Chapter 1454: Chapter 43: Danger Everywhere
Above the Square Garden, the intensity of the battle was rising. As the Conquerors exerted their force, Plague Lords continued to fall, but even more emerged through the Teleportation Gate, catapulting onto the Battlefield.
Those below Third-order could only protect themselves, hardly able to contribute much, but luckily, there were plenty of Heroes. As the power of the Conquerors grew, the games they were subjected to became increasingly difficult. The encountered Trojan Squads were also of similar strength; this was for balance.
However, for Conquerors whose power burgeoned slowly, this was disadvantageous because there was almost no time left for them to adapt and improve. If they didn’t grow stronger, they could only die. As for each battle’s Newbies, they were merely an addition. On average, one potential teammate could be selected out of every three matches, which was already quite good.
There was no fairness in this world. Instead of cursing fate and others, it’s better to risk your life and fight for it!
Of course, the Newbies and lower-tier Conquerors of the Warhammer Team were undoubtedly lucky. Without Tang Zheng, their situation would certainly be much more miserable.
For instance, at this moment, even the other two Teams had no choice but to take refuge and, by Tang Zheng’s command, begin to unleash Full firepower.
"What is the colonel thinking? Is he blind?" The female anchor complained. High-level Demons had approached the City Hall for battle, and even if they were blind as dogs, they could still hear the unique roar of the demonic language.
"Could it be a tactic to deplete our strength? Then, when the battle becomes a stalemate, they will deploy the Reserve Team to end it decisively?" Dong Zixuan’s thoughts were overly simplistic and idealistic.
"I would rather it be that way." Dantai took a glance at the Lobby. Based on the layout, his keen eyesight allowed him to see the situation inside the Command Center.
At this moment, the colonel was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with his hands behind his back, watching the battle below. Behind him stood a Team of Space Soldiers in Power Armor.
Tang Zheng and company, due to resting, were only wearing Combat Suits. The cumbersome Power Armor was all stored in another room, but now there was no time to retrieve them.
"Humans and Demons are mortal enemies. They have no reason to stand idly by, right?" Fu Tianxiao chatted with Tang Zheng, hoping that through communication, they could improve their relationship.
Abruptly, Dantai raised the muzzle of his Gun and shot towards the Command Center, shattering the floor-to-ceiling window.
The Space Soldiers were shocked, they stepped up to protect the colonel and unfolded the Energy Shield.
"Don’t worry, he didn’t intend to attack me!" The colonel watched the Explosive arrow lodge into the ceiling, his eyes flickering with confusion.
"Why would His Majesty issue an emergency command ordering us to kill these Humans even if it means losing the Fortress?" A Soldier questioned, feeling that the king must have lost his senses to issue such an unreliable order. From the actions of the other side, they did not seem to be bad people.
"That’s what I want to know too," the colonel sighed, struggling internally. The Fortress housed tens of thousands of civilians; were they to be forsaken to the Green Skins?
Having witnessed the power of these invaders, the colonel understood that defeating them was nearly an impossible dream. Instead, by diverting forces, the Fortress might fall to the Green Skins.
"These people are so strong. They killed so many Plague Lords without heavy weaponry. They’re formidable adversaries!"
"The Defense Force has never feared any strong adversary, not even the Blood God. We’ll kill them and show you!" Some Soldiers roared, loyal to the king and eager to engage in battle. "Colonel, let us attack. Just give us ten minutes, and we can annihilate them."
"Wait a bit longer. When they are both severely weakened by the combat with the Demons, didn’t the king say he sent the Blood Crow Legion? Then we can settle it with a single blow and prevent these guys from escaping." The deputy Captain was more intelligent, and his strategy was more Treacherous.
Silence fell in the Command Center, only the heavy breathing remained, as the Soldiers eyed the fight in the Square Garden, collecting intelligence. For the Conquerors, their strength might only be that of average 2nd tier heroes, but their rich combat Experience was surely incomparable to types like Ruan Feifei.
Each Space Soldier has slain at least tens of thousands of lives.
The battle was fierce, but the Conquerors had gained control of the situation with no fatalities. However, the Newbies, if not careful, could be killed. By now, less than thirty remained.
"Move aside!" The mascara-wearing woman frantically pushed and shoved, blending into the crowd, attempting to use others as Meat Shields.
The Plague Lord bolted towards the crowd, and when it hit the ground, it was like the impact of a Heavy Cannon, with stone shrapnel scattering about. Conquerors dodged the debris, causing the Newbies’ formation to break apart, anxiously getting closer to them.
The Impure and Bloodthirsty Demons swarmed in; though many were beheaded, the frontlines were breached like a gap in teeth, but the threat remained significant.
"Bi Yun, Liang Mao, Tao Ran, you three go kill the lesser foes!" Dantai commanded, taking the Blame off Tang Zheng, allowing him to focus on attacking.
Tang Zheng drew the general’s sword, beheading the Plague Lord, leaving behind more than thirty heaps of rotten flesh.
Surveying the Battlefield, Tang Zheng’s kill count was first, his terrifying and efficient attack power astonishing.
"His power can definitely rank in the top three among 2nd tier heroes." Yue Jing sighed, beaten until he had lost the will to compete.
"First, I guess?" Fu Tianxiao felt that Tang Zheng was stronger than Yue Jing. Confronted with trouble, the Group Leader thought of escaping, but Tang Zheng was even more resolute.
Everyone nodded, but Li Zheng disagreed.
"If I had Weapons, I wouldn’t be worse than him." From behind Li Zheng, the Sphere that had initially opened only one eye was now emitting Light beams as two more eyes opened, and the beams began to sweep continuously.
The parts of the Plague Lord struck by the beams turned black and vaporized, presenting signs of necrosis.
"Li Zheng!" Wang Fang complained; she wasn’t criticizing her boyfriend for boasting, but she didn’t want him to go all out because of a competitive dispute.
The Conquerors could all tell that Tang Zheng’s abilities were too comprehensive. In a situation without using equipment, those generals with the Gravity Well could completely overwhelm any opponent of the same level—too difficult to deal with.
"He has unleashed quite a few ultimate abilities today, why doesn’t he look tired?" Kevo secretly observed Tang Zheng, unable to fathom his limits. He had estimated it based on twice the Life Energy of a 2nd tier hero, but the opponent’s performance exceeded even his highest assessment.
"Is this guy a Blood Bull?" Jiang Xiuming, blending into the crowd, also found it strange, "Could he have used the Fire Seed? Or perhaps a Prop that Trojan didn’t manage to collect?"
The number of Plague Lords had diminished, and a few Teleportation Gates had also closed. The Blood God summoning servants through teleportation also consumes divine power and wouldn’t last.
"It’s time to make a move, otherwise they will kill all the Demons and leave." Those eager for battle once again asked the colonel to fight, "Even with just us, we can annihilate them."
The colonel was silent.
The Eavesdropping Device that Tang Zheng had placed in the Command Center worked. Every word of the colonel’s party fell into their ears,
"Be careful, the space soldiers are about to take action!" Dantai warned.
"Why does that king want to kill us?" Xu Biyun didn’t understand, "We have no grudge?"
"You should ask the king." Ruan Feifei still had the strength to speak, trying to display the poise of a strong person.
"Troubles come one after another, I hope that Blood Crow Legion arrives later." Li Huiwen interjected, attempting to blend in with the Team.
Xu Liangmao didn’t like this but couldn’t control his wife.
"Should we tell Yue Jing?" Ruan Feifei felt they could secretly play them, take their Space Wristwatches as Spoils of War. These people with poor conduct didn’t deserve moral consideration.
"Tell them." Tang Zheng didn’t hesitate. There was still an hour before midnight, and changes might occur; he needed more survivors to divert the enemy’s attention.
Beep, beep, the Communicator of the space soldiers rang, hinting that the Blood Crow Legion had entered pre-set orbit, ready to dive-bomb at any moment.
"The king’s orders are supreme; go to battle now!" The colonel waved his hand, and the Soldiers stood at attention collectively, then they jumped out of the floor-to-ceiling window, activating their Thrusters and flew towards the Battlefield.
In outer Space, battlecruisers released egg-shaped Landing Pods. Relying on gravity for acceleration, they penetrated the atmosphere, flames fanned by the burning coolant trailing behind like tails, making them appear as beautiful as Meteors.
"They really came!" Warned by Dantai, Fu Tianxiao exclaimed in surprise, wanting to attack in advance.
"Ceasefire, wait for my command to Shoot. With their Experience, they will certainly attack the Demons first, then pretend to support us and launch a sneak attack when we let our guard down." Dantai explained, not wanting the impatient individuals to mess things up.
"Sorry, we’re late."
Sure enough, the space soldiers opened fire on the Demons and apologized, masking their true intentions.
"Look at the Night Sky!" Wang Fang yelled, and everyone looked up, only to see over a hundred ’Meteors’ falling towards the Square.
None of the survivors found it beautiful, for they knew that each ’Meteor’ carried formidable space soldiers.
"Why did they come so late?" Tang Zheng deliberately questioned in anger to lower their vigilance.
The space soldiers had no time to answer, as the Landing Pods had arrived. The bottom Thrusters opened, reducing the speed from the gravitational descent, and with a bang, landed on the Square.
Hiss, the Hatch opened, and fully armed space soldiers were about to rush out and eliminate all enemies.
"Attack!" Dantai quickly allocated targets with rapid speech, followed by a loud shout, signaling the beginning of a general offensive.
Life and death at stake, no one dared to hold back anymore; Full firepower ensued.
A dazzling array of skills bombarded the Landing Pods, and the first wave of space soldiers just stepped out was swept away.
Boom, boom—in waves of explosions, soon blending into one roar, the Landing Pods were blown apart, Metal Fragments flying chaotically.
Dantai’s chosen attack timing was impeccable; the space soldiers didn’t even manage to form up before receiving a devastating blow.
Lightning zipped between the Landing Pods, sparks burst, flagstones cracked, and scorching Magma flowed out, bathing them.
Kevo extended a finger, and dozens of white lights, like guided arrows, struck precisely into those Landing ships, dazzling their eyes.
Li Zheng’s Sphere also hovered overhead, sweeping 360-degree Light beams that sheared through the Landing Pods, leaving only molten edges where they passed.
Yue Jing originally wanted to strike invisibly, but the wide Range attacks from his own team were so Sharp that he stopped in shock. (To be continued.
