Chapter 1297 - 51 Ball
Chapter 1297: Chapter 51 Ball
Cinderella finished her bath and climbed out of the bucket, her delicate skin covered in droplets of water. As she dressed in a pure white evening gown, she resembled a lily blossoming in the morning, exuding youth and vigor.
Jing Lan held out the crystal shoes and placed them in front of her.
"They’re so beautiful!" exclaimed Cinderella, covering her lips in wonder. The transparent material made her feet look even whiter, and the soft comfort felt as if she was stepping on clouds.
The newbies were all relieved. If Tang Zheng hadn’t found a way to deal with the Death Nest, who knows how many would have died before they could secure the essential items for Cinderella to attend the Ball.
"When the time comes, let her lose the crystal shoes for the prince to find," Lu Fan said, arms crossed, eyeing Cinderella with satisfaction. "I’m confident that the prince will choose her."
"It’s getting late, let’s set off!" Tang Zheng took the lead and flew off, with a group hurriedly following.
When Cinderella arrived at the back garden, she saw the Pumpkin Carriage parked in front of the hazel tree, adorned magnificently. The crystal pendants reflected the moonlight, almost blinding her.
Four pure white and majestic war horses stood quietly, their backs straight and poses elegant. Occasionally snorting, they exuded a noble aura.
"Thank you!" Cinderella felt touched, sensing a warm feeling flowing in her heart.
"Wait until you marry the prince, then you can thank us," Dantai opened the door to the carriage, his right hand across his chest, bowing in deference like a responsible butler, inviting Cinderella to get on.
The Pumpkin Carriage, operating without a human driver, held Cinderella steadily as the four white horses performed a grand dance step and flew into the sky as if climbing a Ladder to Heaven.
"Don’t be nervous, the Pumpkin Carriage has its own flying capabilities!" Jing Lan comforted Cinderella, while the others curiously peered out the windows, observing the scenery below.
"If only we could keep the carriage for ourselves," Teng Yuangxiang murmured, longing to own the Pumpkin Carriage.
The vehicle flew rapidly, but Trojan wouldn’t let the survivors complete the mission so easily. As they passed over a forest, hundreds of bats surged out like a cloud of Katyusha missiles, slamming into the Pumpkin Carriage.
"Watch out!" Zhao Dongtao shouted, then a violent explosion ensued, shaking the entire carriage, causing Cinderella to hit her head against the carriage wall, and blood started flowing immediately.
"Heal her!" Tang Zheng, moving closer to the car window and preparing to block the self-destructing bats, suddenly saw a brilliant crystal shield unfold from the top of the Pumpkin Carriage, enveloping it completely.
The bats crashed into the crystal shield, exploding into a rain of blood and minced meat. The impact produced a visible whirlwind but the carriage continued its journey as steady as if it were fishing placidly.
The newbies’ complexions returned to normal. Gu Xueqi launched Phoenix to heal Cinderella, continuously wiping away the blood with paper towels. With her face damaged, even a fool like the prince wouldn’t look twice at her.
"Lucky we have the Pumpkin Carriage; if it were a normal vehicle, we’d definitely be dead by now," Teng Yuangxiang said, still frightened. She guessed right; according to the normal game process, if the Warhammer team didn’t sacrifice lives to the Death Nest and used a regular carriage instead, it wouldn’t withstand the self-destructing bats because fairy creatures have frail bodies and no Defensive Power, leading to a Team Annihilation.
Actually, if Tang Zheng couldn’t find a solution, even if he disagreed with using Cannon Fodder, Mu Nianqi and Dantai would have mercilessly sent the newbies, even the Conquerors, to try because in the fairy tale, the Pumpkin Carriage and the Crystal Shoes are Cinderella’s trademark items, an essential get.
The crystal Shield’s Defense Power was incredibly strong, enduring the attack of the self-destructing bats. Ten minutes later, the group could see the brightly lit cluster of castles on the horizon. To avoid detection, the carriage landed on the road surface.
"There are guards!" Jing Lan’s heart raced.
"It’s fine, just a routine check," Lu Fan observed keenly, noting this grand Ball was open to commoners and nobility alike. With so many people, the guards weren’t concerned about identities, only ensuring no one carried Weapons inside.
Directed by the servants, the carriage drove onto the parking lawn behind the castle. Suddenly, a glow enveloped everyone.
"What’s happening?" Zhao Dongtao was surprised. "Are we about to transform again?"
"Quick, find a spacious place to hide; I think we’re going back to normal!" Mu Nianqi guessed right. As soon as they flew into the Stable, they reverted to human form.
"Being human is so much more comfortable!" Zhao Dongtao flipped over and jumped up, spitting out the hay from his mouth.
"Stop daydreaming! Let’s grab a few people, strip their clothes, and blend into the ball to see how things unfold," Dantai waved his hand, urging them to act as Trojan’s announcement rang out.
"Toys, please note, you must identify the key figure before the Ball ends and kill them to prevent Cinderella from turning dark. Of course, you also need to ensure Cinderella and Prince marry successfully!"
"Just a reminder, you have three chances, but please use them wisely. Each wrong kill boosts Cinderella’s Combat Power by tenfold."
"If Cinderella reaches Ghost Bride level, after three enhancements, we won’t even need to fight, we’ll just concede right away," Lu Fan scoffed, Trojan was tricky, apparently giving them chances, but realistically only two were viable.
"Absolutely right, so in the next three hours, please try your best!"
Bai Guo swiftly and silently secured dozens of dresses. Instantly transformed, the members of the Warhammer team, resembling indigenous peoples from the Middle Ages, infiltrated the castle.
In the grand Lobby, with luxurious Carpet and beautiful crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, men and women danced gracefully to the melodic music, showcasing their charm.
"I didn’t see the prince!" Pang Meiqin looked around but didn’t spot any important figures.
"How do you know?" Teng Yuangxiang countered, unhappy as she stood next to Tang Zheng, holding his arm.
"Important people are usually surrounded by admirers. They’re easy to recognize," Mu Nianqi explained. "Do you think it’s possible that the prince is the one to be killed?"
"Isn’t he supposed to get married?" Jing Lan was confused.
"Considering Trojan’s evil taste, it’s quite possible," Lin Weiguo frowned. "But I think it’s more likely to be the stepmother. That seems the most likely."
"Don’t act rashly. Observe more!" Tang Zheng disagreed and assigned their roles. "Meiqin, Xueqi, you two stay and protect Cinderella. Dantai, take some people to meet her stepmother and sisters. Everyone else, act according to the situation."
Tang Zheng walked past the dance floor to look for the prince, intending to observe him.
Lu Fan bounced along, trailing behind him.
Several bold ladies approached, blocking Tang Zheng’s path, inviting her to dance.
"Madam, I’m honored," Tang Zheng was about to refuse, but then she suddenly stopped and extended her hand to a lady in a purple court dress. The other women stood around her, deliberately a step behind. No need to ask—this woman was also a big shot that everyone was eager to please.
The lady was daring, placing her hand in Tang Zheng’s and the other on his shoulder.
"Your dancing is excellent." Tang Zheng held the lady’s waist, and as they moved, her ample bust swayed, drawing a seductive arc.
"You’re not bad either." The lady’s interest was not in the wine, her eyes fixed on Tang Zheng’s marble-sculpted, resolute face, almost wanting to devour him.
"How come Prince His Highness hasn’t come out yet?" Tang Zheng made small talk, then subtly shifted the topic to the prince.
"He must be under the queen’s supervision, getting dressed up," the lady answered absentmindedly, subtly leading Tang Zheng towards the northeast corner of the lobby where there was a corridor.
"Is the queen very strict with him?" Tang Zheng wouldn’t let go of any information.
"Yes, I heard she’s very strict. She even checks whether the prince’s underwear is clean every day. She wants him to become the most outstanding talent!" The lady leaned into Tang Zheng, her breath fragrant. "I’m tired. Let’s go rest for a bit!"
"Is that even possible?" Seeing a graceful, mature woman clinging to Tang Zheng’s arm and entering the corridor, Zhao Yunwu almost popped his eyes out.
Ge Cang wanted to laugh. Tang Zheng, in an attempt to extract information, was firmly pinched on the butt by the mature woman; probably there would be a melee combat show later.
"How infuriating!" Pang Meiqin gritted her teeth, swearing to butcher that mature woman.
Lu Fan watched as the lady pushed Tang Zheng into a guest room, unsure whether to follow.
"What’s your name? I’ve been mesmerized by you since the first glance!" The mature woman closed the door with her heel, eagerly wrapping her arms around Tang Zheng, attempting to kiss his lips.
"How is the relationship between the king and the prince?" Tang Zheng used his index finger to stop the woman’s forehead, pushing her head away.
"Very good. The king has hired the best teachers to mold his son into the most outstanding king!" The woman, undeterred, squeezed her chest against Tang Zheng’s, her right hand reaching for his lower body. "Let me tell you a secret—rumor has it the prince likes mature women. Because of this, the queen has already secretly executed three maids."
Tang Zheng delivered a karate chop to the mature woman’s neck, causing her to roll her eyes and collapse to the floor.
Looking at this thirsty woman, Tang Zheng frowned, not sure if that last statement was meant to entice him or if it was indeed true.
The door cracked open slightly, revealing a pair of pitch-black eyes peeking out, left and right. Tang Zheng opened the door, and Lu Fan fell in with a thud.
"Don’t hit me! I won’t dare again!" Little Lolita lay on the floor, protecting her head.
"Let’s go!" Tang Zheng quickly grabbed a maid, learned the prince’s room location, and hurried over just in time to hear the queen scolding her son.
"Don’t wear red clothes; they’re too ugly!" The queen, surrounded by several maids, dressed her son with a serious face.
The prince was helpless, manipulated like a puppet on strings.
Tang Zheng and Lu Fan observed for a full ten minutes, noting nothing deliberate.
"Alright, let’s go out and meet your prospective brides!" The queen, after admiring her son, nodded in satisfaction and led him out.
Tang Zheng and Lu Fan slipped into the room, checking the prince’s belongings. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote and support me. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
