Chapter 1250: Chapter 4 Queen Mu
Zhang Chun’en, a billionaire, real estate mogul, philanthropist, who donates millions to the Hope Project every year, a National People’s Congress Representative, well-connected, well-reputed...
Listening to his uncle’s secretary detailing Zhang Chun’en’s credentials, and comparing it to the billionaire’s rise to fortune, information that she got from her elder brother, Mu Nianqi sat in the car, her face clouding over. Then suddenly, with a slap, she threw the documents onto the seat.
"Your queenly demeanor is getting cooler by the day, I’m almost scared," said Ge Cang, a member of the elite A brigade in the special forces. Due to his relationship with Mu Nianqi’s elder brother, he had forsaken a position as an instructor, transitioned out of the military, and become a personal bodyguard.
Mu Nianqi was a genius, with various military inventions of great value, who had been kidnapped by foreign spies before. For her safety, her family had to take certain measures.
"Hearing this from a king of soldiers like you seems a bit ironic!" Mu Nianqi hung up the phone, sat upright and pulled out a silver Rubik’s cube, idly fiddling with it. This toy, taken from the Trojan Room and hidden in a secret compartment in the villa’s floor, would never have been discovered if not for uncovering Tang Zheng’s secret.
"Haha, I mean with you being so powerful, who would dare to marry you?" Ge Cang, with his bronze skin and muscular build, towered at a height of 1.9 meters, looking extremely imposing. He cared for Mu Nianqi like a younger sister, "Your brother is really worried you won’t get married."
"Hmph, a man worthy of marrying me probably hasn’t been born yet." Mu Nianqi never even considered dating. She was currently only focused on recovering the memories of her high school days. If she had entered the Trojan Room, why did she come out? Knowing her stubborn personality, she would have seen it through and understood everything from beginning to end.
"We’re here, be careful. If they act desperately, don’t overdo it. I’ll cover you while we get out." Ge Cang pressed on the horn, and after verifying his identity, the security guard opened the villa’s main entrance.
"I know." Mu Nianqi checked her Beretta M92F, expertly loaded it, then turned on the safety. She had a gun permit, so she wasn’t worried about being checked.
"What a rarity, welcome! You’re Mu Zitong’s genius sister, aren’t you?" Zhang Chun’en, dressed in pajamas, came down from the second floor. He was of average height and slightly overweight, his complexion sallow with a sickly dark purple hue, clearly grappling with severe illness.
Without waiting for Zhang Chun’en to speak, Mu Nianqi had already sat down on the sofa, completely disregarding the billionaire.
"Bring two cups of West Lake Longjing Tea!" Zhang Chun’en, unperturbed, instructed his Filipino maid, then took a seat on the sofa, "What can I do for you?"
"Have you been investigating me?" Mu Nianqi frowned. For a courteous billionaire like Zhang Chun’en, it was typical to politely ask guests whether they preferred tea or coffee instead of immediately serving West Lake Longjing Tea—moreover, that was her favorite tea. The queen did not believe it was mere coincidence.
Zhang Chun’en shrugged his shoulders, tacitly admitting it.
"So, you already know my purpose here?" Mu Nianqi’s expression did not change, but she secretly gave Ge Cang a cautious look. She suddenly remembered, on the way here, she noticed the same car several times in the rearview mirror.
"Is it about the poisoning incident at the school?" The words that Zhang Chun’en suddenly spat out made Ge Cang instinctively wary, glaring at him fiercely like a wolf.
"It looks like it really was you, then. I guess I’ll take my leave." Although Mu Nianqi talked about leaving, she didn’t move. Since Zhang laid it all out from the start, he clearly wouldn’t let her leave easily.
Zhang Chun’en’s four black-clad bodyguards reached into their suits, obviously grabbing firearms, and strategically positioned themselves to block Mu Nianqi’s escape route.
"What are you trying to do?" Ge Cang bellowed, ready to act, but Mu Nianqi stopped him.
"I’m curious, if you had a problem, why didn’t you just ask me directly? Why create a poisoning incident? Do you know how many people died? One hundred two dead, and another three hundred seventy-three lying in the hospital, suffering," Mu Nianqi asked, remaining composed, the epitome of her queenly nature.
"Tsk, tsk, worthy of being the genius girl, such quick reactions!" Zhang Chun’en clapped a few times and lit up a Panda cigarette, "Care for one?"
"I was wondering, how could a billionaire, cautious for decades, leave such an obvious loophole? It turns out it was intentionally to avoid the police and show me instead. Surely, your motive isn’t to pursue me?" Mu Nianqi scanned the four bodyguards and didn’t take them seriously, "You’d need twice as many people if you want to keep me here."
"Don’t do anything foolish, we already notified the police before coming!" Ge Cang had also sensed the ominous mood and warned Zhang Chun’en.
"Tsk, tsk, how foolish!" Zhang Chun’en wagged his index finger at Ge Cang, looking disdainful, "Niece, I admit, you’re quite right. So, could you perhaps demonstrate your reasoning skills further?"
"Hmph, you definitely installed eavesdropping devices in our cars and had someone watching me these past few days. That car just now is the best proof," Mu Nianqi fiddled with the Silver Rubik’s Cube, leaning back on the sofa, "If I’m not wrong, you’re planning to either imprison or kill me."
"Genius is indeed genius, calm in the face of danger. The Old Mu’s Family is blessed to have a daughter like you, truly a fortune cultivated over eight generations," Zhang Chun’en remarked sentimentally, then his expression darkened, "As long as you cooperate, perhaps I could spare your life."
"Speak up, I really want to see what your motive is," Mu Nianqi said as she crossed her arms, her expression disdainful, though she was brooding over a plan to escape.
"Tell me everything about the Trojan Room. There have been rumors circulating among the top billionaires, and I believe they are true," Zhang Chun’en said, staring intensely at Mu Nianqi’s cheek, not missing any slight expression.
"I am not aware of it," Mu Nianqi frowned, "What does this have to do with murder?"
"After much inquiry, I got news that those associated with the Trojan Room, either by killing them or being killed by them, would have a great chance to be selected to enter the room, and you, you are one of them. Of course, another theory is that killing many people and offering Toys for Trojan is a contribution, but most wealthy scoff at this idea," he explained.
"You have a terminal illness, right? So you don’t care about killing people? And to connect with me, you chose to create a poisoning incident at my school?" Mu Nianqi was quick-witted indeed.
"Absolutely correct!" Zhang Chun’en said without a hint of guilt, quite proud of his plan.
"Are you insane? To murder hundreds, maybe even thousands, just because of a rumor?" Ge Cang was dizzy and then furious.
"Truly ruthless, fitting of a tyrant’s praise!" Mu Nianqi rarely complimented, but understanding the look on Zhang Chun’en’s face, she realized, "A terminally ill bastard, knowing there’s a chance to heal, what’s murdering to him? He probably wouldn’t even fear cannibalism!"
"You are exactly right, so tell me about the Silver Trojan, how do I get in? I want those miraculous medicines!" Zhang Chun’en suddenly roared, as he had been diagnosed with cancer and had only a few months left.
"I don’t know," Mu Nianqi played with the Silver Rubik’s Cube, aligning it in under three seconds, then scrambling it again and realigning it, her hands moving at an unbelievable speed.
"Impossible, I’ve checked your background. Although you were outstanding in your early years and a genius, it wasn’t supernatural. But since entering high school, you actually obtained hundreds of patents, especially a few missile blueprints, which were of world-class standard. These made you a target for spies. I don’t believe anyone is born with such knowledge without formal training, how could you know so much?" Zhang Chun’en outlined his deductions. Two years ago, he began using all his resources to prolong his life, spending vast amounts of money to dig up everything about Trojan, which led him to focus on a dozen individuals, with Mu Nianqi being the most likely one.
"Fascinating, continue!" Mu Nianqi knew she had taken a huge risk this time and couldn’t get away entirely, yet she felt no regret, fiercely resolute.
"I presume, Trojan might have some sort of punishment that restricts you from revealing its information, otherwise why is it considered nothing but a fairy tale? I can let you go, but you must name a few companions so I can interrogate them." Zhang Chun’en had done much planning for this day, having decided to imprison Mu Nianqi and use every means to extract the information.
"Let Ge Cang leave, and I will cooperate," Mu Nianqi said only to let Ge Cang escape, seeing Zhang Chun’en’s twisted face disgusted her, she would rather perish together than reveal a word.
"Don’t treat me like a fool, not just Ge Cang, I will bring all your family members, one by one, until you reveal the origins and location of Trojan," Zhang Chun’en waved his hand, and four black-suited bodyguards pounced.
"Left side!" Mu Nianqi, like a proud swan, kicked out her slender right leg, overturning the tea table, pulled out a handgun, and opened fire to the right.
Ge Cang moved, pulling out his own handgun and quickly took down two, but these four bodyguards were retired special forces from Squad A. Individually, their combat abilities were no match for Ge Cang, but combined, they were not something he could handle alone.
After a burst of rapid gunfire, Ge Cang lay silently on the ground, dead despite his bulletproof vest, having been headshot. The four men in black also died, and Mu Nianqi’s shooting skills and physical conditioning were absolutely top-notch, but at such a close distance, she too was hit several times and, even though she wore a bulletproof vest, several bones were broken.
"Bastard, go to hell!" Furious at seeing her brother’s friend dead, Mu Nianqi yelled and blew Zhang Chun’en’s head off with a shot. She had a recording device on her, and their exchange could serve as evidence.
Zhang Chun’en didn’t care and showed a satisfied smile.
"No good!" Seeing this, Mu Nianqi knew it was bad news and tried to escape, but it was too late. The living room exploded, engulfing the entire villa.
Zhang Chun’en had long connected his heartbeat to the bomb, ready to perish together with Mu Nianqi, after all, they were both near death. Why not gamble? Besides, living through the pain of chemotherapy was unbearable.(To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please go to qidian.com to vote and give your monthly ticket.
