Chapter 793 - 56 Individual Firepower

Chapter 793: Chapter 56 Individual Firepower

In such a city fraught with peril, it is safest for survivors to stay together. Jing Xiang strained her neck, her face full of anticipation as she looked at the street they were about to reach, wondering who they would encounter. However, the next moment, her spirits were dampened by Tang Zheng’s words.

"We are probably entering the zone controlled by the Self-Defense Force in Ikebukuro." Tang Zheng’s brows slightly creased. He realized that due to the magical scene around him, not only his Velociraptor mount, but also his Bumblebee war chariot, BMP-3 infantry armored car, and Beetle Chariot, all were rendered unusable by his Space Wristwatch. Seeing that the city was filled with dangers at every turn, ordinary cars could no longer satisfy his need for protection and speed.

"You didn’t actually see them, did you?" Song Huiqiao questioned, thinking that Tang Zheng made his conclusions too hastily.

"I can hear the continuous gunshots, even the explosive sound of a machine gun firing. The Conquerors don’t have such firepower, not to mention the police station in Ikebukuro, so the answer is quite clear," Tang Zheng replied without hesitation. As thoughts raced through his mind on how to capture their war chariot intact, he told Huiqiao, "Drive over there."

"What are you planning to do? If you’re correct, those are the heavily armed regular forces of the Japanese military. We should avoid them," Song Huiqiao warned, her voice raising. In her eyes, soldiers were formidable individuals and not something regular citizens could go against.

"Are you thinking of hijacking a car?" Jing Xiang, despite only spending a few days with Tang Zheng, had an inkling of what he had in mind.

"Are you insane?" Song Huiqiao shouted in panic. After her outburst, her face paled, realizing she misspoke.

"Regardless of what I say, you must follow unconditionally and leave immediately if you can’t. Drive over there for now and prepare for combat." Tang Zheng readied his Gauss sniper rifle. His opponents were clearly engaged in a battle with the monsters, and he saw a chance to intervene.

Song Huiqiao didn’t dare talk back and drove obediently. After turning onto the main street, they saw a group of Shadow Demon Warriors on war horses, frantically racing down, pursuing two infantry armored cars and three military Hummers.

The 12.7mm vehicle-mounted machine guns on the Hummers roared non-stop, spraying bullets at the demonic shadows. However, they could only temporarily suppress them and couldn’t inflict lethal damage due to a lack of firepower.

Although the 35mm machine gun on the infantry armored car was powerful, dealing with each demon with one single hit, ammunition shortages forced them to fire intermittently. The Self-Defense Force entered Ikebukuro to maintain public order and did not expect to encounter the Shadow Demon Warriors, leaving them quite unprepared.

The soldiers on the armored vehicles fired their rifles through the muzzle at the demons but to minimal effect.

The fleet made a left turn at a crossroad aiming to return to the temporary base as soon as possible. Even after noticing Tang Zheng’s vehicle, they paid no attention.

"Catch up." Tang Zheng discarded the idea of using the AT-4 Rocket Launcher, instead changing the ammunition of the Gauss sniper rifle to include armor-piercing incendiary bullets with spiritual power.

The luck of this fleet was abysmal. Apart from being chased by the demonic shadows, demonized monsters would occasionally launch surprise attacks from buildings on both sides. The worst problem was that they had stayed in Ikebukuro for too long. Two to three soldiers began transforming into monsters on each vehicle.

The soldiers realised the problem. Some resolute soldiers bravely opened fire on their comrades, but the bullets didn’t have enough power to kill the demons. Three seconds later, the soldiers finished transforming and launched a ruthless punch at their fellows, causing immediate compound fractures and death.

The fleet had no choice but to stop abruptly, the tires rubbed vigorously against the ground, leaving several black marks behind.

"Stop." Upon entering the same street and closing the distance to 800 meters, Tang Zheng immediately instructed Song Huiqiao to stop their vehicle. He then summoned the three female gunmen, distributed weapons to them, and started attacking.

Gunshots rang out. The female gunmen began to fire at the demons. A portion of the demon warriors immediately turned around and started charging at Tang Zheng.

"Keep an eye on our surroundings. If anything goes wrong, start the car and escape." Tang Zheng crouched behind the car, using it as a shelter, and fired back at the demons with his AK74M. The Bronze Cannon that Jing Xiang unleashed knocked a hole in the vehicle.

The shooting skills of the female gunmen were unrivaled. The demon warriors could not advance more than a hundred meters before leaving behind more than a dozen bodies. The only reason the death toll wasn’t higher was due to their superior resistance to bullets.

Tang Zheng leaned the butt of his AK against his shoulder and fired at the demons. Even though it had a drum magazine, its rate of fire was too slow. Considering his previously acquired S-grade Heavy Magnetostorm Rifle lacked spiritual power attacks, Tang Zheng found it uninteresting.

"I should find a way to get an S-grade spirit-based rapid-fire weapon. The power of ordinary bullets is simply too low." Tang Zheng didn’t want to use the Gatling, as it was too wasteful with bullets. Even with hundreds of thousands of rounds in reserve, he couldn’t afford such extravagance.

Song Huiqiao glanced at Tang Zheng and realized he was discontent. Looking at the sheer firepower of the three female gunmen, Sophie with her Gauss Sniper Rifle, Alizeh with her Demon Slaying Holy Flame, and Marilyn with her East Sea Road First Bow, all S-grade weapons, were more than enough to suppress the charging demon cavalry. Yet, he was still not satisfied.

"Leader, can I borrow your Gatling machine gun? I want to fight too," Song Huiqiao asked, gathering her courage.

"No need," Tang Zheng refused. Seeing Jing Xiang crouching behind the car, seriously firing an AK74M, he pulled out the Gatling and gave it to her. This made Song Huiqiao feel bitter.

Jing Xiang was overjoyed. This silly girl was terrified of Tang Zheng’s scolding and didn’t dare make any requests, for fear of punishment.

A dozen soldiers, lucky enough to have escaped demonization, jumped off their vehicles, formed a combat formation and retreated towards a building while calling for support from their base.

Several demonized monsters, drooling, chased after them.

"Open fire, open fire." the sergeant shouted loudly. However, bullets hitting the monsters only tore away some of their skin and flesh and were unable to kill them. Furthermore, the stopping power was too little to suppress them.

In the blink of an eye, a monster reached the tail of the formation and slapped a soldier’s head, their only abilities being brute force and tough bodies. But that was enough to massacre ordinary human beings.

A pop was heard, like smashing a rotten watermelon, and the unlucky soldier’s head immediately shattered. The headless body fell to the ground, still clutching the trigger due to the loss of nerve control, continuously shooting, hitting his comrades.

Without a bulletproof vest, the twenty-something soldier fell to the ground after being hit. A monster pounced on him, grabbed his shirt single-handedly, bit his face, and then tore away half his cheek.

The soldier let out a sharp scream, but no one could save him in time. The monsters had charged in, treating them as prey, and completely massacred them.

Watching the monsters tearing their clothes off soldiers and eating them alive, Song Huiqiao and Jing Xiang turned as pale as ghosts, as well as Little Orange who was trembling like a quail, retreated to the side of a tire. She wanted to be close to Tang Zheng, but she didn’t dare disturb his combat.

"Sorry to interrupt your meal." Tang Zheng couldn’t bear to watch any longer, took out an AT-4 anti-tank launcher, held it on his shoulder, and aimed at the monsters through the sight mechanism.

"Die." As Tang Zheng pulled the trigger, with a thud, the rocket left a blazing red flame tail and quickly shot into the monster group.

A boom followed as shrapnel and shockwaves swept across the monster group, instantly sending them flying. However, these weapons did not attach any spiritual power, therefore, the killing was not significant. Several soldiers who were yet to die were sent to their deaths, which was favorable. They couldn’t survive, it would save them from suffering.

Ammunition weapons in the native world could kill spiritual creatures. If possible, Tang Zheng would still like to use these, as buying spiritual bullets from the Trojan List is a bit expensive.

Tang Zheng threw away the rocket launcher and took out another one. He was preparing to execute those creatures one by one, and then he heard Jing Xiang’s shout.

"Tang Zheng, on the left." A demonized monster heard the noise, rushed out from the side and viciously charged towards them.

Jing Xiang used the Gatling gun to fire, but her aim was poor, and the bullets destroyed the surroundings.

Tang Zheng quickly turned, aimed at the demonized monster and with a thud, a rocket fired and directly hit its head. It flew out in violent explosion and a ball of flame lit up.

The three women couldn’t hold their ground. Owing to stationary combat, the military strength for defense seemed to be in shortage. Just as Tang Zheng was preparing to launch guerrilla combat, he suddenly thought that he had yet to use the Mother Empress Crystal Heart obtained from killing the final BOSS Empress in the Mechanical Labyrinth.

It was an SS-Class Item. So, without further ado, he used it, and a mirror clone identical to Tang Zheng in every single detail appeared.

"Suppress the enemy." Tang Zheng immediately threw his Gatling gun to his clone. The clone couldn’t release seeds nor seed abilities, only melee capabilities, but its shooting accuracy was a perfect copy of Tang Zheng’s, so it wasn’t bad at all.

Watching the clone’s firefight with the shadow demon warriors caused Tang Zheng to sigh regretfully. It’s a shame it could only be used for a minute before going on cooldown.

Song Huiqiao was startled by the sudden appearance of the clone, but she was instantly fascinated by Tang Zheng’s power, and her determination to hold onto him grew even stronger.

Three minutes later, the skirmish concluded. As the lady with the musket disappeared, Tang Zheng put away all his weapons and crawled into the driver’s seat.

"Get on quickly." As expected, Jing Xiang did not let Tang Zheng down. She knew how to take care of Little Orange, grabbed her collar and climbed on together.

Tang Zheng slammed his foot on the accelerator, and the car roared away for several hundred meters. Then, with a screech, it stopped next to an infantry armored car.

"Move, get out of the car and collect ammo from the soldiers" bodies." Tang Zheng ran to several military jeeps, put them directly into his Space Wristwatch, and then crawled into the Infantry Armored Car to start it. He was the only one who could drive these things now.

Song Huiqiao, covered in blood, finally accomplished the task, holding her rifle. She crawled into the infantry armored vehicle, and then finally let out a long breath. (Continued.
