Chapter 1333: Chapter 9 Overwhelm
The Chinese Restaurant was a complete mess, the stench of blood pervasive. The waiters all reverted to their alien forms and began attacking the survivors.
Extended as an angel of death, alloy armor draped over Pang Meiqin’s body. She drew her Ripper and slashed at the neck of the oncoming alien, accompanied by a foul wind.
Hissing from its throat, the alien stretched out its right leg and with a hefty kick, deflected the Ripper toward the ceiling. Without pausing, it ricocheted towards the newbies. Sensing the mighty strength of the Beautiful Leg Stewardess, it decisively changed its target.
With Hell’s Song in one hand, Pang Meiqin fired bullets wrapped in a red halo, pursuing the alien and riddling the ceiling with a string of large holes as debris scattered everywhere.
Bang—the alien’s left leg was struck, blood splattered, and it fell. Pang Meiqin fired again, turning it into shredded flesh.
Lu Fan, wielding White Ivory and Ebony Incense, blasted at the aliens, trying to suppress them. But they were too fast and plunged into the crowd in an instant, preventing the Conquerors from attacking full force, lest they hurt bystanders.
"Attack! Every Conqueror takes one; stop those aliens!" After Lin Weiguo retreated to the kitchen, Pang Meiqin being the most experienced, if not for reserving enough newbie Cannon Fodder for Tang Zheng, she couldn’t care less about giving orders.
Pang Meiqin’s call for action was weak, and aside from Xu Biyun who glanced at her and summoned a puppet, everyone else was fighting their own battles, not taking her seriously at all.
Pang Meiqin bit her lip, nearly dying of anger.
Lin Weiguo armed his Iron Hellfire. Both hands aimed at the Chef, firing Impact Beams. Blasts that resembled military knives sent Debris flying everywhere.
All three newbies who followed the Old Soldier were killed, and then the big fish extended two forelegs, skittering towards Shen Qingshuang like a crawling creature, its steel-like Teeth biting down hard on the cutting board and tearing off a sizeable chunk.
Shen Qingshuang, with a Heavy Gravity Gun, fired ruthlessly, the black Gravity Balls hitting the big fish for the most part. Its scales shot off in all directions, flesh mired on its surface, enraging it further into violent frenzy.
The Chef leaped up, aiming for Lin Weiguo, his gaping mouth tried to bite at his Neck, but the hard Teeth clashed with the armor, sparking significantly.
The Old Soldier embraced the Chef, his chest-mounted Energy Cannon gathering power and firing, directly vaporizing half of the Chef’s torso. The charred, severed legs fell to the ground, and the Old Soldier tossed aside the Chef’s upper body and advanced on the other cooks.
"We’re here, right ahead!" Xin Lan, who was driving, had just finished speaking when she hit the brakes. The tires ceased spinning, screaming with the screech of friction and burnt rubber smell. After a skid, the car stopped perfectly in front of the Chinese Restaurant.
A steel gate came down, blocking everyone’s view, but the sounds of banging could still be heard, even seeing the gate bulging suddenly, obviously someone unlucky was smashed against it.
Tang Zheng flung open the car door and sprang out, swinging his Storm Hammer with force.
Boom—a whirl of the Warhammer smashed on the pressed door, tearing a large hole, then flew back. Tang Zheng caught it in his hand and burst into the restaurant through the breach.
Qin Yan and Mu Nianqi followed close behind, the former already gripping her Magic Spear Thorn. As soon as she squeezed through the Iron Gate, she saw an alien pouncing on a Sanitation Worker. Without hesitation, she threw her spear.
Thud—the Magic Spear pierced the alien’s chest, pinning it to the Wall, but the Alien didn’t die; it struggled violently, trying to yank out the spear.
"Die!" Tang Zheng swung the Warhammer, blowing up the alien’s head and, with a swift move, appeared before another alien, throwing an uppercut at its Cheek.
The alien hit the ground and extended its claws, attempting to tear at Tang Zheng, but it was too slow.
Tang Zheng caught the returning Warhammer and struck the alien in the head, then grabbed its ankle, flinging the corpse and toppling another creature. He pulled out the Queen’s Roar for rapid shots.
Qin Yan retrieved her Magic Spear, impaling another alien. Bai Guo, invisible, swung her Twin Blades, cutting a heap of corpse chunks.
After Mu Nianqi slaughtered one, the Combat ended due to Tang Zheng’s arrival, as the Conquerors switched from defense to offense, each wanting to achieve a satisfactory performance.
"Meiqin, Xueqi, go help the Old Soldier at the back!" As Tang Zheng frowned at the corpses on the ground, the noise from the kitchen indicated a fierce battle; no need to ask to know they were engaged in fierce fighting.
The newbies hadn’t even settled down yet, and while Tang Zheng was about to have them clean up the Battlefield and check the restaurant, the ceiling suddenly burst open. A middle-aged man in white kung fu attire and a melon-skin cap leaped down. Upon landing, he darted toward Tang Zheng like an arrow, his right foot aiming a kick.
Tang Zheng stood his ground, whirling his Storm Hammer in a brutal smash. The man contorted his waist forcefully to change direction, charging toward Qin Yan, his right hand formed into an eagle’s talon.
Qin Yan lifted her Magic Spear, aiming at his head. The man had remarkably poor eyesight, dodged away but unfortunately picked Mu Nianqi as his next target, only to be repelled by the Northern Wind Ring.
The kung fu man flipped in the air, avoiding the barrage, then suddenly produced a red Assault Rifle from behind and started shooting at the group of newbies.
A black cone-shaped projectile, the size of a fist, fired out, hitting a newbie. His body immediately swelled and then exploded with a bang.
"What a huge disparity!" Lu Fan had thought the opponent would engage in close combat but didn’t expect him to also wield Technological Weapons, even deploying a Shield to block the Gravity Balls and Thunderballs.
Ruan Feifei swung her hand, unleashing a streak of blue lightning that struck the shield but didn’t harm a single hair on the martial artist’s head. Instead, the energy sphere he shot out made the female anchor’s shield wobble uncontrollably.
"Everyone be careful, it’s an SS-level firearm," Lu Fan said as he fired his dual guns, trying to suppress the martial artist. The time-space blackfish also silently flew behind him, but alas, it couldn’t break through the defense.
"Let’s flip him with the armed Hellfire!" The light armor flooded over Tang Zheng like mercury, covering him in a brilliant mix of red and gold.
With a snap, the face armor locked into place, and two light beams shot directly from his eyes. Tang Zheng then flew out, crashing into the martial artist.
Bai Guo and Qin Yan also armed themselves with Hellfire, forming a triangular formation to encircle the martial artist.
"You actually got your hands on a limited edition Hellfire!" Mu Nianqi had one too, but looking at Tang Zheng’s conspicuous paint job, she sighed, realizing that he was even stronger than she thought.
Impact beams swept over the martial artist from all directions. The guy tried to dodge, but Tang Zheng and the others made full use of Hellfire’s extreme mobility to block him every time. Their armor’s resilience to damage wasn’t bad either; at most they’d take a hit and then get support from their teammates.
The martial artist’s legs were like the wind, and he turned into a spinning top, continuously striking Bai Guo. Stunned by the simpleton’s fall, Tang Zheng immediately took his place. The lightweight armor of the Hellfire didn’t hinder his movements at all. He blocked three kick attacks with his arms, then suddenly swept out his leg like a steel whip, striking the martial artist on the temples.
Like a meteor, the martial artist crashed into the ground, and Mu Nianqi along with Qin Yan pounced, unleashing a brutal assault. The magic gun pierced through its chest, and the older sister flicked her wrist, tossing it towards Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng swung his warhammer down, exploding the martial artist’s head, and a pathetic Golden Seed fell out. By their standards, this guy was not even a mini-boss.
"Ah, the assault rifle didn’t respawn!" Lu Fan picked up the martial artist’s rifle and scanned it.
Venomfang, an SS-level firearm, uses a hundred-shot energy cartridge, with five shots enough to penetrate S-level defense.
"Nice stuff!" Lu Fan tossed Venomfang to Tang Zheng. Only the group leader had the right to distribute the spoils of war.
"Bai Guo, it’s yours!" Tang Zheng noticed a big problem—that protective clothing rarely dropped. Now everyone was wearing S-level armor, which could barely withstand two or three hits in an increasingly difficult game.
"Now you see the disparity in team strength, right? Heading to the Holy Land in our current state is basically like handing out points to others!" Mu Nianqi could guess what Tang Zheng was thinking. "Although our equipment is close to meeting the Holy Land’s requirements, it needs to be two grades stronger in general to ensure our own protection."
"Have you been to the Holy Land?" Lu Fan asked curiously.
"Not really, I’ve only participated in peripheral battles," Mu Nianqi’s confession surprised everyone.
"With your standards, you could reach ten thousand points this round. Are you planning to leave the room?" Ruan Feifei felt that Queen Mu was the real deal when it came to pride and wanted to emulate her attitude.
"No, I regretted not going to the Holy Land last time. I must seize this opportunity." Mu Nianqi’s words let everyone breathe a sigh of relief, but her next sentence made them glare in anger, "But this team is too weak; I might change my mind when the time comes."
"Aren’t you looking down on people too much?" Lu Fan gave Mu Nianqi a glance, already thinking about a duel.
Mu Nianqi turned her back on her, completely ignoring the notion.
"We’ve been talking about the Holy Land, and Tang Zheng even got the ticket. So, when can we go?" Ruan Feifei was somewhat uneasy, as she had used her points to enhance her body and buy life-saving potions and equipment, leaving her with hardly any surplus. She was afraid she wouldn’t accumulate ten thousand points before the time came to enter the Holy Land.
"Not sure, but it’s soon since the game is getting harder, and the drops are getting better. This is a benefit given by Trojan to every team about to enter the Holy Land, of course, it’s also to eliminate those teams with poor strength," Mu Nianqi’s words left everyone in silence, as the news was harsh.
The old soldier came back from the kitchen, his face sad as he looked at the broken corpses, "Sorry, bro, I didn’t lead the team well."
"Don’t blame yourself, let’s go. I’ll take you to a place where we can probably complete the mission soon," Tang Zheng went ahead to lead the way.
"What’s your plan?" Lu Fan squeezed through and grabbed Tang Zheng’s hand.
"I plan to disguise myself as an alien species and deal with the men in black. If treated as a stowaway, I’ll definitely be repatriated, which may lead me to a place teeming with aliens," Tang Zheng realized that aliens could also obtain legal residency, indicating they had temporary IDs.
"Be careful of ending up in prison!" Sha Ou didn’t think highly of this plan, but it was also out of loyalty.
"Even better, maybe there are more aliens in prison." Mu Nianqi was bold and aimed to over-complete the mission, "I’ll join you."
"No, you lead the group, be ready to back us up at any time!" Tang Zheng gave up the idea of waiting at the Chinese Restaurant for the men in black to show up. With a charge of wanton killing hanging over him, he would definitely be thrown in prison, and that wasn’t the outcome he wanted.
