Chapter 1487: Chapter 75: Pursued and Killed

Aya was struck hard in the abdomen. Her body spasmed and weakened, unable to borrow any leverage as she hovered in mid-air. She could only watch helplessly as she was about to collide with the woman who had run towards the door. Just before contact, however, her body was suddenly torn away, catapulting back in the opposite direction.

The woman grabbed at thin air, shocked, but quickly reacted and burst forward to pursue the attack.

"Get lost!" With a sweep of his left hand, Tang Zheng unleashed a gravity barrier, which, like an invisible hammer, slammed into the woman. She was merely first stage and couldn’t withstand such an attack, spitting blood as she was sent flying.

The black giant, now beastified, followed close behind Tang Zheng and threw a punch mid-air. With a loud bang, an air cannon blasted towards the back of Tang Zheng’s head.

Tang Zheng teleported instantaneously. The black giant lost his target, and as the air cannon whizzed past Aya’s body—barely missing her—he flinched, knowing if he killed her, he’d surely be executed by Ferrando. Instinctively, he reached out to catch the woman flying past.

"Watch your back."

As the black giant was contemplating where the enemy had gone, he heard his teammate’s warning. He attempted to defend himself, but it was already too late.

The gravity well descended, restraining his body, then the Daylily launched a variety of negative effect halos that completely enveloped him.

Tang Zheng brandished an S-Class curved knife he had seized from the enemy group leader, swinging with all his strength at the black giant’s head.

Bang! The shield shattered. The black giant dodged. He saw Tang Zheng abandon the kill to catch Aya, thinking he’d miraculously escaped death. The next second, however, his vision flipped, and he saw his headless body spurting blood as it fell to the ground.

Tang Zheng had already made up his mind: to kill the black giant first and foremost. Seizing Aya was a ruse to confuse him, creating an opportunity for a teleport strike. With the group leader’s strength, it would surely put significant pressure on the giant. Once the black giant saw a chance to survive, he would surely relax his guard, and that’s when the invisible warrior would strike the most lethal blow.

The first stage woman, seeing the team’s fourth-ranked black giant killed so easily, was petrified with fear and turned to flee.

Sizzle, sizzle—Li Zheng’s purifying light beam struck, hitting the mark squarely, and burned her into a puddle of black ash that scattered with the wind.

"Don’t worry, we’re the good guys." Tang Zheng comforted Aya, supporting her, and then watched the group leaders fight nonchalantly.

This was just an average team. When Dantai and the others caught up, these fellows had already been blasted to bits by the group leaders; the veteran English Group Leader, sensing the bad situation and attempting to flee, was unfortunately torn into a pile of meat during the onslaught.

"We don’t need to confirm identities this time, right?" The Warcraft brother stared at Aya, dressed in plain clothes, noticing no difference from the imposters.

"We went to such lengths to find him; there shouldn’t be a problem, right?" Wei Xiangnan didn’t think there was a trap. "Should we find a hospital for a DNA test?"

The Warcraft brother was only joking, but several Conquerors frowned slightly.

"What do we do now? The enemy will likely catch up soon." Yue Jing wanted to recover his lack of presence. "Let’s go find the King of War. Even if they attack, we’ll be safe."

"Are you a lapdog for the Russians? Have you no spine? Are we going to surrender without them?" The tough guy blamed, completely disregarding Zhu Kefu standing nearby. "Hmph, I’ll kill Vasily eventually."

The others glanced at Zhu Kefu, the blonde handsome guy who just shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.

"Cough, watch your language," the Warcraft brother wrapped his arm around the tough guy, reminding him.

"Watch for what? Even if Vasily were here, I’d say the same thing." The tough guy pulled away the Warcraft brother’s hand, staring into Aya’s eyes, "Interrogate first, get all the information she knows."

"Let’s get out of here first and talk about it. Group Leader Wang, could you lead the team as the pioneer?" Dantai stopped the tough guy, his expression bland, leaving everyone guessing what he thought.

"Distribute the weapons to everyone." Tang Zheng tossed the black giant’s space wristwatch to Li Xinlan, and casually pushed Aya toward the tough guy, "You do the questioning."

"Really? That’s harsh. Little Tang, you need to develop the habit of treating women gently, or no woman will marry you." The Warcraft brother was always chatty, with something to say even when off-topic, "Oh, I just realized, your team has quite a few beauties, huh? Introduce me to some?"

"Let’s go." The tough guy pulled Aya rather roughly.

"Let go, you’re hurting me." Aya resisted, trying to break free from the tough guy’s grasp.

"Quieter!" Seeing that persuasion didn’t work, the tough guy knocked her out with a chop of his hand, then carried her on his shoulder.

Tang Zheng and Dantai exchanged glances, smiling wryly. They had been observing Aya’s reactions, and now that opportunity was gone.

"Let’s find somewhere to hide first and see how things go. If we could find Aya, so could they." Yue Jing’s face was continuously dark. The feeling of being ignored was terrible, and even the group members like Fu Tianxiao were starting to look down on him.

"I can’t hold them back any longer. The enemy has gained control of the satellite," two-thirds of Shen Qingshuang’s consciousness had been building firewalls in the network, all of which had now collapsed.

"Xiangnan, help her." The Warcraft brother looked at the sky, muttering, "Doesn’t that mean we’re completely exposed to the enemy’s view now?"

"No chance left. They’re better than us." Wei Xiangnan checked his wristwatch, his expression stern, "In about five minutes, the enemy will be here."

The temporary team headed downstairs in the elevator, grouped by the Trojan Squad. The tough guy, distrustful of others, volunteered to guard Aya. Besides the squabble between Yue Jing and Wang Jin, the other team leaders gave up.

"Don’t you all like to keep your trump cards close at hand? Why give up Aya?" Ruan Feifei couldn’t figure it out, and bluntly asked to foster better relations.

"It can’t be that you’re afraid of the tough guy, right? That guy is too arrogant. I really want to catch him and throw him into the dark room for a few days!" Dong Zixuan, though of a lower rank, never felt inferior and spoke without care to Tang Zheng and the others. If it were any other team, she would have been beaten by now.

Gu Xueqi guessed a possibility but she didn’t answer, smartly retaining her silence.

Dantai had no time to explain anymore, as the enemy arrived even sooner than Wei Xiangnan had predicted. When the elevator descended to the 172nd floor, curses from the tough guy and dense gunfire came through the communicator.

"Which floor are you on?" Dantai asked.

Boom, no one responded, instead, a loud explosion was heard, causing the entire elevator to shake slightly.

"Hurry up!" Dong Zixuan kept pressing the elevator button, wanting to get downstairs as quickly as possible.

Tang Zheng grabbed the policewoman’s hand, although the button for the next floor was already lit, he instinctively pressed it anyway.

"What are you doing?" Dong Zixuan was startled, then her face showed a sudden realization, "I get it, you gave Aya to them so they would become the main target of the enemy’s attack, allowing us to conserve our strength. But did you consider what if Aya gets hurt by accident?"

"The enemy won’t kill Aya," Yu Deye replied calmly, but his consideration was still somewhat one-sided.

"But those soldiers that belong to the mitochondria will," Ruan Feifei finally started thinking, although unfortunately, she still couldn’t keep up with the likes of Gu Xueqi and Lu Fan.

"It’s because if attacked, the elevator would be destroyed. Staying here is very dangerous," Gu Xueqi thought the policewoman should moderate her attitude; otherwise, she would soon be disliked by the team.

Ding dong, the elevator doors opened. Just as a slight gap appeared, Xu Biyun, standing in the middle, shouted out.

"Enemy attack!"

Giant Soldiers were standing outside, aiming their rifles at the elevator. Their skull masks were terrifying, and the moment the door opened, bullets whizzed out along with several hand grenades.

Lin Weiguo and Xu Liangmao almost instantly stepped forward, blocking the bullets at the doorway. However, Tang Zheng reacted the fastest, deploying a gravity barrier that deflected the bullets and hand grenades.

Nevertheless, Xu Biyun and Pang Meiqin, who were in front, were still hit by gunfire, but luckily they were wearing protective clothing and were not injured.

Dantai’s mental impact swept through and Ruan Feifei waved her hand, shooting lightning out of the gap which wreaked havoc among the Giant Soldiers.

Bang, Lin Weiguo punched out the elevator door and darted out, grabbing a Giant Soldier to use as a human wolf-tooth club, swinging it around at the enemies.

The Giant Soldiers were very fierce, opening fire towards Old Soldier and their own companions. After being hit by the mutating bullets, their bodies quickly swelled, turning into monstrous meat mountains, and pounded at the elevator shaft.

Boom, the walls cracked, the elevator swayed, and the steel cables snapped, plummeting down.

"Ah, help me!" Li Huiwen grabbed onto Tao Ran beside her, screaming loudly. The sensation of free-falling terrified her so much that she wet herself.

"Quiet!" Tang Zheng released an antigravity power, stopping the elevator, then smashed through the wall in front of the door and jumped into the corridor, followed by an onslaught of bullets.

Two squads blocked both sides of the corridor, firing at Tang Zheng while calling their teammates for backup.

The communicator was filled with chaotic voices; this was a well-prepared ambush by the Giant Soldiers that yielded significant results.

"Why did these guys get here so fast?" Ai Yixin underwent diamond transformation and charged into the corridor, suppressing the Giant Soldiers with her rifle.

"There’s only one possibility." Lu Fan said half a sentence, then extended his left hand, sending out sand stored in Alice’s apron that flooded the entire corridor like a tsunami.

Boom, the sand carried the Giant Soldiers and broke through the walls, pouring into an office.

"Break the floor and come down to join the tough guy," Tang Zheng shouted into the communicator, firing at the floor before jumping down. As expected, he also saw the Giant Soldiers in the process of moving.

They were obviously ambushed on this level and had left after hearing the backup command. However, the noise of Tang Zheng’s descent alarmed them, and these guys immediately turned around to attack.

Bullets fired toward Tang Zheng were stopped right in front of him, then rebounded with gravity and shot back. The Giant Soldiers were hit, but their protective gear suffered little damage, allowing them to continue the fight.

Tang Zheng, holding the Queen’s Roar, named his enemies with headshot after headshot, leaving a trail of headless corpses and a thick scent of blood in the corridor.

After half of the Giant Soldiers died, the survivors suddenly took out a syringe and inserted it into their necks, injecting green liquid into their veins. (To be continued.
