Chapter 1530: Chapter 118 The Luckiest Choice
Everyone looked at the cursed soul on his knees wailing after the Light Gate vanished, feeling deep empathy, knowing that leaving the Team meant certain death.
The sky resounded with a smug laughter; in the Silver Trojan’s eyes, these survivors were but ants trying to stop a chariot, doomed to perish.
"This BOSS is full of evil taste, as annoying as the Silver Trojan!" Lu Fan pouted and shot at the Mutated Beasts around the perimeter, venting his frustration.
Silver Hair twitched at the sight of many agreeing with Little Lolita.
Irreversible now, the Conquerors saw that Natasha and Emily had no good strategies left and began to act as they wished, entering the Light Gate one after another.
As time passed, the Light Gate continued to descend, and the Mutated Creatures and Giant Soldiers intensified their attacks; as the number of survivors decreased, the pressure on those remaining multiplied.
"When do we go in?" Yue Jing approached Tang Zheng, shooting while asking, resolute in his decision to stick with Tang Zheng.
"Keep waiting!" Tang Zheng noticed that the Teams that hadn’t left were eyeing Vasily and Bingxu, ready to move with them.
A flash of white light swept across the sand as Ferrando and his coalition appeared, thousands strong, instantly heightening the tension.
"Cease fire, we mean no harm!" Maggie shouted, preventing any accidental firing.
Armed and at a standoff, fingers on triggers, ready to pull, the Giant Soldiers made a surge forward due to the distraction, pushing another fifty meters in.
"The most important thing now is to kill the final BOSS and complete the mission, even if we fight to the death!" Ferrando suppressed his irritation, looking at Bingxu and gently persuading.
The man known as the Golden Unicorn had planned to wait until the BOSS and the invaders were both worse for wear before he stepped in to clean up, but he had not anticipated the BOSS pulling such a move. Waiting any longer, he wouldn’t even be able to pick up a single strand of hair.
"Clear the way to the Light Gate!" Bingxu yelled at his Group Members then stepped aside, "Be my guest."
No one opposed Bingxu’s decision; the forces were evenly matched, and a fight would surely benefit the final BOSS.
"You decide for yourselves!" Ferrando spoke and then silently watched the Light Gate, calculating something.
Ferrando, out of desperation, knew the weaker Teams couldn’t waste any more time; at the command, they immediately led their Teams towards the Light Gate, seeking a slim chance of survival.
Another batch of Light Gates disappeared, then ten marked up to number forty-six descended.
"Go!" At Emily’s command, the Group Members moved unhesitatingly, almost teleporting at lightning speed into the Light Gate.
Several American teams, waiting for this moment, quickly set out to seize the thirty spots, as they were compatriots, making a Team Battle unlikely.
The Light Gate vanished, and the Americans who didn’t make it in time were striking their chests and stomping their feet, almost dying of regret.
"Big Brother Ferrando, I’m going in too." Maggie exchanged a glance with the man wearing glasses and charged towards the chosen Light Gate.
As the world’s second-ranked Team, the Night Saints’ every move was watched by all, setting an example for others to follow. Their entrance into the Light Gate led to a surge of others not waiting anymore and rushing in.
Taking into account Ferrando’s subordinates, there were still two-fifths of the people left in the Square, all from strong Teams, actually hoping to see if there would be a turning point after all the Light Gates were issued.
"Team Tang, let’s go in, the pressure is too great!" Wang Fang urged, with fewer people, the Mutated Creature’s offensives grew even fiercer.
By now, the entire beach and nearby sea had been dyed a glaring red with blood, and Corpses piled up into mounds.
"Keep waiting!" Tang Zheng wielded his Fenglin Huoshan Army Equipment, summoning Takeda Cavalry to fend off the Mutated Creatures with an ocean of bodies.
Tang Zheng’s show of force startled everyone nearby.
The Cavalry donning red Armor took out their Bronze Cannons, and a deafening volley blasted a gap in the Giant Soldiers. They charged ahead, their Yari piercing into their bodies, the two sides clashing like raging torrents.
With all the Group Leaders engaged in the fray, there was no room to slack off. Some, after estimating their own strength, couldn’t wait any longer and entered the Light Gate.
Ten Light Gates up to number sixty descended, crashing onto the beach, with Golden Sand flying.
"Charge, into number fifty-five!" Natasha yelled, leading her team.
"Good luck, young man!" Vasily saluted Tang Zheng, then extended his torso revealing dozens of Muzzles and opened fire on Ferrando’s approaching party.
The King of War’s arms turned into six-barreled machine guns, firing bursts of energy amidst the flying shell casings.
"Dodge!" Ferrando’s group evaded, as the Giant Soldiers behind them were unlucky and were blasted open in an instant.
"Charge, into number fifty-eight!" In Hero Mode, Ferrando unleashed a powerful Mental Attack, intercepting Natasha’s team while leading his own towards Light Gate fifty-eight.
"Hehe, this one’s mine!" Several group leaders took a step faster, used a teleportation card, and directly appeared in front of Portal 55 with their teams, charging in.
They weren’t foolish. They figured that a team like Vasily’s, acclaimed as the best at team battles, must have a way to locate the BOSS. That’s why they waited until now to make their move.
However, what happened next made those who thought they lost their chance and were annoyed exchange bewildered looks.
Natasha suddenly changed her course in front of Portal 55 and rushed into Portal 57 instead. In less than a second, Zhu Kefu and his followers entered like lightning, all of them went in.
"Tang Zheng, what are you waiting for? Take your people and get in," Silver Hair dashed toward the light gate, suddenly turned his head and roared at Tang Zheng, "Vasily, Bingxu, even Ferrando, they definitely have rare props that can find the final BOSS. Follow them, you can’t go wrong."
"Tang Zheng, go in!" Sha Ou loudly urged him.
Qin Yan, Lin Weiguo, Li Xinlan, and the others didn’t speak. While defending against the giant soldiers, they gave Tang Zheng a glance. Even if it meant death, they believed in his judgment.
Dantai’s lips moved, but in the end, he said nothing. As the deputy group leader, he should correct the leader’s mistakes, but somehow, looking into Tang Zheng’s firm eyes, he always felt this young man seemed to have even more confidence than Natasha.
"What on earth are you waiting for?" Dong Zixuan couldn’t sit still any longer, walked up to Tang Zheng, and yanked his arm forcefully, "The two strongest teams have already gone in, what are we staying behind for? Waiting for death?"
"Shut up." Pang Meiqin took a step forward, went to Dong Zixuan’s side, and pushed her away directly.
"I’m not afraid to die, I just hope you give a proper reason." Dong Zixuan felt Tang Zheng was being foolish. The reason given by the silver-haired was very sufficient; if they didn’t go now, they would lose the opportunity. After all, each light gate only allowed thirty people in.
The survivors who were a step behind rejoiced at the turn of the tide, following the Russian team and Ferrando, and rushed into the light gate.
Only less than one-seventh of the people remained on the beach now, under immense pressure, and most of them were ones who hadn’t managed to keep up.
"Wait!" Tang Zheng said coldly, without explanation. There were too many prying eyes and ears on the beach; he didn’t want to give away secrets. Once people entered Portal 63, it would reduce their own team’s quota.
"Damn it, a bunch of lunatics, I can’t wait any longer." The remaining survivors cursed and rushed toward the light gate. They had no choice. With no one to hold them back, the mutated creatures and giant soldiers swarmed up, ready to swallow them at any moment.
"I’m going now; you guys take care." The Warcraft Brother couldn’t wait any longer and took the lead to leave. If Yue Jing and Wang Fang hadn’t taken action with Tang Zheng before and witnessed his strength, they would have run away long ago too.
"Xin Lan, Lu Fan, Ruan Feifei, full firepower, hold on for one more minute!" Tang Zheng roared, unfolding the Steel Sky.
The metal barricade materialized in the sky. Amidst the clicking sounds of gears meshing, the orbital cannon formed and bombarded the ground. The Kirov airship descended, the bullet nest opened, missiles howled, and heavy bombs also dropped.
In the deafening sounds of explosions, seas of flames churned.
Ice spread and formed walls, clogging the giant soldiers, while lightning ravaged, flaying them.
"Now it’s my turn to shine." Under the effect of Lu Fan’s ability, sand transformed into a dozen dragons, soaring into the sky, then fiercely smashing into the middle of the mutated creatures. After shattering their formation, the sand coalesced, engulfing them like flow sand.
Portal 63 finally descended!
"Charge!" Tang Zheng activated a gravity field, enveloping the group members, and then used the collective teleport function of the Magic Mirror, directly appearing in front of Portal 63.
"Go!" Tang Zheng initiated the White Dwarf Star, those who had mistakenly chosen this gate were repelled by the blast, and after he beheaded a mutated creature, he retreated into the gate.
Compared to the bloody and brutal killing on the beach, the passage inside was peaceful, like it was made of sunlight, with a sense of warmth.
"Old Soldier, Yu Deye, Eye Patch Man, Yue Jing, could you four clear the way?" Dantai was unsentimental and directly played the bad guy, "If you don’t want to, that’s fine, we can just get rid of you right now."
"Why do we have to go too?" Yu Deye was dissatisfied, "I’m also from the Warhammer team."
"Brother Lin is here too, right?" Dantai let the Old Soldier go first, worrying that these people might play tricks. It was ultimately reassuring to arrange one of their own to lead.
"Can you now explain to us why you chose this light gate?" Kevo, as the strategist, was very curious, "If the reason is sound, we will choose to follow your command."
"Gut feeling." Tang Zheng casually found an excuse to fob off the question.
It took fifteen minutes for everyone to pass through the passage and arrive on an endless grassland, looking at the verdant grass and swarms of butterflies, everyone was stunned.
"Let’s rest for a bit." Dantai didn’t act rashly, planning to send out scouts to find the small BOSS guarding the area, but the next second, a halo of light suddenly appeared, and someone was teleported in.
"This is called safe?" Seeing the faces of the Japanese, Kevo cursed out, feeling tricked.
"Psychic Impact!" The moment Dantai shouted, four psychics unleashed a psychic storm, causing the newly teleported Japanese, who hadn’t grasped the environment, a temporary pause.
A team battle was about to ignite.
