Chapter 469: Chapter 27: Killing the Conquerors
Having filled her stomach and temporarily resolving the crisis, Li Muqing once again clung to Tang Zheng.
"There’s no time, I’ll teach you some things, remember them, they could help you survive." Tang Zheng pushed Li Muqing away, his expression serious as he relayed the experience he gathered one by one to her.
Knowing that this concerned survival, Li Muqing listened attentively. As she listened, she felt her chances of survival were increasing and her confidence was being restored.
The night descended. After dinner, Li Muqing made an excuse to go to the toilet. She left the fortress and, once she had turned a corner, she took a deep breath and let out a small, tortured scream.
Tang Zheng was dismantling firearms, a preparation that would increase his skill. Hearing Li Muqing’s cry, he immediately picked up the Dragon Bone Curved Blade and Gauss sniper rifle on his side and rushed out.
"There’s a rat." Li Muqing squealed, throwing herself into Tang Zheng’s arms and pleading with a pained expression on her face.
Tang Zheng held her and looked around. Assured there were no problems, he sighed in relief. He then turned to look at the woman in his arms with confusion.
Li Muqing’s eyes darted about, trying to think of something to distract him.
"What are you doing? No more games like this," Tang Zheng said dismissively as he nudged Li Muqing away.
"Why are you ignoring me? Don’t you find me attractive?" Li Muqing complained. She spun around in the darkness and laughed, "Why are you holding back?"
Seeing Tang Zheng turn to leave, Li Muqing quickly caught up with him and hugged him.
Tang Zheng pushed Li Muqing away, the air around them rippling with intense fluctuations.
Two high school girls, dressed in sailor suits and armed with samurai swords, walked out of what seemed like a teleportation gate. Without saying anything, they immediately charged and struck with their blades.
Tang Zheng grabbed Li Muqing’s arm and threw her several tens of meters away, not caring whether she would be injured. He then turned and charged at the two high school girls.
The three shining blades continuously collided, sparks flying. In the night, streaks of white were cut into the darkness. A graze from the sharp blades would leave a trail of blood on the skin.
Although the fireflies were not being pierced, the sensation of being cut by the blade was horrible. Tang Zheng was nearly cut on the throat a few times. However, the two high school girls also didn’t have the upper hand. Their sailor suits were torn and scratched by Tang Zheng’s curved blade, leaving large scars on their white skin that bled visibly.
One high school girl tried to pursue Li Muqing, but was blocked by Tang Zheng. The right tactic at this point would be to use Li Muqing as bait, drawing one away, and then killing the remaining one. But he couldn’t do it and, considering that continuing in this way might work against him, he decisively activated his abilities.
The warrior appeared and immediately swung his war hammer at one of the high school girls, who was sent flying into a wall. Being close combat series, the warrior had the upper hand against them.
The other one managed to block Tang Zheng’s attack just in time to be hit by the warhammer, utterly crushing her upper body.
Blood and flesh splashed onto Tang Zheng’s face, making him draw a cold breath. The warrior, however, felt no remorse. He exhaled white mist, charged at the girl who had just stood up, and threw her to the ground with great force.
The sound of bones breaking was clearly audible. The girl’s body visibly twisted and contorted. Even still, she managed a final act of defiance, stabbing her samurai sword into the warrior’s stomach, but to no effect. She was thrown next to Tang Zheng’s feet.
Tang Zheng obviously wouldn’t miss this opportunity and slashed at her white neck severing her head instantly.
Watching this scene from a distance, Li Muqing’s body shook. The sight of a blade cutting through flesh and blood was more brutal than death from a bullet.
Looking at the girl who is indistinguishable from an ordinary high school student, Tang Zheng always had a shadow in his heart and couldn’t help cursing that the Silver Trojan was perverted. Choosing such a girl as the punishment squad, with a survivor or two being slaughtered every day, no one could avoid going mad and twisted psychologically. At least the Nazi Zombies were easier on the eyes and more hackable.
Li Muqing slightly twisted her ankle, and there were multiple abrasions on her body. The pain caused her to inhale sharply.
"You’re not seriously injured. Follow me." Tang Zheng took all his weapons and ran towards the nearest fort that hadn’t been destroyed by the beastmen yet.
Without a man’s careful comfort, Li Muqing harbored resentment in her heart, but she didn’t dare to complain and could only follow closely.
"The punishment troops must have attacked others by now. This is the perfect time for us to snatch something from the victor." Tang Zheng explained. The remaining forts on the frontline were undoubtedly occupied by the conquerors. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to resist the beastmen’s attacks. This served as the best landmark for them.
Li Muqing nodded, feeling somewhat better.
"Follow me at your own pace, and be safe." Tang Zheng didn’t want to waste time. He instructed her before accelerating and rushing out. From a distance, he saw that a man at the fort was beheaded by a female high school student.
This was a Filipino conqueror who had just survived three battles. He was even unluckier than Tang Zheng for encountering six female high school students. After he killed five of them, he finally lost because his ability was exhausted and died under their swords.
Tang Zheng crouched and waited for the punishment troops to teleport away before he hurriedly went to clean up the battlefield. Other than a space backpack, a Thunderstorm rifle, and a piece of protective clothing, there was nothing valuable.
"What a cheapskate." Tang Zheng waited for Li Muqing to catch up, tossed the protective clothing to her, pointed towards the direction of their next target, and dashed off again.
This time he caught the tail-end of another battle. The strong Vietnamese man had turned his arms into bladelike shapes, dismembered a female high school student, and forced the last one to continually retreat. Seven punishment troops corpses were strewn all around the area.
This guy was not only a formidable enemy but also a pervert. Seeing that victory was in his grasp made him cackle maliciously as he cursed in Vietnamese and teased the schoolgirl. In the end, he snatched her samurai sword bare-handedly, thrust it into her shoulder, and pinned her to the ground.
Tang Zheng did not expect this guy to dare toying with the punishment squads. Despite being disgusted, he also felt a renewed sense of respect for the man. Then he aimed the Gauss sniper rifle and locked onto the conqueror’s head via the scope.
The conqueror saw one of the female high school student’s bodies dissipate, leaving a golden seed behind. He was ecstatic and burst out laughing. Suddenly sensing danger, he quickly activated a teleportation card, but not before a searing beam of piercing energy passed over the spot where he had just been.
"Damn." Tang Zheng reloaded the bullet and quickly fired again. This time he didn’t miss. The conqueror was in the middle of struggling into a piece of protective clothing and had used up his teleportation card. He could only dodge awkwardly and was grazed by the energy beam, which immediately filled the air with the smell of charred meat.
Tang Zheng fired a third shot. The conqueror, disoriented by the pain, did not dodge in time. The energy beam hit the left side of his chest. He quickly turned into a blackened, burnt corpse that emitted white smoke.
"I won’t underestimate Fireflies ever again." Tang Zheng felt that the man’s death was somewhat unjust. If he had been just a bit more cautious amidst his victory and desires, it would have taken Tang Zheng much more effort to take him out.
Tang Zheng walked over, fired another shot into the dead Vietnamese man’s, then picked up the golden seed. Only then did the surviving female high school student crawl up again.
Tang Zheng pressed the curved knife against her back, and inserted it.
After removing the A-level Unicorn protective clothing from the conqueror, and confirming that there were no other items on the first floor, Tang Zheng entered the fort. The first thing he saw was several bodies skewered onto the wall by wooden poles. Dong Bai was among them, looking like a wind-dried catfish.
"An unlucky newbie." Tang Zheng was not interested in burying Dong Bai’s body. After locating the conqueror’s large capacity space backpack, he packed up the food and weapons and quickly left the place.
"Is this a big harvest? Should we continue killing?" Having put on the captured protective clothing, Li Muqing immediately felt much stronger. She couldn’t help but want to find some newbies to hone her skills, feeling that she should actively adapt to the killing.
