Infinite Ebullience -
Chapter 710 - 52: Dominance
Chapter 710: Chapter 52: Dominance
The Rebellion had sent out a battalion of a thousand men, reflecting their high regard for the four targeted individuals. Despite having already communicated via walkie-talkie, the surviving armored car fleet was still stopped for a check by the commanding officer, a lieutenant colonel, to confirm the presence of the correct personnel before allowing them to move on.
"Officer, we should make haste. The Queen’s clone is right behind us." The native captain, having survived thus far, jumped out of the carriage and shouted at the lieutenant colonally with urgency etched across his face.
His words immediately caused a hum of concern. After all, the Queen’s clone, with its unmatched battle power, could almost wipe out their force of a thousand armed soldiers.
"Silence." The methodical lieutenant colonel disliked the commotion. After shouting out an order for quiet, he turned his attention to Tang Zheng and his team, questioning the captain, "What is their story? Are they civilians or spies? Have you investigated thoroughly?"
"An inflexible relic." Lu Fan rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath. For someone to ask such a question during a flight, he was just wasting time.
"Reporting to the officer, due to lack of time, they haven’t been investigated, but there are certainly no issues. They’ve killed many mechanical soldiers."
The native captain seemed too agitated for the lieutenant colonel, who gave him a look of disgust. "What’s the use if a thousand mechanical soldiers are killed? The Queen can make more, but if a spy infiltrates the base, the resulting damage would be unbearable. We must be cautious."
"I can’t stand it; let’s just kill him," said Chu Baichuan, annoyed by the lieutenant colonel’s rigid attitude, as he wished nothing more than to shoot him.
"Don’t be impulsive." Dantai restrained him by holding his arm. This guy was not a captain-level threat. They could kill one or two, but if they killed this lieutenant colonel, they should expect to fight the Resistance to the death.
"Tang Zheng is Tang Lu’s brother. We are his friends," said Chen Hong her eagerness to contribute leading her to chime in. The lieutenant colonel’s expression changed instantly as he raised his hand, and the soldiers behind him immediately aimed their rifles at Chen Hong’s team.
Confused about where she had gone wrong, Chen Hong stared at the threatening muzzles, nearly wetting herself in fear.
"Idiot. If they wanted to find Tang Lu, they would have certainly investigated his family relations. Claiming to be a relative only raises more suspicions." Lu Fan wanted to kick Chen Hong for her ill-considered actions.
"I don’t care who you are. From this point forth, get lost." After finishing his shout, the lieutenant colonel waved his hand, signifying his soldiers to bring Tang Lu over. He then turned and prepared to get into the car.
The native captain broke out in cold sweat upon seeing this. As he extended his hand to hold the lieutenant colonel back, he inwardly thought: If you want to die, don’t drag us down. Thinking of the formidable fighting power of these so-called civilians, the captain felt a strong urge to die. Couldn’t the commander have sent someone else instead of this obstinate fool?
Tang Zheng frowned, ready to hijack the lieutenant colonel and forcefully take over the entire fleet, but Tang Lu held onto his arm and said in a clear voice, "He is my brother."
"Officer, it’s true." Seeing the members of the Trojan Squad ready to fight back against the weapons aimed at them, the native captain quickly pleaded with the lieutenant colonel to withdraw his order.
"Officer, Tang Zheng alone can wipe out the Phantom Virus, the Love Bug Virus, and even suppress the Queen’s clone to the point where it can’t retaliate. The other two are also outstanding soldiers." The captain then shared Tang Zheng’s achievements in battle. The situation was desperate; he had to do something or they were all doomed.
The soldiers nearby took in a sharp breath and, with incredulity in their eyes, they looked at this group of civilians before scoffing derisively.
"Are you joking? A pregnant woman, a child, a woman with a severed arm, you call this a combat team?" The second-in-command standing behind the lieutenant colonel jeered, his face full of disbelief. "If you are really capable, show me what you can do."
"It’s the truth. A mechanical squid, which would take a five-man team to defeat, didn’t even last ten seconds in front of them." The captain, never having felt so helpless before, looked to Tang Zheng for help, hoping that he would refrain from fighting since, if he didn’t, there would be no turning back.
"I don’t have time to argue with you. Let’s get the fleet moving." Tang Zheng waved his hand and pointed at the lieutenant colonel’s command car. "It’s been requisitioned."
"What did you say?" The second-in-command couldn’t help but laugh. He was about to order his soldiers to deal with them when, suddenly, he felt the cold metal of a gun pressing against his jaw. Startled, he turned slightly and saw that the lieutenant colonel’s head was also being threatened by a gun.
Bai Guo appeared out of thin air, holding two guns and taking them as hostages.
The soldiers were stunned by this miraculous turn of events. They quickly adjusted and pointed their guns back.
"Let me go right now, or you’ll regret it." The lieutenant colonel had never been treated this way before; it made him so angry that his face turned beet red.
Walking up to the lieutenant colonel, Tang Zheng landed a scathing slap across the officer’s face, cutting off the rest of his threat.
"When I see the commander, I’ll report your rigid and incompetent ways." After shouting this out loud, Tang Zheng turned to the soldiers, "If you don’t want to die, start moving. The Queen has dispatched her elite soldiers to hunt them down."
The native captain, noticing Tang Zheng casting a glance his way, quickly grasped the severity of the situation and urged the soldiers to get moving. The looming threat of death made the soldiers hesitate.
"We can’t run away, let’s return to the base and let commander deal with this!" Tang Zheng’s words reassured everyone, the soldiers subconsciously reasoned that if he wasn’t running, then everything must be above board.
Pang Meiqin was quick on the uptake. Without waiting for Tang Zheng to give the order, she walked directly to the command vehicle, opened the door, and yanked out the driver.
This was the Lieutenant Colonel’s command vehicle, not only capable of carrying many passengers, but also boasting thick armor.
As a captive, the Lieutenant Colonel was thrown into the carriage. With the prompting of the squad leaders, the soldiers began to speed up their preparations. If at all possible, they did not want to engage in battle with the alien queen’s clone in such an open field without any fortification. That would be tantamount to begging for death.
With the thudding start of the engines in over one hundred tanks and armored vehicles, the open field suddenly became noisy. Black smoke billowed from the exhaust pipes into the sky, assaulting everyone’s nostrils.
"There’s no room for you here, move aside." Seeing that the lieutenant colonel was about to sit down, Chen Hong grabbed him by the arm and shoved him into a corner. She actually wanted to kick the man, but she didn’t dare to do it.
"You will regret this." Humiliated, the Lieutenant Colonel roared, wishing he could just shoot them right then and there.
"Chen Hong, make him shut up." Tang Zheng was growing annoyed. Not bothering to engage in idle chit-chat with the man any longer, he picked up his telescope and climbed onto the roof of the vehicle to observe the distance.
The horizon was dead silent, with no sign of the alien queen’s clone, nor could any enemy aircraft be seen in the sky.
"Alright." Getting Tang Zheng’s orders, Chen Hong plucked up her courage and placed a foot on the Lieutenant Colonel’s face, leaving him speechless.
"Damn, I really did it, I kicked the face of a Lieutenant Colonel who commands one thousand soldiers." Looking at the stern Lieutenant Colonel bleeding from his nose, Chen Hong was thrilled, sweat beading on her brow—the feeling of delivering a beating to a Lieutenant Colonel was mighty satisfying.
"You deal with the mechanical soldiers and protect these people." Zhuo Lie had considered using Zhou Xiong and others as bait while he escaped with Zi Xin and the target, but their abilities were too weak. They would definitely not be able to hold off the alien queen’s clone. In contrast, they would be better used to pin down and kill the mechanical soldiers.
Old Zhou and Yi Ting faithfully followed Zhuo Lie’s plan, but Zhou Xiong tried to conserve strength again, intending to seize the opportunity to escape later.
Zhuo Lie intentionally lured the alien queen’s clone toward Zhou Xiong’s side. As soon as he was at the right distance, he grabbed it and flung it toward Zhou Xiong.
Zhou Xiong hesitated for a moment, unwilling to use his Blink Card. He backed away quickly in an attempt to avoid becoming entangled with the alien queen’s clone.
"Trash." Yi Ting spat out a swear. If it wasn’t for the thousand point limit, she would’ve killed this sneaky piece of trash.
The alien queen’s clone would indiscriminately attack any enemy. Although Zhou Xiong retreated, he was still the closest to it. The clone immediately swung its arm and discharged an energy blade from its plasma tentacles, targeting Zhou Xiong with a flurry of red lasers, intending to tear him apart.
Zhou Xiong cursed as he dodged, setting his ability into motion with the aim of escaping at full speed. Suddenly, Zhuo Lie pulled out his S-level strong particle handgun, aimed at Zhou Xiong’s thigh, and fired two shots.
Although Zhou Xiong’s Unicorn Protective Clothing was enhanced, it still couldn’t withstand the handgun’s attack. His thigh was grazed, removing a chunk of flesh and muscle and causing blood to pour out.
"That’s brutal." Zhou Xiong sucked in a breath of cold air. His movement was affected, with Zhuo Lie clearly intending to use him to drain the alien queen’s clone.
"Let’s go!" Zhuo Lie gave him a cold glance, showing no remorse, before deploying his Bumblebee war chariot from his wristwatch. He grabbed the target’s and Zi Xin’s arms and hopped on. Without any delay, Yi Ting and Old Zhou jumped onto the vehicle as well and disappeared into the vehicle’s cabin.
The Bumblebee was a Level A amphibious vehicle that took the shape of a steel drill bit. Coated in thick, black armor and equipped with four rows of belt wheels, it was capable of traveling on any terrain.
"Don’t leave me behind." This time, Zhou Xiong was truly frightened and ran toward Zhuo Lie immediately. The momentary distraction allowed the alien queen’s clone to seize the opportunity. It shot two tentacles that bit into Zhou Xiong’s scalp and eye socket. Instantly, the tentacles fired off two lasers that penetrated his unprotected head. Subsequently, the tentacles exploded, completely shattering his skull with the headless corpse collapsing on the ground.
"Throwaway." Watching as the alien queen’s clone charged towards him, Zhuo Lie cursed under his breath. He jumped off the Bumblebee and engaged it in combat. Thankfully, all the mechanical soldiers had been wiped out, so he was able to focus on the battle at hand.
"It will unleash its blades in three seconds." The boy who was called Zi Xin remained on the Bumblebee, observing the alien queen’s clones, and sharing his predictions. After activating his Seed Ability, it turned out to be prophetic in nature.
Three minutes later, Zhuo Lie, having entered his second-stage Seed Burst, took down the alien queen’s clone with the help of Zi Xin’s predictions, and obtained two Golden Seeds. However, he also suffered heavy injuries, with half his ribs broken, a heavy gash in his waist, and even one of his kidneys damaged. His combat ability had decreased by thirty percent.
"When I run into Tang Zheng, I’ll make him pay." Zhuo Lie sneered maliciously, started up the Bumblebee, and headed towards the resistance base, as guided by the map.
