Chapter 758 - 21 Shadow Geisha

Chapter 758: Chapter 21 Shadow Geisha

Seeing the same kind of two-headed monsters that had just attacked the supermarket now roaming the streets, a pack of hundred beasts licking their lips and pouncing towards Tang Zheng, Tao Hong was horrified once again. Her legs trembling, she ran a few steps before collapsing to the ground. Her face was filled with fear, but she didn’t dare to cry out, worried that it might attract the monsters.

After a few struggling attempts of crawling, she found refuge behind a trash bin. Tao Hong curled up into a ball and clung to her head, whimpering quietly. She felt as if she was in hell.

These two-headed monsters lived in the shadows as Shadow Hounds. They were kept and bred by the Shadow creatures, always following their masters, protecting them from harm.

"There seem to be too many of them." With only a dozen or so bullets left, Tang Zheng didn’t want to waste them. He reached to his back, pulling the chopper tied to his waist. Wielding the cold weapon in both hands, he charged towards the Shadow Hounds.

Just four meters away, the two leading Hounds lunged out like crossbow arrows. They opened their jaws wide, aiming for Tang Zheng’s head.

Whoosh, Tang Zheng swung his knife. The blade gleamed in the dim moonlight, creating a metallic sound as it sliced through the air and traced a silver trajectory across the sky. It fell onto the head of the Shadow Hound, split it into two, and internal organs and blood sprayed over half the street. An unbearable stench rapidly filled the air.

Tang Zheng didn’t dodge. He swung his left-hand knife at the second Shadow Hound. The severed head flew into the air while the headless corpse tumbled to the ground. Blood spurted from the Hound’s neck wound.

The next moment, Tang Zheng was engulfed by a pack of Shadow Hounds. The street was filled with the low growls of the Hounds. Soon after, sounds of wailing and blades tearing through flesh echoed through the street.

Tang Zheng’s advance was slightly stalled. His twin blades danced like tornados, slicing every Shadow Hound that bumped into him in half and tossing them onto the ground.

Behind Tang Zheng was a bloody carpet of carcasses. Several of the Shadow Hounds wriggled grotesquely, not quite dead yet.

After charging less than five meters, Tang Zheng had already killed more than twenty Shadow Hounds. Then with a crash, the crude chopper he was wielding shattered.

With a lunge, Tang Zheng rammed the broken blade into a hound’s body. He swung both his hands like metal whip, using his full strength to smash the hound’s skull. The sound of bones breaking echoed in the street, and the corpse was flung away.

Like a siege hammer, Tang Zheng crushed everything in his path, forcing all the Shadow Hounds to retreat.

Tao Hong couldn’t see any monsters catching up. Gathering her courage, she dared to peek and saw Tang Zheng running amok, having already killed more than fifty Shadow Hounds. She was shocked speechless; even a hundred dogs could kill a few dozen people. Not to mention that these Shadow Hounds were evidently more ferocious than cheetahs.

"Hurry up, warrior, suppress the enemy and end the fight." Tang Zheng’s sportswear was soaked with blood. It was smelly and disgustingly wet. Since his Space Wristwatch couldn’t be used, he had no way to change clothes. As for these monsters, to the Conquerors, they were not particularly useful. They only served as a distraction.

After battling for nearly a minute, the Shadow Demon Warrior’s long-handled glaive was knocked away. The demon warrior drew a two-meter-long field sword to battle against the ancient warrior. Sparks flew and metallic noises rang out as their blades clashed against the armor.

The two monstrous figures crashed together fiercely. The battlefield was exceptionally grand. Half the street was affected, buildings collapsed, rubble flew everywhere.

With a thundering sound, the ancient warrior swung his warhammer. He struck the Shadow Demon Warrior and sent it crashing through a store on the side of the street, smashing a wall and a row of shelves.

The ancient warrior followed up, hammering down on the enemy before it could get up. He killed the Shadow Demon Warrior straight away. Just before its death, the Shadow Demon Warrior stabbed his heart with its field sword. Unfortunately, this vital attack was no setback for the ancient warrior. Unless it suffered a lethal blow or its summoning time was up, it wouldn’t disappear.

A minute and thirty seconds later, the Shadow Demon Warrior died. It shattered into black mist, floating away into the air, leaving behind only a rhombus-shaped crystal the size of a walnut.

"Is this a soul shard?" Tang Zheng stepped back from the battle circle, commanding his warrior to kill the remaining Shadow Hounds.

Seeing the situation under control, Tao Hong stood up nervously, her eyes lingering on the soul shard in Tang Zheng’s hand with envy.

"It’s too difficult. We definitely can’t complete the mission." Tao Hong’s expression was bleak. She argued that not to mention the Shadow creature itself, the Newbies weren’t capable of dealing with just its minions.

"There will be a way." Tang Zheng put away the soul shard and left with Tao Hong. The Shadow creature had died fairly clean, leaving no weapons or seeds behind.

At the same time, Ruan Fei Fei and Gao Qiang encountered a Shadow creature as well, another Japanese military officer.

"This, this is a Shadow creature?" Gao Qiang stared at a martial officer clad in full armor under heavy plating. His legs turned to jelly, particularly at the sight of the sharp glaive. Despite being several meters away, he felt a cold chill from the blade.

"Run, run!" Gao Qiang yelled before turning to run. He sprinted like a hunted rabbit, deciding that his life was more important than the disdain of a beauty.

Ruan Fei Fei ignored him. With a cold glare, she released electricity. A thick bolt of lightning slashed through the main street, striking the Shadow creature.

The Shadow creature removed its iron cannon and aimed towards Gao Qiang. It would not allow any prey to escape.

A gunshot rang out as hundreds of bullets whistled out, hitting Gao Qiang’s lower body. The impact utterly shattered it, turning it into a sieve.

With a scream, Gao Qiang fell to the ground, blood flowing out from the holes on his body. Nothing he could do could stop it. His face was covered in tears from the pain.

"Save me!" Gao Qiang scraped at the ground, and after crying out, died with a face full of regret.

Ruan Feifei didn’t even glance at the newbie. Taking advantage of his distraction, she immediately unleashed her full firepower, blasting the Shadow Demon with electricity.

One after another, blue electric arcs shot out, striking the Shadow Demon’s head. After two minutes, Ruan Feifei finally blasted it apart.

The Shadow Demon Warrior turned into a mist, leaving behind nothing but a blade.

"Why are there no soul shards?" Ruan Feifei was angry. Countless small fish-like static electricity moved in her black hair, crackling.

"Could it be because Gao Qiang died? Therefore, there are no soul shards dropping?" Ruan Feifei furrowed her brows, recalling Silver Trojan’s words, "Hunting Shadow Monsters in someone else’s Hunting Zone might bring unexpected surprises. It’s not referring to this, is it?"

Ruan Feifei ignored Gao Qiang’s corpse, rechecked to make sure she didn’t leave anything behind, and then left.

Dantai Zongqi and Li Bo also encountered a Shadow Demon at two in the morning, but it wasn’t a Japanese military officer, it was another type of monster.

A woman in her twenties, beautiful and gentle, holding a shamisen, wearing a gorgeously red kimono, walking on the streets at midnight in wooden clogs. The clack-clack sound was horrifying.

"Is it a ghost?" Even a person as fearless as Li Bo, who wouldn’t blink at killing, sucked in a breath at the sight of the heavily white powdered face and vermilion lips of the geisha.

The geisha strummed the strings of her shamisen, a melancholy music started to flow in the air. Li Bo’s heart suddenly jumped, as if a noose was fastening around it, suffocating him.

Fortunately, Dantai was resilient due to his psychic abilities. He quickly retreated, leaving Li Bo on the spot. The special agent didn’t rush in to attack; he wanted to observe the opponent’s attack methods while collecting information comprehensively.

Dozens of geishas materialized from thin air. They had smiles at the corners of their mouths and walked elegantly.

Li Bo, showing a foolish grin, barged into their midst, grabbing and tugging at a belt. With a tug, the geisha spun, her kimono flaring out like petals, revealing a naked woman.

Laughter echoed through the streets, the exposed skin making men feel as if they’d entered paradise.

Whenever Li Bo touched a geisha, a flicker of black mist would float from their bodies and drift into Li Bo’s skin. Then black spots would appear, visibly rotting.

"We can’t wait any longer, Mental Impact." Dantai might consider Li Bo to be trash, but he couldn’t let him die. Dantai activated his ability, transforming Psychic Storm into sharp blades sweeping over the entire street. When it crossed those geishas, it shredded them to pieces.

"Good, at least it didn’t fail." Dantai heaved a sigh of relief. If it had been ineffective, he would have been frustrated to death.

Upon being attacked, the Shadow Geisha’s face contorted. The strings of the shamisen vibrated faster, and she let out a sharp, ghastly scream.

Wave after wave of sound rushed over, slamming into their eardrums. Li Bo had just awoken from his daze when he was struck again, completely knocking him out.

Dantai also started to experience a ringing in his ears, but he held on, charging towards the Shadow Demon.

The ground squirmed, and a Transport Swamp appeared, releasing hundreds of Shadow Hounds. The Shadow Geisha was a long-distance monster that needed protection.

"Die." Dantai released another Mental Impact. When the hounds charged, it was as if they had run straight into an invisible wall, causing them to collapse in unison.

Dantai ran past them, drew his chopper, and pounced at the geisha, slashing at her head.

The geisha screamed; her split head floated and started to regenerate. However, Dantai immediately released a Psychic Storm, ceaselessly bombarding the geisha and shredding her to pieces.

Thirty seconds later, the Shadow Geisha turned into black mist and disappeared into the air, leaving behind a soul shard with a clatter.

"This game is too hard for newbies." Dantai looked at the unconscious Li Bo and felt sorry for the newbies. Probably due to too many Conquerors surviving, the Silver Trojan had raised the difficulty, not giving the newbies any chance to adapt or familiarize themselves. Even if veteran players like Sister Red and Jing Xiang activated their Seed Abilities, dealing with such monsters would still be a struggle.

"Is this a dead end? These newbies really came at a bad time." Dantai threw Li Bo over his shoulder and moved two steps, then suddenly felt that there might be a solution. What if there were weaker Shadow Monsters? "Perhaps the Trojan’s intention is for the newbies to flee when meeting a strong foe and to fight when encountering a weak one? Could that be the purpose of dividing the Hunting Zones? It seems Tang Zheng will face the strongest Shadow Demon."

Tang Zheng wanted to collect soul shards as early as possible to activate the usage rights of the Space Wristwatch. Thinking that walking was too slow, he ’borrowed’ a bicycle in front of a supermarket, patrolling the streets with Tao Hong.

For half the night, they didn’t encounter any Shadow Demons, but they did bump into a policewoman. (To be continued. If you like this work, please go to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote, give monthly votes, and support. Your support is my biggest motivation.)
