Chapter 300: Chapter 3 Journey in a Foreign Land
The young woman who had just teleported in was chewing gum and clad in a skin-tight blue leather outfit, with the zipper ending at her chest.
Tang Zheng was looking at the M4A1 Carbine in her hand, a common weapon. He wondered how much she had enhanced her physical abilities.
The sight of her enhanced bust and firm buttocks made two youths, who had just smoked marijuana, unable to resist whistling at her.
The woman in the tight suit flashed a sinister grin at them. Misinterpreting her smile as a signal of success, the hip-hop youths began to stand up to make their move. But the woman aimed her gun towards their sides and fired a spray of bullets, halting their movement. All the other newbies in the room didn’t dare to budge either.
"Drop your weapons, put your hands on your heads, and squat down!" The gunshots drew the attention of two policemen who were in the corridor detaining hooligans. They immediately broke into a cold sweat and yelled loudly while attempting to call for backup through their walkie-talkie. But all they heard were static sounds; there was no reply.
"Stop shouting, you’re already dead." The woman dismissively explained before ignoring them to leisurely stroll through the room, taking pleasure in observing the fearful expressions of each newbie. When she saw Tang Zheng, however, her curiosity was aroused.
"Hey, aren’t you scared?" At the woman’s words, all the newbies recalled the death scene they had witnessed before entering the room, their faces turning pale. The only exception was Tang Zheng, sitting quietly in the corner, showing no visible reaction, which drew the woman’s attention.
"One million US dollars for a night with you," Tang Zheng glanced at her chest, intentionally testing her. Judging by her behaviour thus far, this type of woman seemed to enjoy watching others struggle in pain. To pique her interest, he had to be unpredictable; although, he hoped it would annoy her enough for her to ignore him - he didn’t want any attention drawn to him right now.
"Unsatisfied, how about fifty thousand dollars?" Hearing the price Tang Zheng named, the other young men’s eyes swivelled towards him, and the two handcuffed hooligans didn’t even try to hide their greed.
"Ugh, just a million? Are you looking down on me? It has to be at least one hundred million dollars!" The woman spat out her gum in distaste, and then it seemed to hit her that her response wasn’t accurate as she doesn’t offer such services. But before she could correct herself, the Asian man spoke again.
"Agreed." Although Tang Zheng still sat, he leaned forward, changing his position so that if the woman attacked, he could counter swiftly.
"Wait, you are actually prepared to pay one hundred million dollars?" Margaret, a frank rural-girl, was stunned and failed to notice the change in Tang Zheng. Rather, a smile spread across her face as she began to reconsider her self-worth; was she really worth that much?
As per Tang Zheng’s standards, she was barely a 65. The most attractive woman in the room was the one wearing the backless evening gown.
"A naive country-bumpkin, probably survived through her first game as a newbie," Tang Zheng continued his act, adopting an impatient expression. He looked away, awaiting the bait to be taken, and prepared for a surprising twist of events.
"You’re really lying!" Margaret wasn’t bothered by Tang Zheng’s rude comments - she felt deceived. She angrily pointed her gun’s muzzle at Tang Zheng’s forehead.
"Yes, I was misleading you. I just wanted you to leave, I don’t like talking to strangers," Tang Zheng’s face showed signs of anxiety. He took out his mobile phone, checked the time, and his breathing became noticeably strained.
"You’re in a hurry? Ha-ha, you’re not leaving here for days," Margaret was initially outraged, but seeing Tang Zheng’s state, she felt that he was in some sort of trouble and started laughing gleefully.
"Are you free? Why not go buy some gum?" Tang Zheng pulled out a hundred-dollar bill from his pocket and handed it to Margaret. He always carried some gold and US dollars as hard cash with him, ever since a game in Japan. He couldn’t always rely on memory erasers for money.
"What’s your name? Where do you live? Do your parents own a Chinese restaurant?" Margaret introduced herself, put away her rifle, grabbed the money from Tang Zheng, and sat next to him. "I’m Margaret."
Tang Zheng ignored her, his agitation mounting.
However, Margaret was happy. She enjoyed watching others struggle, and of course, Tang Zheng’s handsome appearance added to his appeal.
Just as Tang Zheng, having hooked his prey, was getting ready to reel in, the room was teleported into by a blonde mother-daughter duo caught in a car accident. The woman, around thirty, holding a little blonde girl in her arms, was screaming for help, adding an abrasive quality to the audio tension of the room.
"Uncle." Lu Fan also teleported in. He looked around the room full of foreigners, bewildered and anxious until he spotted Tang Zheng sitting, respectably, off to a side, and a smile spread across his face. Lu Fan ran to him, arms wide.
"Has Sister Qin Yan arrived yet?" Lu Fan saw Margaret next to Tang Zheng and politely greeted her. "Sister, you’re really beautiful."
The little girl was already bilingual and had recently mastered perfect proficiency in languages further enhancing her sharpness.
"Are you Asian?" Margaret thought the little girl had good taste; she pulled a piece of gum out of her pocket and handed it to her. The little girl was cute and didn’t seem to be mixed-race.
"No, no, try mines." Lu Fan wouldn’t accept things from strangers. Casually rejecting her, he handed her a piece of chocolate instead. "I’m Chinese."
"By the way, I’m Chinese too." Tang Zheng’s voice was loud as he wanted to make his nationality clear. If someone figured it out a day later, he might be labeled a fraud. After all, he had never lived in America, and some habits and slang might betray his true nationality.
Indeed, upon hearing that there were foreigners in the room, everyone’s eyes made a swift turn towards Tang Zheng, especially the two policemen who scanned Tang Zheng from head to toe with intense suspicion.
"Is the Great Wall of China really magnificent? I heard there’s a lot of delicious food, so delicious that the diners swallow their tongues?" The thick-skinned Margaret was completely unaware of the change in the room’s atmosphere. Seeing the mysterious eastern youth for the first time, she couldn’t help but ask, not caring about his nationality.
"Absolutely. Sister, if you come to China, you must visit my house. Oh, why are you holding a gun? Is it real?" Lu Fan blinked his eyes, using his childlike innocence to prompt Margaret to divulge information.
"It’s a reward from the exchange." Margaret was about to speak when her statement was abruptly interrupted by the excited cheer of the hip-hop youth.
"It’s Keira Knightley! Can I have your autograph?" Not only the three hip-hop youths but all the other newcomers except the drunken woman rushed over to request autographs, their excitement palpable.
"Who is she?" Tang Zheng was puzzled. Margaret beside him was also eager to give it a try. She stood up and searched for something for the star to sign.
"She’s a world-class movie star who starred in the Pirates of the Caribbean series," Lu Fan glanced at Tang Zheng and said, "Uncle, you wouldn’t just know about Jessica Alba, would you?"
"I only know about Natalie." Tang Zheng was a little frustrated at being pitied by a little loli, he indeed seldom watched American movies.
Another person who teleported at the same time was a professional woman in a uniformed skirt and black stockings. However, she was completely ignored. Seeing this scene, she showed no change in expression and walked towards the two policemen.
The two policemen were also a little distracted, wanting a star’s autograph. The thugs, seeing the situation, immediately began to beg for mercy.
"Can you let us go?" Two hooligans stood apart against the wall, being searched by the police. The butterfly knife, marijuana, and a small amount of US dollars taken by a white policeman were stuffed into his pocket when no one was looking.
"Uncle, that policeman is taking people’s things," Lu Fan pulled Tang Zheng’s arm, meaning that all crows under heaven are as black as pitch.
Little Lolita spoke at her usual volume, but the room was not large, so it was heard. The faces of the two policemen changed, they looked at each other and walked over.
The newcomers stopped asking for autographs, wanting to see how the policemen would handle these two Chinese men.
"This is evidence collection, understand?" The white policeman pulled out his baton from his waist and pointed it at Tang Zheng, "You, stand up."
"Why?" Lu Fan wasn’t pleased, it was just one sentence.
"Where are your passports? Let me see them. I suspect you’re carrying contraband." The policeman put on a bureaucratic demeanor, intentionally flashing his police badge, trying to intimidate Tang Zheng and the other newcomers.
"Wow, is this the quality of the world’s police?" Lu Fan didn’t care and mocked the officer.
"Gentlemen, you can’t do this," the doctor came forward to defend Tang Zheng, "You are violating people’s rights."
Margaret remembered her interrogation by the police when she worked as a hostess in a bar in New York. The memory made her uncomfortable, and she wanted to help Tang Zheng argue his case.
One of the policemen shrugged indifferently and went back to what he was doing. The other smiled at Tang Zheng. Just when everyone thought it was over, he suddenly swung his baton at Tang Zheng’s head.
The two restaurant servers screamed in shock. If the baton the officer was swinging had hit, the eastern youth would have, at the very least, suffered a concussion.
"What are you doing!" The doctor, enraged, rushed over to stop the policeman but quickly stopped.
Tang Zheng had already seen the smirk at the corner of the white policeman’s mouth. As the officer swung his baton, Tang Zheng sprung up with his left hand and punched with his right fist, striking the policeman’s belly with the force of a siege hammer.
The white police officer’s body immediately bent into a horizontal V-shape. The contraction in his stomach made him unsteady, and he fell to the ground.
Seeing that he was still struggling to reach for his gun, Tang Zheng immediately stepped on his face, knocking out three of his teeth.
"Stop." The other policeman was caught off guard that Tang Zheng had resisted, let alone that he had downed his colleague in an instant. He quickly gave a warning and reached for his revolver. He soon stopped when he saw the little loli standing next to the eastern youth, a silver revolver in her hand, the hammer pulled back, looking at him with a smile.
Bang, Lu Fan fired a shot to intimidate him.
