Chapter 326: Chapter 22 - Expulsion_2

"I have to endure, surviving is the most important." Leonard covered his severed arm, showing a grim smile. "I apologize to you, let’s call it even."

The newbies exclaimed in surprise, not expecting Leonard to back down. It’s understandable, though, he lost an arm, if he left the group now, he would be utterly without hope. They thought the conflict would end with him admitting defeat, but Tang Zheng simply refused.

"No can do, let’s part ways. Being with him, I fear getting stabbed in the back." Tang Zheng shook his head, started packing up his sleeping bag. "If he stays, I leave. After all, I’m used to surviving on my own."

Tang Zheng wore a carefree expression, and Lu Fan did not show any regret or worry, but began to pack up his sleeping bag and dismantle the stove with a joyful face, apparently preparing to leave.

"Finally, I can get rid of these burdens." Lu Fan hummed a tune and muttered a sentence loud enough for all people to hear. They suddenly realized that they simply didn’t deem forming a group with them worth their while. Thinking carefully about it, ever since they arrived in the Cretaceous period, they had continuously been helping them, taking care of Nicole and her blonde daughter.

"We never received any help from the team, why would they stay here for any benefit?" Jenny snorted and resolutely stood with Tang Zheng, "I support you."

"Tang, stay." Miranda voiced her opinion, making a gesture of goodwill towards him. And those newbies who followed her lead tried to persuade him verbally.

"Don’t go." Mars always chose the stronger one. Anyway, none of these guys were good people, he only needed to survive."

Robert watched as the newbies started to support Tang Zheng, he sighed and looked at Leonard, "I’m sorry".

"Look at you making me the scapegoat, see you are defeated." David remained silent, but in his heart, he was cheering broadly. He had held back his laughter only because he was afraid that Leonard might survive to retaliate.

Leonard’s face turned pale in an instant, he looked to Danny who had always supported him, only to find that the latter was avoiding his gaze. Danny wasn’t stupid, he didn’t want to oppose the majority’s will for the sake of a handicapped person.

"Fine, I’ll go." Leonard glared at these people with clenched teeth, and slowly backed away, preparing to move forward along the mapped route.

"Wait." Tang Zheng seemed to enjoy the scene where everyone was endorsing him, and stopped him,

"Tang, you’ve changed your mind, haven’t you?" Jack, who had been on the edge of his seat, exploded with the spirit of chivalry again. "I told you, we all should live in harmony."

"You can leave, I’ll let you take the food, but leave the bullets and water."

"What?" Not only Jack, but everyone was dumbfounded, yet afterwards an eager mindset followed. Their backpacks were all lost, and even their ammo clips were emptied while fighting the terror crocodile. They needed supplies.

"Tang, don’t cross the line." Leonard almost squeezed the words out from his throat, yet at the verge of saying it his heart gave a shiver, as he noticed the covetous glances of the newbies.

"Do you take out the stuff on your own, or should we fetch them?" Derek was also blunt, hoping to exchange his active cooperation for more supplies.

Robert silently agreed. Although he could suppress the newbies with violence, he would also be rejected. Therefore, at present, they could only ride in the same boat.

"You will eventually die, the space backpack would then be wasted. Don’t you guys want it? Danny, rest assured, I definitely won’t rob it". Tang Zheng began to provoke Danny, trying to make them fight each other.

Danny was very hesitant. To tell the truth, he really wanted to grab it. It was so valuable, it could save him from risking his life several times.

"If you want it, my uncle and I can help you." Like a little devil waving a steel fork, Lu Fan was tempting Danny.

"Don’t force me to fight to the death, even if I die, I can drag one to hell with me." Leonard roared angrily with a relentless attitude. He had never imagined that things would come to such a pass.

"Let’s not waste sleeping time anymore, Leonard, leave two-thirds of the supplies, then you can leave." Robert didn’t want to drag on, he aimed his gun at Leonard.

A pile of M4A1 ammo clips, a full thirty thousand bullets, one hundred hand grenades, and a box of mineral water, Leonard compromised. After leaving all this stuff behind, his gloomy face was finally granted permission to leave.

Danny had wanted his thunderstorm rifle too, but no one backed him up, and they were afraid they couldn’t beat him, so he gave up. Now he was starting to regret it a bit. If he had known earlier, he wouldn’t have argued with Tang Zheng. If he had discussed it with him, he surely would’ve gotten some help.

"All I need is to get to Natalie, why the hell am I jealous of Tang," Danny finally let go. So what if Nicole and Julia liked Tang? He was on the verge of winning Natalie over, and she was a big star.

"Alright, everyone go to bed, no need to keep a night watch." A bit frustrated, Robert dived into his tent after distributing the supplies.

Danny invited Natalie into his tent, but she declined. It was only the first day, not time for her to play her chip yet.

"Tang, can I sit down here? It’s too damp over there." Miranda couldn’t stand the moist soil and longed to spend the night on Tang Zheng’s moisture-proof mat.

"Sure," Tang Zheng said, digging out a can of pineapples and tossed it to Jenny. "This is for standing with me. Your reward."

"You were absolutely right, Leonard was too treacherous." Jenny was excited when a can of food was exchanged for just one sentence she made earlier. Looking at the translucent fruit pulp, she was about to open it and taste it.

The newbies could only swallow their saliva as they secretly felt Tang Zheng was much more generous than Leonard.

"Jack, you keep the first watch, then Jenny, then the hip-hopper, then Miranda." Tang Zheng drew out eight cans of food and placed them before everyone. "The two-hour shift isn’t that tough since it’s just by the campfire. And here it is, a can of beef and a can of fruit — that’s your reward. Of course, if you don’t want to do it, you can opt-out."

"I’m in." The assigned hip-hopper and Jenny lit up their faces. It was tough to sleep soundly on this rough ground, so it was better to spend two hours earning some food.

"We also want to take a shift." The two waitresses exchanged a glance and put forth their request.

"There’s no need, eight hours should take us to dawn. Let’s do it tomorrow night. Rest assured, we’re taking turns, and there will be rewards." Tang Zheng would certainly keep a night watch had he not planned to coax them with food. He’d rather have stripped Leonard of every piece of his supply.

"Tang, you’re the man!" Maggie gave him a thumbs-up before crawling into her tent and Danny awarded Tang Zheng a smile for the first time.

Meanwhile, Miranda was looking at Tang Zheng with an elusive look, holding her can. He was indeed not to be underestimated. In just one day, he had driven away the group leader Leonard behind the scenes and unconsciously made everyone follow their rhythm.

Lu Fan lent her sleeping bag to Julia and her daughter, a blanket to Nicole. Tang Zheng had a set of spare supplies, but he had no intention of lending them.

"Uncle, do you think we’re safe now?" Curling up in Tang Zheng’s arms, Lu Fan inquired anxiously, "They won’t strike us in the night, will they? Stealing all our supplies?"

"That’s why I picked four people who are close to us for the night watch. Plus, there’s an alarm set up around us, so we should be safe." Tang Zheng pointed outside the tent, "With so many newbies gathered on the moisture-proof mat, if they want to throw grenades, even if they kill everyone, the points deducted would be enough for a Trojan Eradication."

"Yeah, with so many people, it’s hard to incite a rebellion, and moreover, we have knight Jack." Lu Fan felt relieved, snuggling further into his arms and closing her eyes.

After recalling the events of the day and being sure there were no loopholes, Tang Zheng sighed and began to rest. He was missing Qin Yan and the others a little too much. At least when they were together, they didn’t have to worry about being ambushed while asleep. Unlike now, where he had to use tactics.

Tang Zheng slept lightly, waking five or six times throughout the night. He was a bit restless but until dawn broke, nothing happened. He disentangled Lu Fan’s arm from around him, got out of his sleeping bag, unzipped the tent, and ventured out.

Miranda, holding her rifle, was sitting by the dying campfire. Upon seeing Tang Zheng emerge, she nodded in acknowledgment. Beside her feet was just an empty can.

"I gave that to Rebecca and the others, that’s okay, right?" Noticing Tang Zheng’s gaze, Miranda explained, "You’re not going to say I’m trying to win people over, are you?"
