoki was about to stop him, only to be met with Tang Zheng’s fierce gaze that forced him to swallow his words.

"Just borrowing, don’t worry, won’t touch anything," Tang Zheng kicked the main entrance, moved into the living room, and examined, "Move the tea table, I am going to perform surgery on the carpet."

"Surgery?" Kenichi’s body stiffened as he looked at Tang Zheng. At this point, Miki Kita-jima had fainted.

"Yes, haven’t you seen all the bullets embedded in her body?" Tang Zheng placed Ms. Kita-jima on the carpet and continued his instructions, "Kenichi, you step back, Jing Xiang, boil some water."

Kenichi was clearly unwilling, fearing Tang Zheng might harm Miki, but before he could react, Tang Zheng karate chopped his neck, and he fell unconscious. (To Be Continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to recommend a vote or a monthly ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
