"Do I seem that doubtful to you?" Tang Zheng knew that if Miranda continued to prove her honesty in this way and he pretended to not understand her implications, he would be despised. Moreover, if he acted too generously, he would fall into her verbal trap. So he straightforwardly admitted it and warned her, "But I hope something like this doesn’t happen again."

"Are you talking about not giving them cans, or doubting you?" Miranda was taken aback, then started laughing with her hand covering her mouth. She realized this was his counterattack. He probably didn’t mind giving others cans but he does mind being toyed with.

"He’s quite a stubborn fellow." Through their brief interaction that day, Miranda had gotten a sense of Tang Zheng’s character. He was a young man who absolutely would not be controlled or manipulated by others. He liked to act at his own pace, occasionally played tricks, was slightly kind-hearted, and had occasional bursts of a sense of justice. Overall, his values were still in the process of forming. Although he was aware of what would benefit him the most, he could not resist the urge to be kind-hearted.

"Both." Tang Zheng took a deep breath, looking toward the eastern horizon dyed red by the dawn. The clear skies lifted his spirits as well. Sunlight poured onto the rainforest, slowly evaporating the moist vapor from the soil.

"Please sit." Miranda shifted on the blanket to make room and gestured for Tang Zheng to sit.

Tang Zheng hesitated.

Tang Zheng’s reaction satisfied Miranda. Within the entire team, only this outstandingly handsome and capable man was worth her efforts to win over. Even if it meant offering herself, she didn’t mind. At that moment, her plan was to outsmart Nicole. So, she patted the blanket.

"Tempting me?" Tang Zheng noticed that the spot Miranda was offering was too close to her. If he sat down, their bodies would be touching. He really wanted to teach her a lesson. So, he decided to play hard to get and let her pursue him.

Upon seeing Tang Zheng not moving, Miranda cursed him inwardly for being a coward.

"I’m going for a patrol, perhaps, prey hunting on the way." Smelling the rotting scent of the soil and fallen leaves, Tang Zheng slung his M4A1 rifle on his shoulder and declined her invitation.

"I’ll join you." Miranda glanced at the others sleeping on the blanket and also stood up.

"Be my guest." Tang Zheng took out an electronic map and turned ninety degrees to the left from the prescribed route.

The rainforest continued to be quiet in the early morning, only their footfalls were heard. Tang Zheng, with his rifle at the ready, was somewhat distracted. They were out of sight of their camp now, so Miranda was likely to make her move soon.

Miranda glanced at the man beside her out of the corner of her eye, thinking he was pretty cautious. She tried several times to slow down and let him move ahead, but he kept pace with her, obviously not wanting to expose his back. Marching this way suited her better.

"I can’t wait any longer." Miranda eyed the dead tree trunk five meters away. As they passed it, she pretended to lose her footing and started falling towards Tang Zheng.

For a moment, he wondered what would happen if he didn’t catch her. However, the clever Miranda had obviously taken this into account already.

"This youngster wants to let me fall?" Miranda didn’t believe for a second that Tang Zheng’s reaction would be that slow. But, it didn’t matter. She had taken into account their exact distance from each other, so she feigned panic and reached out to catch Tang Zheng.

Tang Zheng responded by silently turning around to continue walking.

Miranda laughed and followed after him.

Tang Zheng glanced back at her in annoyance. Women are indeed unpredictable..

"Hey, there’s nobody around here, and nobody would know what you do!"

"Are you joking?" A stunned Tang Zheng stopped and looked at Miranda.

Miranda didn’t answer. She provocatively flashed an eye at Tang Zheng and proudly pushed out her chest.

"Is he really just an innocent guy?" Seeing Tang Zheng’s mixture of shyness and struggling, Miranda originally planned to just give him a bit of sweet talk; but, now, she wanted to take the initiative. She wanted to destroy that innocence and make him fall.

"You can touch if you want." Although Miranda has only been with her husband, she was skilled with her flirtatious tactics. She knew how to tempt men quite well.

Tang Zheng backed off. He felt it would be better to find Nicole. At this moment, he felt pressured around Miranda, he just wanted to be a good guy.

"Hmm." Miranda boldly grabbed him for a kiss. She reveled in the feeling of pushing him away, especially seeing his shocked and angry expression. It was delicious.

Seeing Miranda’s complacent expression, Tang Zheng was both annoyed and amused. What a situation.

"Hey, see how good I am?" Miranda calmed down a bit. She felt that the atmosphere between them was great right now; it was the perfect time to make him fall for her. So, she moved closer and playfully kicked his leg with her toe.

Tang Zheng grabbed Miranda’s ankle abruptly and pulled her down. With a surprised cry, Miranda fell into his arms.
