Chapter 255: Chapter 11: Demons Attack

"Holy shit, that’s intense!" Zhang Hao had originally intended to rake up some points while the skeleton soldiers were emerging from the ground, but he found himself dumbfounded in the face of the countless demons on the ceiling, a chill creeping up his spine.

"If the students swarm over here, it will interfere with our dodging." Tang Zheng tilted his head, subtly noting the students running around. He confirmed Zhang Hao’s position, and voiced his complaint loud enough for Zhang Hao to hear.

Zhang Hao shuddered, his attention skilfully redirected. His weapon, which was originally aimed at the demons, was now aimed at the students, a few bullets being fired under their feet.

"All of you stop! Whoever dares to continue running in this direction, I will kill." Zhang Hao’s face contorted menacingly as he threatened with a strained voice, "All of you, fuck off!"

"What a sly uncle." Lu Fan couldn’t help but chuckle at this. Tang Zheng clearly didn’t want to play the bad guy, so he took advantage of Zhang Hao’s fear of dying. Even if Zhang Hao didn’t say anything, Pang Meiqin would surely have stopped the high school students.

Tang Zheng tested the Thunderstorm rifle but to no avail. He resorted to spraying bullets from his AK74 indiscriminately into the ceiling. The sound of gunfire sent the demons scattering like flies, buzzing and swooping down towards the humans in the coliseum.

Pitter-patter... The first thing to fall were the droplets of drool from the demons. The warm, burning sensation from the drool sent shivers down one’s spine.

With a rat-a-tat-tat, tongues of flame burst from the muzzles. Bullets exploded into bodies of the demons, producing a puff of blood mist. The fallen demons flopped onto the ground, scattering droplets around, but far more were successfully landing among the high school students.

A sudden "whoosh" sound, like boiling water pouring into an ant nest, led the high school students, who felt safer staying together, to scatter, each of them fleeing for their lives. Screams echoed throughout the coliseum, drowning out even the boisterous gunshots.

"Fortunately, the skin of these demons isn’t tough, otherwise, we would have been in real trouble." Li Xinlan held an M4A1 carbine. Thanks to her strengthened body, she endured the recoil with no problem, and with the flat muzzle, each shot reliably brought down a demon.

The demons stood about a meter and a half tall, with bat-like wings sprouting from their back. Their arms, bulging with veins, were brawny to an extreme, vile to look at. Like humans, their defense power was also low, with an average demon dying after about five bullets.

"This isn’t troublesome? There are at least five hundred of them." Pang Meiqin held an M4A1 in her hands. Although its firing speed was fast, its efficiency was low, killing at most three with a full clip. She couldn’t help but worry, "Why is everyone able to utilize firearm precision skills except me?"

"You can’t hit anything if you don’t practice, of course." Bai Guo, quite apt at single-shot firing, had the right to say this. She must have practiced arduously in private. Each pull of the trigger brought down a demon. The crisp sound of gunfire played a rhythmic tune.

Click, the bullets ran dry. Bai Guo quickly pressed down on the ammo clip button and whipped out a spare clip from her ammo pouch. The sound echoed as she slammed it in. Before the empty clip hit the stone floor with a clang, the gunfire resumed — all within a second.

"Little Bai Guo, you’re pretty skilled. You’re almost up there with Tang Zheng." Lin Weiguo praised. After body strengthening and skill purchasing, everyone had a basic shooting score of around 80. Without any interference, anyone could maintain an 80% hit rate. The difference in real combat was the individual’s comprehension and adaptability, where Pang Meiqin was somewhat lacking.

Lin Weiguo had the best shooting skills, closely followed by Tang Zheng and Yin Shang Wu, then Bai Guo and Qin Yan. Li Xinlan wasn’t very proficient with firearms due to her focus on deploying Seed Abilities from Ice Age. Zhang Hao only relied on the sheer number of bullets to make up for his poor aim. Watching others take down a demon with only three or four shots distressed him greatly.

"Tang Zheng, you gave me the Howling Reaper just to waste my points, didn’t you? I’ve fired three bullet chains in just two minutes." Zhang Hao complained, but didn’t slack off on the trigger. With overwhelming firepower, he had somehow become the main attacker.

"If you think it’s a waste, give it back to me," Tang Zheng ordered while firing at the demons attacking the high school students. "Xin Lan, Qin Yan, Zhang Hao, you’re in charge of defense, protecting the formation. The rest of you, take down the wandering demons."

"Heh, no way, this gun is too good," Zhang Hao naturally didn’t want to return it.

"Then work harder. Don’t these demons translate to points?" Tang chided on the outside but couldn’t help but chuckle internally. He would let Zhang Hao use it for now until he’d used up most of the bullets. He’ll take the Howling Reaper back then. By that time, Zhang Hao might be crying out for Tang to use it. Besides, these demons didn’t pose a significant threat. The AK74 was enough, and given the situation, even if hundreds of demons were killed, it probably wouldn’t yield more than a few dozen points.

While Tang Zheng and his team took on the battle with ease, the high school students were panicking, scattering in all directions. Those caught by the demons were clawed on their backs, their clothes torn, and blood splattered. They screamed pitifully as they fell to the ground but were still alive, continuing to struggle. Some of them were even engaged in close combat with the demons. Although the demons were small, they were strong and thus held the upper hand.

"Tang Zheng, weren’t you going to be a class teacher? Why aren’t you looking after your students?" Seeing the situation stabilized, Zhang Hao had the leisure to start chatting again. Seeing the miserable state of the students brought him immense joy. "But to be fair, these demons are weak. Can’t believe they can’t even kill anyone."

"These demons are just here to cause trouble. They might be able to achieve something if they teamed up with the skeleton soldiers," Pang Meiqin remarked after she calmed down.

"That’s the difference between us and them. Look at those students over there, they’re forming a defense formation. Oh, Gao Meilin is among them." Lu Fan, being protected by Tang Zheng, had the safest position. Aside from occasionally firing his revolver, he spent most of his time observing the characters and reaction of all the students. The little loli knew this information would be helpful to Tang Zheng.

"The gunfire is too loud, they can’t hear even if we shout." Tang Zheng didn’t want to waste effort, he simply helped to shoot down the demons chasing the high school students.

A girl being chased by a demon was about to panic when she was knocked to the ground by a classmate in front of her. Seeing the demon about to pounce on her, she forgot to run and waved her hands in confusion, trying to drive it away. Then, with a bang of a gunshot, the demon that was two meters off the ground suddenly dropped and landed on her.

When covered in blood and feeling the heat from the demon’s body, the female student fainted in fear.

"Tang Zheng, can’t you save some useful students? What’s the point of keeping these pants-soiling goods?" Zhang Hao felt that Tang Zheng was wasting bullets.

A demon lunged at Tang Zheng from the ceiling, only to be swatted away just before it got close. It rolled on the ground. Lu Fan quickly aimed and shot it.

The SS Item Russian Roulette Sharp, ignored defense, and also had an explosion effect. The parts of the demon hit by it instantly exploded into a blur of flesh and blood.

"Do you think you can save whoever you want? It depends on the height of the demons. Otherwise, it’s likely to kill the students." Lu Fan gave Zhang Hao a disdainful look, this guy was really stupid.

Zhang Hao was choked and speechless because he saw some demons landing and running rampant in the crowd, which was indeed hard to aim at.

The continuous shooting of Tang Zheng and Lin Weiguo killed several demons. The rescued high school students were not completely foolish. They ran over because the situation had stabilized, and he had also understood the attack methods and abilities of the demons, so he didn’t drive them away again.

"Everyone get behind the formation, don’t block our line of fire." Tang Zheng definitely didn’t mind brushing up some goodwill at this moment.

The high school students, however, kept complaining about each other, pushing hard to get into the formation, after all, no one wanted to be on the outside.

"You guys hold on, I’ll go out." Tang Zheng instructed, drawing his Bronze Sword and running out, slashing every demons he encountered along the way and beginning the melee.

After three minutes, two-thirds of the demons had been killed, basically leaving only those mixed in the crowd. They clearly had IQ and didn’t choose to attack Tang Zheng’s group, who had guns.

Killing the demons with his sword and rescuing the students who were still running around the Coliseum, Tang Zheng didn’t tell them to hide behind the formation. If they didn’t even have this judgement, it was better for them to die. As expected, two of them were fools, thinking they were temporarily safe, they sat on the ground panting.

A minute later, all the students crowded towards the stone walls of the coliseum. In the center was only Tang Zheng, who was holding a Bronze Sword in his left hand and hacking at the demons, like clearing away tree logs. Any blocking his way were cut down to the ground. A demon seemed to be frightened and wanted to flap its wings and fly back to the ceiling.

Bang, Tang Zheng fired a Single Shot from the AK74 in his right hand, blowing its head up.

"So fierce." A few students muttered in awe and admiration, but there were also some different voices.

"Xu Guanlin is not bad either, look there, he’s leading over a dozen people in a defensive formation." A male student pointed to the opposite side, his tone full of envy, wishing that he could join their circle and become a part of them.

Xu Guanlin and his group were resisting with rusty cold weapons and the primary firearms they had acquired. They had also killed over thirty demons in front of the formation, achieving quite impressive war results.

It was not just this male student, most people looked at Xu Guanlin’s commanding presence with envy. If they could join in, they wouldn’t feel so lonely and powerless.

"Ha, are you jealous? You guys could totally leave, it seems that the one who saved you guys in the center of the coliseum is Tang Zheng, not Xu Guanlin who only knows how to hide on one side to defend." Pang Meiqin snorted disdainfully, wishing she could just drive these students away.

"Why should Tang Zheng do it if they don’t even help their own people?" Bai Guo was also a little upset and roared, "Tang Zheng saved you guys, and you still admire other groups while standing behind us, you guys are even more ruthless than ingratiates."

These comments made the high school students feel utterly humiliated, especially the male student who first praised Xu Guanlin. His face turned red with embarrassment, he lowered his head and shrugged his shoulders. Of course, some people were unhappy, but looking at the bodies torn apart by the demons in the Coliseum, no one dared to say a word. (To be continued.
