Chapter 1381: Chapter 49: The Fierce Strength of the Group Leader_3

"He’s not dead, that’s good!" Tang Zheng extended his index finger, placing it on Gu Xueqi’s nose, felt her breath, and sighed in relief before he started to rifle through the pouch the native had strapped to his waist.

Tang Zheng found some poison needles and some black dried-up grass cakes, which he guessed were the antidote for the poison. Common sense suggested that the natives would carry something to counteract the poison, given the risk of accidental self-poisoning.

"How about it? Can it be cured?" Tang Zheng dared not let Gu Xueqi consume these items without caution. He called upon Daylily to heal her, "If it doesn’t work, I’ll capture a captive to experiment!"

"It’s a piece of cake!" Daylily shot a halo towards Gu Xueqi, and then suddenly tore open the collar of the nurse uniform, "But isn’t it hot here?"

Half of Daylily’s pale chest was exposed, glistening with sweat and quite tempting.

"Where are your teammates?" Daylily shamelessly lifted her nurse skirt to her waist, revealing two long pale legs, and was about to take off the thong.

"Stop, what are you doing?" Tang Zheng frowned, "There are many poisonous insects in the jungle, do you want to die?"

"I won’t die!" Daylily shrugged her shoulders, hooked her finger on the underwear, and twirled it with a mischievous smile, "Don’t send me back yet, it’s not healed."

Tang Zheng couldn’t care less about Daylily’s explanation, so he canceled the summoning.

Picking up Gu Xueqi, Tang Zheng twisted some vines and climbed a large tree.

"What happened to me?" Gu Xueqi, dizzy, suddenly exclaimed in alarm, "Be careful, there are natives!"

Gu Xueqi had been ambushed earlier, and although she was hit, she had seen what the enemy looked like.

"It’s alright now, you rest here; I’m going to capture a few captives." Since Trojan didn’t give any notification, he’d find the clues himself.

"Mm!" Feeling the pain on her face, Gu Xueqi knew she must be in a bad state. If it were not for Tang Zheng, she would certainly be dead, "Thank you."

"I’m the group leader; it’s what I should do. No need to thank me!" Tang Zheng jumped down and quietly stalked the natives from behind.

As Tang Zheng and the natives switched their positions of attack and defense, despite his severe injuries, he was still a 2nd tier hero and had no difficulty in massacring them.

Approaching the natives from behind, before they could sound the alarm, Tang Zheng covered one of their mouths with one hand, and his short knife slit their throat.

The assassination was silent and swift, and Tang Zheng’s kill count climbed. But soon the natives noticed something was amiss and began to attack him, though there were fewer than six left.

Tang Zheng had anticipated this step; he left no survivors that could speak later. This time he held back and knocked out two of them.

The battle ended swiftly, Tang Zheng dragged the two captives and met up with Gu Xueqi. They left the area to prevent the enemy from finding them.

As the sky darkened, Tang Zheng kindled a campfire, warding off wild beasts and poisonous insects, no longer able to worry about being discovered by the natives.

"Want to practice interrogation?" Seeing Gu Xueqi hugging her knees and looking desolate, Tang Zheng knew she was still blaming herself. This girl was too strong-willed.

"Mm!" Gu Xueqi didn’t refuse, but walked to the vine-bound, unconscious native and wasn’t sure what to do.

"Stab with a knife!" Tang Zheng was roasting a Big Bird, the scent of meat filling the air.

"I lost my folding knife!" Gu Xueqi felt uneasy, ashamed, and on the verge of tears. She knew she owed Tang Zheng her life again; without him, the natives would have caught her and she could only guess at her gruesome end.

"We’re a team; don’t always think you have to handle everything yourself!" Tang Zheng, rarely taking the time to educate team members, tossed a short knife to Gu Xueqi, "Use this."

Gu Xueqi, no longer hesitating, grabbed the short knife and directly slashed the native’s face.

The native woke up, stuck out his neck, and roared at Gu Xueqi.

"Shut up!" Gu Xueqi continued to hit him with the back of the knife, "Tell me, have you seen other outsiders similar to us?"

"Your question is direct, certainly better than asking why they attacked us. But it’s best to start with something simple!" Tang Zheng liked a gradual approach, using easy questions to start a dialogue, which could also reduce the opponent’s defense and create a momentum.

Gu Xueqi nodded, putting the short knife to the native’s neck, "How many people are in your tribe?"

The native jabbered rapidly, spitting out a string of language that neither of them could understand. However, Tang Zheng and Gu Xueqi, both of them meticulous thinkers, were not discouraged and thought of a way to deal with it.

"How many people like me have you seen?" Gu Xueqi used sign language to communicate with the native.

Tang Zheng wouldn’t bother with such trivial matters, thinking about how to proceed the next day.

"If Trojan doesn’t send any notifications, then we’ll find the natives’ tribe and wipe them out. According to Trojan’s usual behavior, this operation should be related to them," said Tang Zheng, as he watched the Big Bird roast to a golden brown and called Gu Xueqi over to eat, "I’ll take the first watch of the night."

Tang Zheng, munching on a bird wing, and holding a short knife, walked up to the natives and slashed a few times at their ankles.

Gu Xueqi thought Tang Zheng was preventing the natives from running away and didn’t pay much attention. However, when she woke up in the middle of the night, she found Tang Zheng asleep, and the natives were nowhere to be seen.

"Damn, get up, the captives have escaped!" Gu Xueqi nudged Tang Zheng. She didn’t blame the group leader, but blamed herself, "Tang Zheng must have been really tired; I shouldn’t have let him stand watch, it’s all my fault."

"Don’t blame yourself, I let them go on purpose," Tang Zheng sat up, checked his wristwatch, "No rush, they’ve been gone for less than five minutes; we can catch up."

Gu Xueqi was speechless, suddenly realizing she still hadn’t seen through his strength.

"Even without proper communication, we can still gather information," Tang Zheng did a kip-up, stood up stretching, "Let’s go, time to hunt!"

Listening to Tang Zheng’s commanding declaration and seeing his resolute, broad back, Gu Xueqi suddenly felt nothing was too frightening.

The two lucky surviving natives didn’t hesitate and ran towards the tribal gathering area, ready to call for people to take revenge.

"Are they really that slow?" Gu Xueqi initially worried about losing them, but after ten minutes, she heard the noise the natives made as they passed through the jungle, "Right, Tang Zheng injured their ankles; it wasn’t a punishment but to slow them down, making it easy to track them!"
