Chapter 757: Chapter 20: Shadow Demon Warrior

Li Bo’s fierceness was ingrained in his bones. The moment he came face to face with the lead Japanese youth, he slashed at his head with his chopper.

The young man was startled. He had not expected Li Bo to go for the kill right off the bat, and with no hesitation, either. Before he could swing his baseball bat, his face tingled in pain. Amid flying blood, his right cheek had a two-inch gash and his nose was nearly sliced off.

Thump, Li Bo booted him in the stomach, knocking him flat.

The Japanese thugs who were just excitedly shouting about dealing with Tang Zheng’s group were completely subdued. The scene suddenly fell quiet, leaving only the agonizing screams of the young man on the ground.

Li Bo sneered, showing no signs of stopping as he lunged at them. His indiscriminate chopping forced the Japanese youth into a panicked retreat. They didn’t dare attempt to bust open the supermarket door again.

A woman wearing hot pants and a halter top fell onto the highway. She rose to her feet, not bothering to put on her sandals, running barefoot. However, she was a split second too slow. Li Bo caught up with her and grabbed her hair.

With a rip, Li Bo clutched the collar of the woman’s top, tearing it off. A pair of not-so-full breasts encased in underwear jumped out.

"Let go of me," the woman struggled, crying out and flailing her arms. Unfortunately, she was no match for Li Bo. After he had slapped her twice, he ripped off her bra.

Her breasts jiggled, tracing irregular paths in the moonlight.

The faces of Tang Zheng and Dantai grew cold, while Gao Qiang appeared slightly envious. However, that was all. He would never do such a thing.

"Enough, let her go." Before Tang Zheng could stop him, Ruan Feifei had had enough. She lifted her hand and a bolt of lightning struck the ground in front of Li Bo.

Li Bo stopped and looked at her, "She’s just a Japanese woman, aren’t you being overly concerned?"

"I said let her go. Are you deaf?" The voice of Ruan Feifei went cold. An electric arc flashed at her fingertip, ready to teach Li Bo a lesson. This guy was nothing more than a lawless scoundrel.

"If you need to vent your frustrations, go to an adult store," Tang Zheng raised his brows. Li Bo was a great fighter, but his character was disgusting. He wouldn’t allow such a man to remain in the team. It was detrimental to the team’s morale.

"Alright, she’s not attractive anyway. I wouldn’t even look at her twice," Li Bo pushed the Japanese woman away, casually rested the chopper on his shoulder, and surveyed his surroundings. "Where are those demonic shadows? I haven’t seen a single one yet. Are we just going to wander around all night?"

Those words were nothing more than an excuse. Li Bo had noted the excessive sense of justice in Tang Zheng’s group. He desired to act independently, doing as he pleased. These timid Japanese people seemed no different from sheep to him. If he didn’t take advantage of the blackout to vent his frustrations, it would be a huge loss.

"We’re wasting time. Let’s split up," said Ruan Feifei, emboldened by her high skill level and inflated self-confidence.

"No!" Tao Hong shouted out in fear. Gao Qiang was evidently not in favor either.

"Indeed, it is a waste of time. Let’s split into pairs for back up," Dantai checked his radar. This area was the hunting zone of three newbies.

Tao Hong was on the verge of tears, her eyes flushed red. She wanted to be in the same group as Ruan Feifei for safety, but the latter seemed indifferent and didn’t seem to care about her. Tang Zheng was a kind person, but his male form was a source of concern. As for Dantai, Tao Hong hadn’t even considered him.

Gao Qiang wanted to be with the beautiful hostess, hoping for a romantic encounter, but he was too shy to speak up.

"I’ll go with you," Li Bo suggested, moving to stand by Dantai’s side. To him, this man posed the least threat, plus he didn’t seem to have a strong sense of justice. A few provocative words should be enough to inspire him to join in the mayhem.

After some hesitation, Tao Hong finally leaned closer to Tao Hong.

"Tang Zheng, I won’t take this incompetent. Gao Qiang, you’re with me." After Ruan Feifei spoke, she turned around and walked away. Gao Qiang was ecstatic, his mouth splitting into a wide grin as he hurried to follow. He even stole a glance at the hostess’s round buttocks.

Being publicly ridiculed and humiliated, Tao Hong began to weep.

Ruan Feifei took out her radar and determined Gao Qiang’s hunting zone. This repugnant man was nothing more than cannon fodder. If he died, so be it. She would not lift a finger to save him. But, if the same fate were to befall Tao Hong, the fact that they were both women would make her feel some guilt.

"Gao Qiang is in for some trouble," Tang Zheng sighed, guessing Gao Qiang’s fate based on Ruan Feifei’s behaviour. However, he would not interfere. The female hostess was a valuable member of the team after all.

"Just a generic newbie, devoid of any special skills. No big loss if he dies," Dantai, a former special agent, had received rigorous training and had a utilitarian streak in him, hence the detached tone.

Tao Hong was stunned, shaking uncontrollably. She suppressed her sobs, starting to fear Tang Zheng and worry about her future.

"You’re right, the useless ones might as well die. They’re just burdens," Li Bo retorted confidently, licking his chopper. "Let’s go, let’s hurry up and kill these demonic shadows."

"Good luck." Dantai left.

The warm night wind blew past, the surrounding streets were dim, only a faint moonlight spilled, looking at the blurred contours of Tang Zheng’s face, Tao Hong instinctively took a step back. She couldn’t trust a man she had just met and who she had barely spoken three words to.

"Don’t cry, let’s go, you just need to take care of yourself, don’t worry about anything else." Tang Zheng also didn’t make any intimate gestures, afraid of causing a misunderstanding.

Tao Hong’s hunting zone was near Ni-chome, a fifteen-minute walk away. Along the way, it wasn’t silent. As time passed, those rebellious, self-expressive young people began to hit the streets in groups of three to five, venting their madness on the Tokyo streets during the major blackout and enjoying fleeting moments of freedom.

All the police had been mobilized to maintain order, but Tang Zheng was quite unlucky, not bumping into a single one. Instead, he bumped into quite a few young people. But those fellows, seeing the bloody chopper in Tang Zheng’s hand, wisely gave way.

Gradually, Tao Hong’s emotions stabilized and she began to feel a sense of security from Tang Zheng. In this foreign land, apart from the compatriot in front of her, she indeed had nothing to rely on.

"Hold the chopper, in case of danger, don’t panic or think about fighting, try to run away." When Tao Hong calmed down, Tang Zheng could finally teach her some life-saving techniques. Besides genuinely caring for her, good guy Tang also didn’t want to lose the group leader’s reputation because of her death. At least she can’t die tonight.

Tao Hong was breathing heavily, feeling the chopper in her hand weigh a thousand pounds. Just a few hours ago, she was a typical housewife who had only ever killed a chicken.

Upon reaching Ni-chome and almost having walked the entirety of the hunting zone, two radar alarms beeped simultaneously in the dark night, piercing the silence.

A red triangle suddenly appeared on the radar screen, blinking and slowly moving.

"Quick, let’s go." Tang Zheng shouted, starting to run. He didn’t want to miss the first prey of the night.

"Wait for me." Tao Hong started crying again. She was afraid to face the monster but also afraid of being left behind.

"Hurry up, or I won’t be able to protect you." Tang Zheng pulled out his handgun. After sprinting for two hundred meters and turning onto another street, he saw his first Demonic Shadow since being transported to Japan.

In the middle of the open Long Street stood a three-meter tall ancient Japanese military officer. He was bulky and covered in magnificent black armor, reminiscent of the Kamakura period, those hundred-pound heavy armors. So when he turned to stare at Tang Zheng, his footsteps seemed to cause a slight tremor in the space around them.

The Japanese military officer’s face was wrapped in a ferocious mask. His eyes glowed with a red light, and the shovel-shaped decoration on his helmet stood tall, glinting with a golden lustre.

The military officer seemed to be alive. With each breath, he exhaled a white frosty mist. He was also armed to the teeth. At his waist was a two-meter-long field sword and a Gladius, its brutal and domineering curve emanated a scent of murder. On his back were five bronze-colored iron cannons, and he held a glaive over five meters long, dripping with a sticky red liquid.

Upon seeing Tang Zheng, the Shadow Demon Warrior immediately charged. The rumbling footsteps echoed through Long Street like a heavy tank crushing everything in its path.

Tang Zheng was not panicked at all. He calmly raised his arm, pulled the trigger, and fired. The bullet hit the Shadow Demon Warrior’s forehead but was deflected, causing no damage.

"Warrior, come out." Tang Zheng stopped wasting ammunition and summoned the Warrior. Full firepower. He had no intention of foolishly engaging the Shadow Demon Warrior in a close fight without a proper weapon.

Enveloped in a light red nebulous mist, the Warrior, also dressed in heavy armor and wielding a warhammer, appeared on the street and started to rush forward.

The distance between the two was a hundred meters. The Shadow Demon Warrior quickly grabbed an iron cannon, aimed at Tang Zheng, and pulled the trigger.

With a thunderous burst, a flame erupted from the gun muzzle which was as thick as an adult’s arm. Hundreds of bullets were fired at Tang Zheng.

Tang Zheng dodged. The bullets hit the ground and exploded, splattering stone fragments.

The Shadow Demon Warrior retrieved the empty cannon, picked up a second one, and fired again at Tang Zheng. After he dodged, the shot hit a wall, causing it to collapse.

When the distance between them was only thirty meters, the Warrior threw his warhammer. The trailing iron chain made a whistling sound and shot out, immediately straightening due to inertia.

With a swing of the the glaive in his single arm, the Shadow Demon Warrior knocked over the warhammer, simultaneously aiming the third iron cannon at Tang Zheng with his other hand.

The panting Tao Hong ran into Long Street, saw two spectral warriors resembling death gods in battle and froze immediately, her face turning pale. She subconsciously looked for Tang Zheng and heard the thunderous gunfire. A cluster of bullets blasted dozens of holes in the ground next to him.

"Get out of the way." Tang Zheng urged Tao Hong, his heart sinking. If all the shadows were at this level, then no newbie would be able to kill them, obtain soul shards, because they were not in the same league at all.

BOOM! The two warriors collided, their weapons clashing, drawing a shower of sparks.

Just as Tang Zheng thought he could take a breather, wait for them to decide a victor, the ground began to morph and decay. A teleportation swamp appeared, and multiple two-headed Shadow Demon Followers emerged, growling and throwing themselves at him. (To be continued.
