Chapter 673: Chapter 20 Beat the Newbie
The mechanical soldiers, dressed in urban camouflage and draped in a grey trench coat, fully armed, each holding an electromagnetic rifle, jumped off the military vehicles. They sought cover while firing at Tang Zheng.
These rifles, utilizing electromagnetic energy, had no recoil and a high initial speed, making the trajectory more accurate. Their power couldn’t match the Thunderstorm and Magnetic Storm Rifles, but they could easily outperform ordinary firearms.
Amid the buzzing shoots of bullets, countless armor-piercing high-explosive rounds tore through the air towards Tang Zheng, suppressing him with a barrage. On the military vehicles, several three-barreled Gatling electromagnetic machine guns roared, spewing bullets. Due to the intensity, for a moment, the entire sky seemed swarming with dense locusts.
Tang Zheng didn’t wish to take it head-on. He activated his thrusters and began maneuvering in the sky. The looming locust swarm was chasing him persistently.
With the Mechanical Lion Roar Cannon equipped on his right arm, Tang Zheng fired. The city-shattering light beam formed by positive electrons was like a military knife, carving a trench on the ground. The mechanical soldiers and the police blocking the way were all melted by the high temperature, with explosions resounding continuously.
Utilizing Hellfire’s potent maneuverability, Tang Zheng performed irregular maneuvers in the sky, as agile as an eagle. Each Impact Beam bombardment left a charred hole on the ground. The military vehicles and heavy artillery batteries became the prime targets. Within ten seconds, all were destroyed.
Boom, boom, the tanks located three hundred meters away had locked onto Tang Zheng and fired. The tank shook as the cannon shells fledged, the still-burning white smoke from the cannon bore forming a white ring in the air.
Tang Zheng dodged, cannons exploded near him. Unfortunately, the shock wave no longer posed a threat to Hellfire, but soon afterward, numerous wrist-thick anti-air rocket shells fired from the bullet nests in a spread-pattern at Tang Zheng, and even the turret’s machine guns started shooting.
"Is this the standard of Future City’s war chariots?" Tang Zheng dodged easily. Their firepower could not harm him, and he even regarded their defense as laughable.
The tanks deployed an electromagnetic interference cloud, but Tang Zheng did not bother to use a radar scan. He simply used the Impact Beam to bombard the ground. At such a close range, the naked eye was more than enough.
The mechanical soldiers fought back desperately, but in vain. Within thirty seconds, Tang Zheng toppled an entire area. He landed, picked up more than a dozen undamaged electromagnetic rifles, and grabbed two large ammunition boxes. Tang Zheng then set off to pursue the Floating Bus. After all, he had destroyed all the mechanical police’s mobile vehicles. They could not catch up on foot.
"Being airborne is great!" If he had been fighting on the ground, it would have been more troublesome. With thrusters at full speed, Tang Zheng went supersonic, leaving behind a trail of booming noises. Three minutes later, he caught up with Pang Meiqin.
Without stopping the Floating Bus, Tang Zheng flew parallel to it, knocked on its edge, and Pang Meiqin understood the signal and opened the door.
Tang Zheng stepped inside. After dropping the weapons on the floor, the Hellfire armor on his body began to retract like shedding shells, layer upon layer, until it finally shrunk back into his wristwatch.
"Boss, that was so cool!" The second-year teenager threw himself at him, his eyes full of stars of admiration, "How can I become Iron Man?"
"Work hard to earn points. Everything can be bought." Tang Zheng glanced at Tang Lu. After confirming there was no problem, he sat on the seat. "Newbie, come and choose a gun."
"Boss, I will definitely perform well." The second-year teenager squatted on the ground, picking and choosing. Then he looked up at Tang Zheng and asked, "Can I take two?"
"Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Aren’t you going to run for your life?" Although the junior had poor quality, he was obedient. Tang Zheng didn’t mind looking after him, but unfortunately, had no safe opportunities to use the Seed right now.
"I’ll do whatever the Boss says!" The teenager’s face and the corners of his mouth were still swollen from being bullied repeatedly, but he didn’t mind, instead he pressed against the window, admiring the cityscape.
"Come here. I’ll teach you to use a gun!" Tang Zheng had just finished speaking when he heard a loud complaint from Gao Xin from the back of the carriage. Turning his head, he saw a young woman slapped Yu Wei in the face.
"How dare you hit me?" Yu Wei was furious. Without any hesitation, he counterattacked and slapped Gao Xin.
The newbies watched indifferently, nothing compelled them to help. At such a time, everyone was looking out for themselves and had no room to care about such conflicts.
This silence fueled Yu Wei’s arrogance, making him feel like he had been embarrassed. He grew even angrier as he continued to curse viciously, climbing on Gao Xin. He grabbed her hair with one hand, pulled her up and started to slap her repeatedly with the other.
"Disgusting, this guy is not a gentleman at all." The second-year teenager commented, immediately breaking into a sneaky laugh, "I told everyone he planned to abandon his girlfriend and escape alone, hehe, they are definitely arguing now."
"Please, help her?" Bai Guo couldn’t stand to watch but, after all, she wasn’t good at resolving conflicts. She looked towards Qin Yan and Li Xinlan, imploring.
"Yu Wei, you really let me down." Gao Xin didn’t finish her sentence, before getting slapped back into the mouth.
"What disappointment? Bitch, if it wasn’t for you, would I have died? Would I have been in this game? Would I have been bullied? It’s all your fault." Yu Wei became more and more furious, he showed no mercy on Gao Xin.
Just as Tang Zheng was about to get up and intervene, Yu Manli, who had picked up the electromagnetic rifle, had taken upon herself these annoying matters. She walked over to Yu Wei and smashed the butt of her rifle onto his head. She was not at all gentle and blood immediately gushed out.
"Looking for death, are you?" Yu Wei, having been hit by a woman, completely set off his violent tendencies, and looked at Yu Manli with a hideous face and charged over.
Yu Manli calmly lifted the muzzle of the gun, aiming at Yu Wei’s head. He immediately stopped, about to spew out a few oaths when Yu Manli waved the body of the gun and smashed it down on his head again, once more opening up a gash on his head.
"Kneel down!" Yu Manli sidestepped and kicked him at the crook of his leg. Yu Wei plopped down onto the floor face-first. Because he was not prepared for this, his whole face smacked hard against the floor, his lips split, his nose bleeding heavily. For a while, he was in a sorry state.
"Good beating! Beat this loser to death!" cheered the teenage boy. After being glanced at by Yu Manli, he obediently shut his mouth.
"Tang Zheng, how do you want to handle this?" Yu Manli didn’t take the initiative to make decisions; she wasn’t afraid of offending anyone. Having already hit the man, she wanted to gain the trust of Tang Zheng, and she wouldn’t even fear conquerors.
"Handcuff him, it’s safer," Tang Zheng said, pulling out a pair of handcuffs and tossing them to Yu Manli, not wanting to concern himself with these petty affairs anymore.
"I’ll help you!" Despite his youth, the teenage boy had no tact. He had just been hit and now had the chance to return the favor, so naturally, he didn’t hold back and offered his help.
"Fuck off, who gives you the right to cuff me?" Yu Wei crawled up, backed away, and snatched up his rifle. But even before he could lift it, Yu Manli twisted the barrel of the gun.
Slap! Yu Manli slapped him across the face, and Yu Wei immediately spat out a mouthful of blood along with two teeth. If it weren’t for his shirt collar being held tightly, his head would have crashed into the glass window, adding another wound to his collection.
Click! Yu Manli cuffed one of his wrists and then lifted it, cuffing the other end of the handcuffs to the iron rod handrail on the roof of the vehicle. Because of his height, this made him stand on his tiptoes, which was quite uncomfortable.
"Ha! Look at you, acting all high and mighty now!" The teenager walked over with his rifle intending to make fun of him, but ended up being kicked in his lower abdomen by Yu Wei. The pain caused him to kneel on the ground.
"Tang Zheng, you’ve seen my combat abilities. I’m definitely more useful than him. I’ll obey you. Unhand me now!" cried Yu Wei, nearly peeing his pants in fear. What if they encounter enemies in this state? Not to mention fighting back, he couldn’t even escape. Up until this point, he still wished that he would be included in Tang Zheng’s group since he considered himself stronger than the teenager. However, he didn’t realize that in Tang Zheng’s eyes, his status had dropped to a point where he wasn’t even worth cannon fodder. After all, he had displayed poor character beating up his own girlfriend.
Ignoring him, Tang Zheng continued to study the map.
"Tsk! Worthless piece of shit!" With no reaction from Tang Zheng, the teenage boy felt a boost of confidence. However, this time he had learned his lesson and didn’t approach directly. Instead, he stood to the side and used the rifle to repeatedly hit Yu Wei.
Throughout, Yu Wei was fuming, desperately trying to hit and kick the teenager a few more times, but he never succeeded. Instead, the teenager brutally smashed the rifle against his calf multiple times, causing Yu Wei to gasp in pain.
"Keep a close eye on him, you have the key. Don’t let chaos ensue," Tang Zheng said, tossing the handcuff keys to the teenage boy. The latter immediately grasped them tightly in his hand with a gleeful expression.
"Boss, I guarantee complete mission success," the teenager said. Then he turned to Yu Wei with a devilish grin, "Hehe, beg me, or else I might just lose the keys you know?"
While the teenager was mocking Yu Wei, he saw Yu Wei snort, twirl his head and ignore him. This irritated the teenager, so he opened the window with a whoosh and made a throwing motion with his hand.
Yu Wei tried to appear calm, but in reality, his heartbeat was erratic from fear. If he lost the keys, it would be over for him.
"Beg me! If you do it sincerely, I might just beg the boss to spare you once," the teenager threatened Yu Wei, opening and closing his fist as if he was playing keep-away, making it clear he had intentions to torment Yu Wei.
The newcomers didn’t care about these trivial matters. The conquerors, too, had no time to deal with them as they were busy resting.
"Xin Xin, I was wrong. Can you speak up for me?" After a moment’s hesitation, Yu Wei couldn’t bring himself to plead with the teenager, so he turned to his girlfriend, putting on a remorseful expression. "I never thought about running away. That guy was lying."
Gao Xin hesitated. After all, they had been dating for three years, and seeing her boyfriend being treated like this, she felt bad.
"Tang Zheng, could you spare him this time?" Gao Xin still decided to plead for Yu Wei. Yu Wei was instantly filled with hope, but he hid it well.
"Damn, how could such a piece of crap have any redeemable qualities? Are you an idiot? Are you a masochist? Do you enjoy being slapped in the face?" The teenager was furious and thought Gao Xin must be lacking a few brain cells. He vented his anger on Yu Wei by hitting him with the rifle. Yu Wei, however, was not one to submit without a fight. He grabbed the iron handrail above his head and kicked at the teenager mid-air. (To be continued... If you like this story, welcome to qidian.com to vote for the recommendation, monthly tickets.
