Chapter 1582: Chapter 44 Undoubtedly Powerful
"It was my people who acted recklessly." Although the German desperately wanted to kill Tang Zheng, he had to consider the overall situation and forcibly restrained himself.
"Is this guy really that easy to talk to? No, he must be plotting something." The Agate Man didn’t believe it; Tang Zheng was not someone who easily suffers losses.
Tang Zheng was waiting for Dantai. As long as the deputy group leader arrived, it wouldn’t be too late to deal with these guys, and he didn’t really want to start a fight and let the Agate Man’s group leader take advantage.
Leaving the German behind was a measure of balance, creating a power dynamic where no one dares to act rashly.
After a day’s journey, exhausted, and before night fell, Tang Zheng ordered to set up camp. The endurance of the indigenous people was much stronger than that of the survivors; they could just throw animal skins on the ground, start a campfire, and go to sleep.
The short man did not return, which worried the Agate Man and made him indifferent to fighting for leadership, causing the German to despise him even more.
Without spices or culinary skills, the natives roasted meat on the fire or chopped it into small pieces and boiled it in clay pots until it was porridge-like, considering it a meal.
Such simple food, yet the natives enjoyed it as if it were a feast.
"The more simplistic the people, the less complex desires they have!" Shen Jiashu, eating canned meat, remarked emotionally. Since gaining his ability, he felt he had the right to sit together with Tang Zheng, his expression carrying a hint of confidence and pride.
"Xin Lan, teach her cooking." Tang Zheng pointed at a sturdy native woman, who, even though she already owned dozens of slaves, still served Tang Zheng like a humble servant.
This attitude undoubtedly earned Tang Zheng’s favor.
"Forget about the primitives. How will we allocate nighttime watches?" the German group leader approached with a food tray, containing sausage and black bread, a very plain meal.
"Three squads, perfect to divide the night into three parts." Tang Zheng had already planned, setting a trap for them.
"What if enemies come?" The German asked rudely while chewing on his sausage, "Do we need to support each other in defense?"
"No, whoever’s watch it is must handle the defense themselves," Tang Zheng smiled. "If they fail, there’s no point keeping them around."
"Are they capable of that?" The German, licking the bread crumbs on his lips, dismissively pointed at the Agate Man, contempt clear in his tone.
"Want a one-on-one fight?" Initially, the Agate Man wanted to refuse since Tang Zheng’s proposal greatly affected his team, but the German’s contempt changed his mind. If he didn’t stand firm, he might end up getting devoured by the two groups.
"We are allies." The German was not foolish, changing the topic, "I’ll keep the first half of the night."
"No, I’ll take the first half of the night." Seeing the German wanted to argue, Tang Zheng shook his finger, "As the most powerful team, it’s our duty to handle the most critical time."
"Okay, you cunning man." The German group leader compromised, understanding the grandeur in Tang Zheng’s warning. Everyone was shrewd here; typical attackers choose the deep of night when prey sleeps deepest."
"I’ll choose dawn." The Agate Man wasn’t foolish—letting the German take the latter half of the night. If someone attacked, the Germans would surely kill a few or at least suffer losses themselves. Then he could follow Tang Zheng’s method, hang them up for all to see, and intimidate any unclear enemies.
"No, I choose dawn." Unable to provoke Tang Zheng but unafraid of the Agate Man, the German had figured out everyone’s combat strength throughout the day. If not for the respect towards Tang Zheng, he would have taken action long ago.
"How can you do this?" The burly man was furious.
"Why not? If you disagree, fight me one-on-one!" The group leader was dominating, holding his fist with his thumb outstretched and turning it downwards derisively.
"When the group leader returns, I’ll definitely skin you and make shoe insoles." The burly man was fuming, but ultimately didn’t have the courage to challenge, only fantasizing about it internally.
"Group Leader Tang, are you just going to watch them bully us?" A female newbie coquettishly acted pitiful, "After all, we are compatriots, aren’t you going to say a fair word?"
"Justice lies in the heart of people." Tang Zheng chuckled, thinking to himself that he wasn’t stupid enough to be used as a pawn.
The red light of the campfire reflected on Tang Zheng’s face, pairing with his confident smile, intoxicating Fang Zhiwen who was secretly observing him.
"This is the demeanor a man should have!" Not just Fang Zhiwen, other newbies also admired Tang Zheng wholeheartedly, looking at his imposing manner which pressurized the other two groups into utter silence.
"We are peers, and I’m not inferior." Shen Jiashu clenched his fists, motivating himself. He used to think being a Student Union President and securing a party membership through the backdoor was impressive, but now he realized that was all bullshit. Having the power to decide life and death in conversation, that was what a real man should be able to do.
"Go, hang these three Hellfires up." Tang Zheng threw out three Power Armors, still covered in broken flesh and fresh blood.
"Group Leader Tang, this isn’t how you play!" The Agate Man complained with a sour face, giving in, "Once you hang these, who would dare to cause trouble?"
The Agate Man had been expecting Tang Zheng to make an example out of someone.
"Today’s my fasting day; I don’t feel like killing." Tang Zheng made up a reason, finishing the last bite of his lunch meat and throwing the can into the campfire.
"Keep dreaming, you executioner." The Agate Man slandered but with a pleasing smile on his lips, "Please let me borrow them to use."
"Group Leader Tang, name your price, I want to buy it!" As soon as Tang Zheng pulled out the Hellfire, individuals ranked second and third in the German team couldn’t sit still anymore. The mobility of that thing is just too awesome. With it, their ability to survive would increase by at least twenty percent.
The others were also eager and thirsty, their gazes tightly fixed on the Hellfire, almost wishing they could own it themselves.
Fang Zhiwen and the other two exchanged glances, feeling uneasy and deeply afraid that Tang Zheng would sell it.
"Sorry, this is prepared for my group members." Tang Zheng pointed at Shen Jiashu.
Shen Jiashu had never been so excited; suddenly, he felt almost a ’willingness to die for a confidant’ kind of touch, being very clear about the value of the Hellfire.
"Excuse my frankness, even if they activate their ability, they won’t live to see the end of the game," said the second-ranked individual, taking out a 2S-grade artifact, "How about this offer? Hellfire, without being repaired by Trojan, is just a spoils of war that can’t be worn directly. Rather than keeping it, why not sell it to me?"
"I’m not short of equipment." Tang Zheng shook his head and tossed six Light Defense Shields to Fang Zhiwen and the others, "Two each."
"Our group’s standard issue is Hellfire." Xu Biyun was very proud; following Tang Zheng meant having food to eat.
"Impossible!" The German group leader couldn’t believe it, "Power Armor isn’t common like cabbage."
The group leader couldn’t continue; the electronic girl brought out the Hellfire, and other people’s eyes turned red with envy, especially those at the Hero Level. They knew they could crush the woman in front, but still, her equipment wasn’t as good as theirs, which was incredibly embarrassing.
"Don’t be too proud, this Shield against a Hero Level attack is as fragile as a piece of paper." Agate Man also felt aggrieved; during his newbie days, he hadn’t had such glory, literally fighting through with weapons and armor.
The other newbies watched Fang Zhiwen and the other two, resentment welling up within them, almost to the point of spitting blood. The welfare in the Warhammer Team was indeed good; if transfers were allowed, they really wanted to defect.
"How about adding one more 3S-grade equipment?" The second-ranked individual was determined to get his hands on the Power Armor.
"I’ve already said I’m not in need of anything," Tang Zheng tired of the redundancy, thinking to himself that all your Space Wristwatches will eventually be my spoils of war.
"Stop wasting your effort," the German group leader patted his subordinate’s shoulder and gave him a look--one that implied intentions of murder and robbery.
"Group Leader, you shouldn’t show off too plainly; the Germans must have their eyes on you," Agate Man said, appearing concerned for Tang Zheng on the surface, but internally he was thrilled, eagerly hoping for a conflict between both parties.
"Pfft, if I don’t throw out some substantial bait, I’m really afraid the Germans won’t pop their balls out and attack me. Then what excuse would I have to slaughter them?" Tang Zheng added fuel to the fire, "Even if it’s just a pair of underwear, it must be left for me!"
Listening to Tang Zheng’s domineering declaration, Agate Man was dumbfounded, while the newbies of the Warhammer Team were excited; following such a leader, they would never feel stifled.
Three units of Hellfire were indeed sharp; at midnight, when two units of Hellfire flew overhead, smartly they took a detour.
"Can’t you hang on for a few more hours?" It was the Germans’ turn to keep watch, and seeing Xu Biyun retracting the Hellfire, they couldn’t help but ask.
"We can deal in equipment, buy three hours."
"We don’t need equipment," Xu Biyun refused.
What you fear often comes to pass; the Germans had bad luck. Not even half an hour had passed in their shift when three units of Hellfire tore through the sky, landing at the west side of the camping ground, where the blazing campfire was the most conspicuous landmark.
"So many natives, we’re gonna be rich." The newcomers were Americans, who didn’t even glance at the Germans standing opposite them but stared at the natives wrapped in animal hides and sleeping, their eyes gleaming.
"Hey, American guy, do you think you can beat us?" The second-ranked individual scoffed, "Having so many slaves, can’t you deduce our strength?"
The Americans swept their gaze over Tang Zheng’s side, the Eastern-style tents clearly marking their identity; the presence of so many Conquerors made them hesitate.
"Hey, German guy, if you want to utilize us to intimidate the enemy, you have to pay the price." Tang Zheng stood up, waving his hand, "American guy, we’re not together, if you want to fight, go ahead."
"Right, most of the natives here belong to them," Agate Man added fuel to the fire, feeling incredibly fortunate; arriving any earlier would have made him the miserable one.
"We can handle this." The American guy was very conceited; hearing a murmur from his companion, the group leader’s expression turned eager.
The Germans naturally heard this, and their faces changed.
"Two Hero Threes, one Hero Two, group leader, can you handle it?" Tang Zheng exploited the situation, "If you give us five hundred natives, I’ll help you fight."
"At most two hundred," the German replied, immediately regretting his words as he noticed the Americans’ morale boost even further, which wasn’t surprising; this conversation also made it clear to the other party that they were not on the same side.
Tang Zheng had no intention of helping the Germans; having the two sides fight each other to death was more beneficial for him.
The American also saw through Tang Zheng’s intentions, but the temptation before them was too great; they wanted to test the opponent’s combat strength, they couldn’t just be scared off by a few words.
