Chapter 661: Chapter 8: Establishing Authority
The two beanie-wearing muscle men and the woman with purple nails turned their gaze in unison toward Tang Zheng, as Qin Yan, Bai Guo and others converged and greeted him. Anyone who wasn’t a fool could tell the influence he held in the team.
"Are you the group leader?" The woman with the purple nails flirtatiously approached Tang Zheng, inwardly admiring his good looks compared to her own man, there was no comparison.
"Let her go!" Tang Zheng ignored her and focused his attention on the man in the jacket. Beating up some Japanese was not an issue, but raping an innocent woman was despicable. It was also the perfect opportunity to display his authority.
"What are you going to do about it?" The man in the jacket spat out his contempt and provocatively grabbed the woman’s chin, leaning in for a kiss.
With a swift movement, Qin Yan and the rest aimed their guns directly at him without any hesitation. Lu Fan and Ruan Feifei teleported in just in time to hear his provocation. One released a Wisdom Sword, the other a blue electric arc, both aimed at him and sparking off his scalp causing his hair to stand on end due to the electric current.
Chills ran down the man’s spine in the jacket. He hadn’t anticipated that a single comment would ignite such collective fury. Clearly, the young man was of high regard amongst them. The two beanie-wearing muscle men exchanged glances, looking toward their own teammates.
"Let go of him, apologize!" Old Zhou reprimanded the man in the jacket before turning to Tang Zheng, showing a friendly smile. "Young people can be impulsive, bear with us. Given that we’re likely going on a mission together, we should all introduce ourselves."
"I’ll go first, I’m Old Li, a Conqueror who has survived nine rounds." Old Li stroked his Gravity Gun, smiling, "I have the ability of ’Beast Possession’!"
"Don’t change the subject. This kid insulted our group leader, what’s going to happen now?" Xu Biyun, too, had noticed the beaten Japanese. Laughing, she proposed, "Since we can harm newbies in this room, why don’t we simply wipe him out? People like him are just threats waiting to happen."
The man in the jacket laughed derisively, "Kill me? I’m a Conqueror who has survived six rounds. I could crush you with just one finger."
"So, surviving six rounds only grants you a Magnetic Storm Rifle and a piece of Level A protective clothing? Not only are you morally bankrupt, but your strength is also utter garbage." Lu Fan sneered, questioning him.
"What did you say, you little brat?" The man in the jacket perceived it as a loss of face and pointed his gun at Lu Fan.
"Shoot me then! I’ll let you take three shots!" Lu Fan, chin raised, unzipped his sportswear jacket to reveal an intimidating sight to the four Conquerors.
"Fireflies?" Old Zhou re-evaluated them all, they indeed seemed like a handful.
"I said let her go. Didn’t you hear me?" Tang Zheng frowned, feeling disgusted about teaming up with immoral individuals like them.
As the man in the jacket was still undecided, Wu Jiang suddenly appeared beside him, grabbing hold of his head.
"Let go of her and get out of the way." Tang Zheng glared at the man, his gaze sharp, "You have three seconds!"
His three Conqueror teammates stalled and didn’t step in. Partly due to their mediocre relationship with the man in the jacket, but primarily because Tang Zheng’s side was too strong; their entire group had just six members. While looking at the size of the opposite group of ten, it seemed an impossible number. They knew how brutal the Trojan Horse Game could be.
"Well, here are three more!" The woman with the purple nails was even more flabbergasted. Seeing the fully armed Yu Manli, Lin Weiguo, and Chen Hong, she was curious. How did they manage to survive each round with minimal casualties?
As the man in the jacket hesitated, Wu Jiang didn’t wait any longer. He grabbed the man’s arm and twisted it, forcing him to let go of the woman. Then, with one strong swing, he hurled the man onto the floor.
Despite his stubbornness, the man in the jacket wasn’t stupid. He noticed the oppressing presence of the opposing group and admitted defeat.
Three men with dyed yellow hair, cigarettes in their mouths, teleported in. After looking around, they lazily nodded at Old Zhou, who was standing beside them.
"Hey, where is this?" The other two began examining the women in the room, finally resting their gaze on the woman with purple nails. They had never seen a woman flirt so blatantly before and were enticed by her charms.
Without replying, Old Zhou swung a slap at the one who had questioned. The yellow-haired man spat out a tooth and some blood as he fell to the ground. The other two immediately drew a sharp breath, reaching down to their waists and pulling out a spring knife.
The two initially scared teenagers gained some guts upon hearing this, they lunged at Old Zhou. As for guns? Sadly, in China, nobody has the privilege to own one, so they presumed them all to be replicas.
Old Zhou slapped them both down, and then turned to Tang Zheng, "You can continue."
"I don’t care whether you are Conquerors, or newbies. If you are in this room, you will follow my rules. You are not allowed to commit any immoral acts. As long as you put in effort, our team will provide assistance to help you survive the Trojan Room." Tang Zheng glanced at Mei Jueye, noticing the bomb attached to him, and dismissed it casually.
The three Conquerors nodded their heads. No matter what, at least Tang Zheng’s personality gave them the conviction to trust him. They saw the people who survived as the proof of the claim. This formed the basis of collaborating with one another. For someone like the man in the jacket who was a scoundrel, would you trust him if he proposed a collaboration?
People subconsciously believe that the threat from a good person is always the smallest.
"Well said!" A man, around thirty years old, teleported in wearing Firefly protective clothing and wielding an S-class-heavy Magnetostorm Rifle, exuding a steady aura. He was evidently the leader of the other team, accompanied by a fifteen-year-old boy with long hair obscuring his eyes, who was also a Conqueror.
"My name is Zhuo Lie, nice to meet everyone!" The man clad in Firefly was bold and frank, showing traits of a martial artist.
"Nice to meet you!" Tang Zheng responded, assessing Zhuo Lie’s demeanor and understanding that he didn’t mind being the leader or not, and didn’t react to the beaten man in the regular jacket at all.
Zhuo Lie subtly scanned the others, secretly marveling at the sight of Chen Hong and Yu Manli. Obviously, they survived due to Tang Zheng’s command. Accordingly, he couldn’t help but look highly upon him, while the boy beside him curiously observed Tang Zheng.
"High school student, since we can fight in this room, how about we settle our scores?" Chu Baichuan hadn’t forgotten the former incident where the high school student opened fire on Yixin.
"Alright then, let’s all die together!" Mei Jueye squeezed the detonator tightly, glaring at Chu Baichuan. Discovering the authenticity of the bomb, the newbies immediately shrieked and distanced themselves. Some tried to crash through the only door in the room, but the doorknob didn’t budge.
"Baichuan, don’t be impulsive!" Ai Yixin didn’t want her husband to take risks. Considering Tang Zheng and Dantai’s characters, it was evident they would deal with Mei Jueye, who posed a threat.
"So stupid, Dantai could knock you down with just one mental impact, why try to provoke us with your suicide item!" Lu Fan scorned Mei Jueye, ready to strike at any moment.
"Don’t act rashly; although fighting is allowed here, you will be punished for murder." Zhuo Lie prevented Chu Baichuan from acting, gently advising him. After all, they had to work together, so it was essential to be sincere.
White light flickered again, and this time, eight women dressed in uniforms, legs wrapped in flesh-colored silk stockings, and wearing white high heels. Their name tags showed they worked in a bank. As two teams were combined, the members were not only from the same city.
Seeing everyone in the room, they looked quite surprised. Just as they attempted to speak, there was another flash of white light.
Wang Jianxing appeared in the room, clutching his legs and screaming. Mei Jueye’s gaze instantly solidified. He hadn’t expected this guy to luckily enter the Trojan Room.
"Shut up!" Old Zhou shouted, and silenced him. Coughing once, he returned to his previous position. He also needed to demonstrate his strong side, because otherwise, he might be used as cannon fodder. In the Trojan Room, having power means to have status.
"Huh, wasn’t I killed? Why am I here?" Wang Jianxing was confused and murmured. When he saw Mei Jueye standing to one side, he jumped up and threw himself at him. "You murderer, you broke my leg, stabbed me three times, I will never let you go, even as a ghost."
The newbies were terrified by these words and kept their distance from Mei Jueye, remaining on their guard.
No sooner had Wang Jianxing leapt forward than he was kicked in the abdomen by Mei Jueye and crashed heavily on the floor.
"This brat is indeed an unreasonable maniac," Dantai frowned, but the impression of Wang Jianxing in his mind was not good either.
Just as the newbies were about to ask what this place was, the grey cube in the center of the room lighted up, becoming semi-transparent, then floated up, spinning around, and the rock and roll version of the International Song was played. The hexagonal screen flashed a carousel-like series of survivor profile pictures, with over a dozen faces enlarged.
"Toys, please me with your lowly lives and sweet blood!" Silver Trojan finished his opening phrase and chuckled, "This time I decided to set up a gamble. You see, these more than ten people are the ones I predicted have a 99% chance to die, and if by the end, more than one of them survive, I’ll grant an extra hundred points to each of you!"
The profile pictures included Ai Yixin, a bespectacled engineer, a bank lady, a young woman and her daughter, Wang Jianxing, Mei Jueye, three Japanese girls, a Japanese young woman, three blonde middle school students, and a woman with purple nails.
Those who were not selected sighed in relief, while for the selected ones, their faces turned gray in fright. The 99% death rate terrified them.
"The Survival Challenge Game will start in five minutes. Due to the extreme difficulty, you will each have three initial pieces of equipment: a firearm, ten ammo clips, and a melee weapon. Additionally, each of you will have a radar which will be a significant tool for your completion of the game."
As the Trojan finished speaking, a steel frame lifted into the air, and the Conquerors caught sight of the radars on the rack and hurried over to familiarize themselves with its usage.
"Why is there no instruction manual?" Pang Meiqin became anxious, thinking the Trojan had deliberately set them up.
"You dimwit, can’t you figure it out on your own without an instruction manual?" The Trojan snappingly retorted at the beautiful stewardess.
