Chapter 602: Chapter 7: Slaughter and Spoils of War
Seeing the opponent’s Moon Blade spinning towards him, Tang Zheng knew he was up against a tough enemy. Well aware of the Moon Blade’s one-hit-kill capability, he didn’t think of dodging but blocked with his left arm to minimize the damage. At the same time, he fired his Thunderstorm rifle towards the enemy’s head with his right hand.
The opponent also adopted a Geckon’s tail-cutting-like tactic, sacrificing his left arm while holding a gravity gun in his right hand, aiming at Tang Zheng’s head.
The dazzling thunderball enabled Tang Zheng to see his face - a foreigner covered in thick body hair. His protective clothing was not only effective but also prioritized the enhancement of neural reflexes. His movements were extremely agile as he skillfully dodged the thunderball.
Tang Zheng can’t dodge anymore; the gravity gun doesn’t leave bullet tracks, so he can only predict. Simultaneously, he threw a rabbit bomb towards the enemy’s head. Although he missed, it luckily attached itself to his chest.
A second later, the enemy’s left arm was sliced open by the Moon Blade, blood spurted out. Tang Zheng immediately concluded that the enemy’s protective clothing was definitely S-grade. At the same time, his left arm was also cut, but then, with a bang, an explosion occurred. The blast wave and flames blew him away.
"Good chance." Tang Zheng lost his balance and was completely defenseless. In the eyes of the French man, constantly pulling the trigger, Tang Zheng was already a corpse.
Tang Zheng was at a disadvantage; he plunged his hand into the ground, deep enough to reach his forearm, and instantly halted his momentum. He could feel his hair stand on end as invisible gravity bullets whizzed past his face.
The enemy’s Moon Blade had an explosive attached. Not knowing what it was, Tang Zheng didn’t dare to be careless and put on his Power Armor directly. The launch pads on his arm and legs popped out, firing incandescent rocket shells.
The French man applied force to both legs, abruptly changing direction. As he fled deeper into the garden, he blew up all the chasing rocket shells with his gravity gun.
The two didn’t have direct contact again but have started another running chase. After a few seconds of close combat, they both found each other tough to deal with. The French man was not confident about winning, so he fled. After all, there’s a high chance in the game that they won’t run into each other again. But of course, if Tang Zheng was too weak, the French wouldn’t mind killing him and taking his equipment.
Sophie’s cannon beam grazed the French man’s legs and missed again. Alizeh did hit the target, but ordinary lead bullets were not dangerous at all. The French man obviously also realized this, and therefore didn’t bother dodging her attack.
"You two fools, you’re being underestimated," reproached Tang Zheng, taunting the female musketeers. After the Beastman battle, he knew these two women understood his words.
"Give me the Thunderstorm." Alizeh’s French had a magnetic, slightly hoarse tone that sounded incredibly sexy. That face that resembled the French pop star Alizeh left the French man who glanced at her dumbfounded.
The target was briefly stunned for just a few seconds, and Sophie seized the opportunity. A blue beam shot out, hitting him in the leg, instantly obliterating his protective clothing, leaving half of his calf burnt to a crisp.
The French man was sent rolling on the ground by the impact, but he didn’t shout. He gritted his teeth, swiftly applied a first aid kit to his leg, and then threw out a smoke bomb.
Hisss, without any explosion, a large amount of smoke overflowed instantly enveloping the surroundings.
"This guy has at least three S-grade items, tough nut." The French man, after estimating Tang Zheng’s strength, made a sudden leap into the air as he was about to slip out of the smoke range, looking at the wall of the botanical garden not far away.
As the thunderball and blue beams were about to hit him, a pair of black wings suddenly stretched out from his back. A beat of the wings instantly raised him five meters high, then he changed direction again and flew out of the botanical garden.
"Until we meet again," he roared the French man, not forgetting to shoot at Tang Zheng on the ground as he took the opportunity. He guessed that the two female musketeers were probably summoned by abilities, so there’s no use killing them.
"Damn Vietnamese woman, giving me false information." The French man was depressed. He, the Conqueror who survived ten rounds, almost fell into their hands. He flapped his wings to escape quickly, then reached out to pull off the rabbit bomb stuck to his chest.
"What is this thing? It’s so ugly." The French man just finished his sentence, the rabbit bomb exploded with a bang, destabilizing him and engulfing him in a ball of fire.
Although the French man did not die, his body involuntarily dropped downwards. Just as he regained balance in the shortest possible time, a blue beam fired, hitting him in the back and causing him to lose balance again. Then, thunderballs continuously shot and exploded on his wings.
Tang Zheng’s thrusters were on full power, charging towards the struggling French man in the sky like a rocket. To dodge Tang Zheng, the French man got hit by Sophie again and plunged straight down.
The rocket shells and Gatling covered the French man, who was lying on the ground. When Sophie arrived, she blasted off his thigh with a shot. It was impossible to kill such a character by directly blowing up his head, might as well cut off a leg first.
Boom, just as expected, the French man’s dying counterattack directly killed Sophie, but was immediately shot in the head by Alizeh.
Looking at the French man’s beheaded, battered body, Tang Zheng breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. This was all within his expectations. If the roles were flipped, he would also first kill the more threatening Sophie. This was an opportunity.
"Go grab that girl and knock her out!" Tang Zheng didn’t care about Sophie’s death. A female musketeer can be re-summoned again and again.
Being a coward, the girl didn’t dare to run, listening to the gunshots outside. Alizeh grabbed her from beneath a pot of plants.
Tang Zheng withdrew the corpse and his gravity gun, destroyed the monitor, then went to the security room. Only then did he find two security guards passed out from heavy drinking, blissfully unaware of the just happened chaos. After all, there’s nothing valuable in the botanical garden.
After destroying the videotapes, Tang Zheng threw the guards into the garden, then ignited the alcohol. He torched the security office, making it look like a car fire. As for the bullet craters in the glasshouse, he initially wanted to cover them up; however, the sound of a police siren followed this thought, indicating that someone had reported the noise.
Daring not to linger, Tang Zheng left with the girl slung over his shoulder. He woke her up in an alley.
"Gun, there’s a gun!" Terrified, the girl clung onto Tang Zheng’s sleeve and shrieked as soon as she came around.
"Look at this." Tang Zheng clicked his Memory Eraser, held it to her eyes, then shoved a wallet into her hand, swiftly leaving the alleyway.
Seconds later, the girl regained consciousness. She looked around with a dull expression and shivered.
"Why am I here? Was I robbed?" The girl couldn’t remember. Then she suddenly saw the wallet in her hand and, startled, hurriedly opened it. "Wow, so much money."
"Over three thousand bucks - did that rascal give me this?" The girl counted the money and drew a satisfied breath, then stopped, checked her handbag, and quickly reached into her underwear and touched her private parts. "Huh, it seems I’ve not been violated."
"Maybe I found it." The girl checked the wallet again, only to find soft girl currency. Disregarding her previous worries, she took out her cellphone and called her close friend.
Tang Zheng hailed a taxi and went to the suburbs. Entering an abandoned warehouse, he finally felt at ease enough to release the French man’s body from the space wristwatch.
As expected, the man was wearing an S-grade Firefly. No wonder he could withstand the Moon Blade. However, it was damaged and couldn’t be worn. Captured weapons could be used directly, but the power of the defense outfit would be drastically reduced. It could only be sold to Trojan at half price.
The other S-grade prop was the Moon blade, which also had a cooldown period of one minute. If he used two of them together, he could assassinate someone every 30 seconds. A good ambush technique.
He had an upgraded gravity gun with an A+ grade, which was better than what he gave to Bai Guo because it had a spiritual power attack. However, it was still much worse than the S-grade gravity gun.
"And there are three First Aid Kits and ten Nanoinjection Liquids. This is a steal." Tang Zheng saw the French man’s space wristwatch and couldn’t help expressing his admiration. The Russian Trojan Squad were really good guys; he thought they were so weak that even he could take their special props.
After unlocking the wristwatch in three minutes, a virtual item list showed up. It was full of supplies - tens of thousands of spiritual power bullets, thousands of spiritual power grenades, and a fully functional Terminator, various firearms, crossbows, vehicles, etc. The total value was probably around 8000 points. Of course, most of these, apart from what the French man had purchased, had been captured. Nobody had so many points to spend.
Tang Zheng would not have to buy any supplies for the next few games; the captures were enough.
"And several tens of millions of Euros - What’s wrong with this guy?! Why keep so much money in a wristwatch? Why not carry diamonds and gold?" Tang Zheng saw heaping stacks of black leather suitcases, dumbfounded. This guy was clearly hedonistic, since his wristwatch was full of fancy cars and US dollars. The man presumably lived every day in total indulgence.
After tidying up the spoils of the war, Tang Zheng packed the corpse into a plastic bag, intending to throw it away in-game. Then, he pulled a silvery-grey Maserati Convertible from his wristwatch, hitched a joyride around the suburbs looking for a base. He needed a place to dispose of the corpse.
Over the next ten or so days, apart from shopping with An Xiu Ru, Tang Zheng exercised. He called Qin Yan and others, asking them to be careful. As he had killed the French man, the enemy probably noticed that their current target was difficult and decided to retreat quietly.
In secret, Tang Zheng also kept an eye on Mu Nianqi. The girl was still living in Jingshan Villa, the only difference being that the monitor was gone. He didn’t know that Mu Nianqi had discovered something new related to the Trojan room and was so busy that she had no time to rest.
Time flies, those fifteen days had just flown by. After having dinner with An Xiu Ru, Tang Zheng made an excuse to leave.
Watching Tang Zheng’s figure disappearing into the subway, An Xiu Ru sighed, and housebound, left in low spirits.
In an old warehouse in the suburbs, Tang Zheng sat on a shabby bed, cleaning his weapons, for the transfer was to officially start at midnight.
When he entered the room with the pale white walls and saw he was alone, he opened the Trojan list and prepared to purchase some props. With over 9000 points - enough to resurrect Xin Lan in the next round, he might as well consume these points in advance, converting them into combat power. (To be continued...
