Chapter 761: Chapter 24 - The Team Scatters

The bones of the Shadow Hounds were hard. Even after Tang Zheng had broken six samurai swords, he had only managed to kill half of them. In the end, he had to resort to close combat. Fortunately, the Tyrannosaurus Protective Clothing provided enough defense to protect him from the monster’s attack, consuming only a bit of his stamina.

The head of the Shadow Demon Warrior was smashed by the warhammer, its body dissipating into fog. A soul shard dropped. Tang Zheng heaved a sigh of relief, ready to recall his warrior and take care of the remaining hounds. However, the soul shard suddenly exploded, releasing a flood of red mist that condensed into a Shadow Geisha.

The Geisha was cold and aloof, strumming the strings of her shamisen, her crimson lips slightly parted. The mournful melody began to flow through the streets. The three of them felt as if an invisible rope was constricting their hearts, nearly suffocating them.

Distracted for a moment, Tang Zheng was immediately pounced on by a dozen Shadow Hounds, sinking their teeth into his body.

Boom. The warrior, being a spiritual servant himself, had a strong resistance to psychic-type attacks and was not affected by the illusion. He slammed his warhammer into the Geisha’s body, driving her into the ground.

The Geisha tried to repair her damaged body, but her recovery speed was slower than the warrior’s destruction. The warrior unleashed his full power and in just ten seconds, he had completely crushed her into dissipating mist.

Plop. A soul shard fell in the ruins.

"So this is the ’surprise’ that comes with hunting shadows in other people’s hunting zones." Tang Zheng frowned slightly. The situation would have been difficult for Chen Hong and the others to handle, but for him, it posed no threat.

"If only the mission was this simple." Tang Zheng flung out his right arm, smashing the monster biting his arm to pulp. He caught the soul shard thrown by the warrior, watching his servant crush the others.

"What the hell are these things?" The initial shock on Kita-jima Miki’s face faded slightly as the situation became somewhat stable. She shouted loudly, questioning Tang Zheng.

"Monsters." Tang Zheng stripped off his bloodstained sportswear and threw it into a waste bin. He then got into the Police car and prepared to leave.

"How can there be monsters in this world?" The policewoman didn’t believe it, she couldn’t accept this kind of supernatural event.

"Then, what did you see?" Tao Hong’s hands had stopped trembling, the housewife was slowly getting accustomed to the killing.

The policewoman fell silent and restlessly shifted her body. She discovered that her clothes were completely soaked through, awkwardly clinging to her skin. Sweat covered her silk stocking stripped thighs.

"They seem to exist in another physical form unknown to humans." Tang Zheng actually wanted to ask the Silver Trojan about this. However, it would definitely not explain anything, given its unpleasant sense of humor.

As the night gradually faded away and dawn arrived, the delinquents who had been causing chaos in the Ikebukuro district began to quickly retreat. They weren’t stupid, they didn’t dare to openly confront the police. Today, the police would undoubtedly be very busy.

After getting the location of the nearest Ikebukuro police station from Kita-jima Miki, Tang Zheng drove there. He observed it from a distance and then parked the car near a park.

"Do you know where we can get guns? Answer to my satisfaction and I’ll let you go." Tang Zheng got out of the car and untied the silk stockings around the policewoman’s ankles. He had no use for kidnapping her, and leaving her here would be safe enough.

Suddenly, Kita-jima Miki raised her leg and kicked towards Tang Zheng’s face.

Tang Zheng had predicted her defiance. Seeing her foot coming, he reached out and caught it firmly and then with a swift motion, prepared to yank her out of the car.

"I was wrong! I won’t do it again!" Kita-jima Miki screamed. Her police skirt was ruffled around her waist, and she was almost fully exposed. If civilians saw her like this, she would become the laughing stock of the police station.

"Answer the question, or I’ll strip you naked and hang you up. Oh look, there’s an office worker over there." Tang Zheng had already pulled half of Kita-jima Miki’s body out of the car. The police officer tensed up, hanging into the car by her waist strength to keep from falling to the ground.

"Please, I don’t want to be seen by people." The policewoman cried, and then bit the car cushion, fearing that Tang Zheng would pull her down and throw her onto the highway.

"Answer the question." To further scare the policewoman, Tang Zheng suddenly ripped off her police skirt.

"The Self-Defense Force garrison has an armory, while the Police Stations have guns."

The answer from Kita-jima Miki had no value. Tang Zheng helplessly threw her back into the car, then tossed her the key to the handcuffs.

"Don’t go out at night recently. If you encounter a Shadow, it’s certain death." Tang Zheng shut the car door, picked up his bag full of weapons, and left with Tao Hong. After what she had witnessed, he was certain the policewoman would keep her mouth shut. Even if she did speak, she’d be considered crazy.

"That bastard, he scared me. Ah, my police-issued gun." Kita-jima Miki sat up, relieved to see no office workers. She then clenched her teeth in anger, "I’ll definitely bring you to justice."

"Quick, open the door, we’re back." Tao Hong knocked on the anti-theft door of the convenience store, tears streaming down her face. Additionally, the sunrise brought her a feeling of returning from hell to heaven.

"Uncle, how many soul shards did you get?" As soon as Dantai opened the door, Lu Fan lunged into Tang Zheng’s arms, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I prepared breakfast for you; let’s eat together."

Little Orange was holding Li Xinlan’s hand, standing beside her and watching Lu Fan with envy. She also wanted to hug her kind big brother.

"Two." Tang Zheng scanned the listless newbies before looking at Dantai and Ruan Feifei. The conquerors gathered around, keen to get more information as well as checking on Tang Zheng.

Several rocker youths and some newbies were oblivious to the situation. However, a few members of the Student’s Union stood by, waiting for Tang Zheng. Seeing him turn their way, they greeted him with smiles and nods.

"Glad to have you back. Are you okay?" A balding leader--hands clasped behind his back--looked at Tang Zheng with a friendliness betrayed by his wide smile.

"Think before you speak! If he was hurt, none of the survivors would have made it back to this room." Chen Hong gave the bald middle-aged man a cold look, her disdain for the officials evident.

"Didn’t you see? Of the three who went out, Gao Qiang died, and Li Bo got injured. Tao Hong didn’t even get a scratch." The fallen star was still trying to curry favor, pressuring Pang Meiqin. She knew success was often found in persistence.

The bald leader, a man of deep strategies, gave a light laugh but said nothing in response.

"Tang Zheng, you’ve got quite a haul." Li Hongda forced his way through the crowd, patting Tang Zheng on the shoulder in a display of supposed camaraderie.

"Eat while recounting your experiences."

After sharing their experiences, each newbie’s face was heavy and grim. The atmosphere in the convenience store was oppressive and suffocating.

"It’s already nine o’clock. I need to set up defenses in my hunting zone." Ruan Feifei glanced at her wristwatch, keen to not waste time. She grabbed a plastic bag and started packing her food supply for three days.

"Let’s leave too. Waiting more isn’t going to change anything." Dantai also began to take action. Other than Chen Hong, the conquerors were indifferent; they were already used to this.

"Tang Zheng, what do we do?" Jing Xiang and Hongjie stayed close to Tang Zheng, their faces full of anxiety.

"Try every possible way to fight. If you can’t win, run. Survive first, then figure out the next step." With this mission, Tang Zheng felt powerless. He distributed the samurai sword and crossbow he obtained. While they were not very powerful, they were better than nothing.

"Big brother, I’ll definitely try hard. Just you watch." Yao Feng couldn’t sleep a wink since he learned that his hunting zone was next to Pang Meiqin’s. He was eager to show off his abilities.

"We’ll convene at Tobu Hall tomorrow evening before the arrival of the punishment forces." The survival and punishment troops would be split up, which would be advantageous to Tang Zheng, Chu Baichuan, and the strong ones among them. However, it was going to be much riskier for the rest.

The conquerors understood that Tang Zheng was considering their best interests. They nodded in agreement.

"Why Tobu Hall?" Chen Hong frowned. It was Jing Xiang’s territory. Was Tang Zheng partial to virgins?

"Because it’s at the center of all the hunting zones. Can’t you think carefully before opening your mouth?" Ruan Feifei was annoyed by a conqueror of the same period who had such a low IQ.

"Electricity hasn’t been restored yet, and it seems like it will take several days. Everyone, be careful and stock up on food and weapons." Qin Yan reminded everyone, "Let’s try to gather together every two days to share our experiences."

The conquerors nodded. Sharing intelligence was crucial.

The newbies stared blankly as Tang Zheng and the others efficiently got ready. It was only until Dantai Zongqi and Lin Weiguo left that they designated a spokesperson to negotiate with Tang Zheng.

"What do we do?" With her appealing look and social versatility, Song Huiqiao naturally served as the representative.

"Of course, we have to fend for ourselves. We’re all adults in our twenties. Surely we understand at least that much?" Chu Baichuan chimed in, supporting Ai Yixin as they left, "Tang Zheng, see you tomorrow evening."

"Good luck, oh, and take this." Tang Zheng tossed a handgun he had plundered from a Yazaku member to the pregnant housewife. "There are only a dozen bullets left, but it should be useful for intimidation. You guys won’t be hunting together. Be careful."

"No problem, I’ll always be with her." Chu Baichuan was determined not to separate from her.

"Thank you." Ai Yixin felt like she owed Tang Zheng too much already and was unsure how to repay him. Then, she started to scold her husband, "You just mind your business and collect soul shards. I will hide."

Every conqueror had made their own hunting plan. Even the naturally silly Bai Guo was thinking hard, jotting down important points she learned from Li Xinlan and Qin Yan on a post-it note.

"Tang Zheng, I’m leaving." Chen Hong came over to Tang Zheng and suddenly hugged his waist. She tiptoed up and kissed him on the lips, a demonstration of territorial claim to Jing Xiang and Hongjie.

"Stupid, self-important fool. Tang Zheng hates this kind of thing the most." Pang Meiqin sneered coldly and left; Yao Feng waved to Tang Zheng and then hurriedly ran out, chasing after the stewardess with the beautiful legs.

The newbies watched as Chen Hong kissed Tang Zheng, their gaze filled with mixed emotions. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
