Chapter 1401: Chapter 65: Entering the City

The aboriginal’s corpse, because of various disease effects, showed obvious signs of decay, and a foul stench wafted through the air, with flies even beginning to settle upon it.

Cough, cough—the man who could teleport felt discomfort in his lungs and began coughing. Liu Hang also felt a chill running through his body, as if he had caught a cold. If he were an ordinary person, he would’ve been weakly lying on the ground by now.

"No need, I can manage on my own," Mirene remembered her sister’s words and didn’t want to travel with these strangers.

"What nationality do you think she is? She does have a pretty face," Zhao Haixing clenched his fist, wanting to kill her. He had been in the game for a while now and realized he had never killed a child, which seemed like a stain on his record.

"British," Tang Zheng pulled along Gu Xueqi and then nudged Pan Hui’s waist.

The perplexed gaze of the young woman fell upon him, and she saw Tang Zheng motioning behind them to stay away from the teleporting man. Although she didn’t understand, she complied.

"How do you know that?" Zhao Haixing didn’t believe him, "Hey, little girl, what’s your nationality?"

"Hmph, I hate your attitude," Mirene didn’t answer, but unfortunately, she couldn’t resist the provocation from the long-haired woman.

"Clearly she’s German—look at the color of her hair."

"You’re the old-fashioned German. I’m British, a purebred noble, okay?" Mirene gave the long-haired woman a disdainful glance, mocking her lack of discernment.

The newbies all looked toward Tang Zheng, who had just spoken, and everyone had heard him.

"No, you must be guessing," Zhao Haixing was unwilling to let Tang Zheng steal the limelight and disparaged him.

"Guessing what? Can’t you hear the unmistakable London accent?" Even Gu Xueqi couldn’t stand to watch any longer; Zhao Haixing was truly foolish and overestimated his abilities.

"If you’re all done, I’m leaving," Mirene stated decisively, intending to depart.

"Wait, you can go, but first you need to cure them," Tang Zheng didn’t mean to trouble the little girl; he just wanted to know her ability. Wandering alone in the dense forest without a scratch, she was at least a third-order.

"Us? We’re fine," the teleporting man coughed, not understanding Tang Zheng’s implication.

Li Kelun and Xiang Ning also sensed something amiss and, for safety, kept their distance from the others.

"Big brother, you’re very observant, huh? Alright, I did tamper with them," Mirene never deigned to lie, even if her words might provoke an attack. Fearless, she stood her ground.

"You’re asking for it!" The teleporting man got angry, but Liu Hang stopped him, "What exactly did you do to us?"

"Nothing much, just made them contract a few incurable diseases. Given the Conquerors’ constitution, they should live for about three more days," Mirene commented as casually as if she were sipping red tea.

"Cure them," Li Kelun snapped his fingers, and a large tree next to Mirene exploded, splitting in two, with branches scattering everywhere.

"No, I hate being threatened the most," Mirene pouted, then stuck her surgical knife into the soil, "If you want to fight, bring it on. I’m not afraid of you all."

Life and death at stake, the teleporting man and Liu Hang were about to take action, and Li Kelun also got ready to capture the little Lolita.

"Wait, who told you to start anything? Bullying a child is rather shameful, isn’t it?" Tang Zheng advised loudly, though in reality, it was for Little Lolita’s benefit. He had no real rapport with the teleporting man and Liu Hang, as if it would be strange for them to listen to him.

Tang Zheng had initially planned to take the chance to observe Little Lolita further, but to his surprise, the teleporting man really stopped and even took the opportunity to hold back Liu Hang.

"What are you doing?" Liu Hang was dissatisfied.

"Tang Zheng, what do you have to say?" The teleporting man spotted the Tyrannosaurus Protective Clothing peeking out from Mirene’s collar, felt wary, and since Tang Zheng had been the first to spot the clues, he wanted to question him.

"My dear miss, are you lost?" Tang Zheng changed the subject, causing Liu Hang’s anger to rise, with Pan Hui also unable to grasp what he was up to.

"You’re the one who’s lost! It was they who strayed away," Mirene’s embarrassed demeanor revealed her thoughts.

"Okay, I can be your guide, help you find your companions. In return, will you heal them?" Tang Zheng offered with a hearty smile, his eight white teeth lending an air of natural charm.

Mirene hesitated. With her own terrible sense of direction, she feared she might walk for a year and still not find her sister.

"If you’re so powerful, surely you’re not worried about them attacking you, are you?" Tang Zheng didn’t say things like ’I will help you,’ knowing Mirene was that type of proud little girl. Saying the wrong thing could backfire.

"Hmph, of course, all of you come at once, I’m not afraid," Mirene held her chin up high and then assessed Tang Zheng, "Eh, did I just hear them call you Tang Zheng?"

"Yes!" Tang Zheng placed his right hand on his chest and bowed slightly in a gentlemanly manner, using British customs to gradually improve the little Lolita’s opinion of him, "You know me?"

"I don’t!" Little Lolita shook her head but was inwardly snickering with a mischievous thought.

"I’ll steal your uncle away and see how you can compete with me," Mirene recalled the detestable Lu Fan, who had never been bested by her since childhood, leading to her strong resentment towards Fanfan.

Mirene’s actions were entirely those of childish conflict, similar to snatching a beloved toy from someone else to make them cry.

"Have you ever seen a little Lolita about your age?" Tang Zheng was too cautious. Although Mirene denied it, he still spotted a flaw; why else would she react to her own name?

"No." The disgust on Mirene’s face was enough to show that she knew Lu Fan’s whereabouts.

"When did you see them?" Tang Zheng smiled. "Lying isn’t what good children do!"

"Yesterday, you’re as cunning as my sister, big brother," Mirene reminded herself that she was a lady and shouldn’t lie, but she was frustrated that this man was as clever as her sister and couldn’t be fooled.

"Who is your sister?" Seeing the girl’s lack of sense of direction, Tang Zheng abandoned the idea of having her lead him to Qin Yan. Instead, he began to inquire about her family. Besides gathering intelligence, this would also help narrow the distance between them. He could tell that despite her verbal dissatisfaction, the girl greatly admired her sister.

"Elizabeth." Mirene puffed up her chest with pride. "If you bully me, she will kill all of you."

The survivors didn’t care about Little Lolita’s threat and instead looked toward Tang Zheng, impressed by how swiftly and skillfully he extracted a lot of information with just a few questions.

"Isn’t your observation too detailed?" Pan Hui was beyond impressed, noting how quickly Tang Zheng figured out Mirene’s personality and made use of her.

"Treat them, and I’ll keep my word and take you to see your sister," Tang Zheng pointed to his wristwatch. "You must have heard the announcement, too. Don’t cause trouble for your sister and make her worry about you."

This time Mirene didn’t refuse, walking over to Liu Hang and the others and pricking a small cut with a surgical knife.

"That’s it?" Liu Hang, blind to the large amount of plague flowing out of his body, watched it gather on the blade’s edge.

"A 3S weapon?" The woman with long hair was astounded to see the surgical knife effortlessly cutting through the protective clothing after a scan revealed terrifying feedback.

"The Hand of Akmond?" Zhao Haixing’s eyes were filled with greed and murderous intent.

"Hey, didn’t you hear what I just said?" Tang Zheng stepped in front of Mirene. "Anyone who tries anything, don’t blame me for being impolite."

"You’re actually helping a foreigner? Traitor!" Zhao Haixing immediately labeled Tang Zheng.

"Idiots." Li Kelun and Xiang Ning muttered under their breath. Tang Zheng was clearly acting, how could you not see it?

The team moved forward again. Children are naturally wary of strangers, but once their guard is down, they open up, especially when Tang Zheng was the only one being kind to her.

With Tang Zheng’s skill, winning over a little girl was a piece of cake, and since Mirene also wanted to snatch him up, their relationship heated up swiftly. Unknowingly, she ended up spilling a lot of secrets.

"The Blade Empress? Sounds powerful!"

"Of course, she’s a Hero Tier 3, number one in the European region!" Mirene added to herself, "That old German doesn’t count."

Li Kelun’s expression grew solemn. To them, a Third-order fearless fighter was like an immense boulder pressing down on their hearts. Xiang Ning kept glancing at Mirene, planning to use her to their advantage.

As Trojan Squad approached Golden City, they encountered more Aboriginals and frequent attacks. Liu Hang and the others couldn’t solve the problem with guns anymore and had to constantly use their abilities.

Tang Zheng was an exception; his bullets had been infused with Phoenix Power by the school beauty, making them exceptionally effective at breaching defenses. He even had the spare energy to cover for Mirene.

"I don’t need your help. I can fight," Mirene declared, not wanting to be looked down upon, and sent out a Teddy Bear. After all, she was a child and didn’t have much combat experience.

"Okay, you can have that Teddy Bear guard the outside and take down any that slip through." Since the Teddy Bear had been summoned already, not using it would be a waste, and Tang Zheng could use the break.

Gu Xueqi was only adding her ability to the bullets and was doing so with ease.

"Can’t you give someone a hand?" Zhao Haixing huffed and panted heavily, glaring at Tang Zheng. The other’s ability to sustain combat was strong, which meant he would last longer in survival, causing Zhao envy.

"I’ve completed my defensive task," Tang Zheng shrugged, "Instead of questioning me, you should be thinking of ways to improve your combat efficiency."

Li Kelun couldn’t help; Tang Zheng’s war results were equivalent to three Conquerors. Asking him to do more work seemed unreasonable.

The team’s mood became discordant, but they finally found Golden City according to the map.

The city, hidden within the rainforest, was half-collapsed, overgrown with vines and vegetation, and completely green. Xiang Ning shot a bullet at the wall, and the whole stone brick crumbled to dust.

"The city is large, and it seems no one has been here yet." Xiang Ning grabbed two newbies, "You go in first."

The squad entered the city through a breach, and once they disappeared, a man in a Lucky suit got up. He wrote a string of Alphabets in the air, which then coalesced into a black bird that took flight.

The man followed suit, continuing the surveillance.

Standing in a square of Golden City, the team searched around to decide which route to take. Suddenly, statues scattered around began to twist and came to life, launching an assault on them.
