Chapter 1399: Chapter 63 Golden City_2
"I’m sorry, but as far as I know, that Boss is a puppet leader, the deputy group leader, and the real number one player from the China Region is unknown to anyone outside our team."
Xiang Ning suddenly thought of a possibility. She was sharing well-known information at the Hero level to gauge Tang Zheng’s reaction. If what he said about the number of Conquerors was true, then it’s likely his team was the top team in the China Region, because she couldn’t think of any other reason for his strength.
Li Kelun also seemed to have considered this possibility, his expression turned a bit more cautious.
"How did you guys remove the restrictions on your wristwatches? By killing monsters?" Tang Zheng still didn’t realize he was being considered as a member of the top player’s team, but he could clearly sense a subtle change in Li Kelun and Xiang Ning’s eyes.
"Killing monsters, you don’t even know this?" Zhao Haixing wanted to mock him some more, but Li Kelun snapped at him.
"Shut up and eat." Although Li Kelun was gay, he didn’t necessarily fancy Zhao Haixing. The kid was just one of his playthings.
After a simple breakfast, Trojan Squad set off once more. Since there was no announcement, Li Kelun decided to proceed with the original plan and head towards Golden City.
Javier was very cooperative, pulling out a map he had been collecting for over a decade. In fact, after seeing the Natives and these non-human fellows, he had given up on treasure hunting; they wouldn’t let him leave, needing his knowledge of Golden City to serve as a guide.
"How many days have you been in the game? When is the next Punishment squad due, they come every three days, right?" Tang Zheng walked over to Pan Hui and started a conversation with her.
"This is the sixth day. If it’s coming, it should be tonight." Pan Hui wasn’t combat-oriented and she hated fighting. If Li Kelun and Xiang Ning didn’t help her, her chances of dying were high. "Will you protect me?"
The two of them were positioned in the rear two thirds of the team, and Pan Hui didn’t care about the opinions of the newbies following them, who were destined to die, as she reached for Tang Zheng’s crotch.
Tang Zheng, of course, didn’t hold back, grabbing her plump buttocks in return, squeezing them hard.
"Aren’t you carrying two travel bags heavy? They must weigh over a hundred pounds, right?" Pan Hui eyed Tang Zheng’s muscular figure wrapped in a tight outfit and smiled, "Do you want me to carry one for you?"
After all, Li Kelun was a power player at the Hero level and had a few spare Space Wristwatches to woo team members.
"No, thanks." Tang Zheng declined.
"Carrying all that stuff could hinder your combat abilities, right?" Pan Hui was very eager to take Tang Zheng’s backpack, intentionally pressing her chest against him, and of course, it wasn’t without cost.
"Bastards!" The newbies behind them cursed the two, wishing they would stumble and fall.
Hiss, when the newbies were distracted, a python thicker than a sedan suddenly burst through the bushes, hissing with a huge red tongue, biting at a newbie.
Suddenly attacked, the newbies were so frightened they practically wet themselves, frantically trying to dodge.
Pan Hui grabbed his backpack and hid behind him, the python’s green, slimy scales turning her pale, and she even forgot to raise her gun.
The python was too large, and the newbies hadn’t even considered combat; the Conquerors certainly weren’t about to waste Life Energy on such a thing. As they worked the gun bolts, the gunshots were already ringing out.
Gu Xueqi was in front of Pan Hui and, hearing the noise, turned around to face the attacking python. Without retreating, she calmly lifted her AK74 and chambered a round with a pull of the bolt.
Ratatat, firing in bursts, the bullets hit the python’s wide-open mouth. Tang Zheng’s speed was even quicker than the school beauty’s, and by the time Zhao Haixing had his rifle ready, Tang Zheng had already emptied a clip, hitting the python’s weak spots with every bullet.
"Amazing!" Li Kelun and Xiang Ning exchanged looks and had to admit that these two had exceptionally quick reflexes.
The python’s hide was thick, and these few bullets couldn’t harm it. Tang Zheng didn’t bother to reload but instead reached into his backpack, pulled out a bundle of Cluster Hand Grenades, pulled the pins, waited two seconds, and threw it into the python’s mouth.
The python swallowed the newbie’s upper half, its enormous bite force cutting him in two, then, with its mouth full of fresh blood, it lunged at Tang Zheng.
The Cluster Hand Grenade flew and landed in the belly of the Python, exploding with a thunderous blast.
The Python’s body, six inches below its head, bulged from the shockwave, and part of it ruptured. The Python didn’t die, but the heavy damage drove it mad; it writhed non-stop, even snapping a large tree, thick enough to require two people to wrap their arms around, in half.
Li Kelun hated trouble. Seeing that Tang Zheng had no intention of using his ability, he stretched out his right hand and snapped his fingers three times in succession.
Explosions began to chain-react on the Python’s body; inch by inch, scales and chunks of flesh were blasted off, and blood rained down like a torrent, splattering around.
"That’s a very strange ability," Tang Zheng said as he led Gu Xueqi and Pan Hui out of the area. They had no interest in the Python’s corpse.
"Toys, please pay attention, because a certain fearless one has killed the second BOSS, the third-order mission is activated. Please kill the Undead at the Altar in the center of the Golden City within three days. Fail to comply within the time limit, and erasure punishment will be given!"
"The Trojan will determine the game outcome according to each team’s contribution. The last-placed team will be entirely wiped out, and half of the penultimate team will be erased."
Everyone perked their ears and listened intently, afraid to miss even a single word, then the voice of the Trojan faded into the vast rainforest.
"That’s so annoying, another one of those vague tasks. Where’s the map? We don’t even know where the Golden City is," Zhao Haixing complained loudly as he sprayed bullets deep into the jungle to vent his frustration.
"Fortunately, we still have Javier," said Xiang Ning, quite calm. It was a basic quality of the strong.
"Can you guarantee that everything he says is accurate? What if he’s wrong, and we all die?" Zhao Haixing didn’t want to bet his fate on such a person; the unknown dangers drove him crazy.
Tang Zheng was worried about Qin Yan’s team. Without Javier, how would they find the Golden City? And he was also concerned about the one who had killed the BOSS.
"Damn it, Mirene hates jungles!" The blonde loli struggled hard on her trek; she had gotten lost again. The thicket scratched her favorite dress, which saddened her. But upon hearing the announcement, she immediately cheered up.
"It must be sister!" Mirene guessed correctly. The Blade Empress, for the safety of her sister, was rampaging through indigenous settlements to push through the game as quickly as possible.
Some Indigenous People scattered after being struck by the Blade Empress, which also prompted more of them to band together to defend against the foreign invaders.
It was destined to be a road filled with blood and corpses. At noon, the team began to encounter Natives, these primitive hunters taking advantage of the terrain to launch wild attacks on the outsiders, a battle strategy of mutual demise.
These guys had tough skin; bullets and knives left only minor wounds, nowhere near fatal, and with their strong defense power, they managed to press closer to the team with each assault.
Swoosh, a volley of Javelins flew at them, forcing the newbies to dodge in a flustered state. Just when they thought it was safe, a flurry of Blow Darts followed, and the newbies who were hit collapsed immediately; these were Silver Needles tainted with potent poison that once in contact with blood, would immediately coagulate it.
Pressing on to this point, eleven newbies had already fallen, and the team’s morale plummeted.
"Be careful, they’re charging!" Xiang Ning shouted a warning to everyone. The Indigenous People’s assault was well-ordered, following the javelins and poison needles with a charge.
As expected, Natives painted in colorful patterns howled as they rushed into battle.
Ratatat, Tang Zheng held his Rifle, firing accurate single shots. The Natives dropped like dumplings, thudding to the ground. In the direction he was guarding, the Natives would be wiped out before they even reached him.
The Natives’ skin was indeed tough, but their eyes weren’t so well-protected. Faced with a marksman as terrifying as Tang Zheng, they had no chance but to perish.
Tang Zheng’s killing efficiency was too terrifying; even Li Kelun was outmatched. After gaining his ability, he seldom used gunpowder weapons anymore and was somewhat less talented in that regard compared to Tang Zheng.
Zhao Haixing and Liu Hang were dumbfounded by Tang Zheng’s performance. Only in times of crisis could one truly see how strong a person was—Tang Zheng’s skill completely surpassed theirs.
