Chapter 1227: Chapter 93 Unleashing Power
"Everyone conserve ammunition, Dong Zixuan, clear the area with your ability!" Tang Zheng scanned the surroundings, taking in the entire subway platform which was overrun with zombies. A subway train was parked nearby, heavily damaged, with no corpses visible since all the passengers had become hosts for parasitic eggs, turning them into one of them.
With a thud, a zombie misstepped and fell off the platform. Just as it tried to rise, another zombie fell on it, overwhelming it with their sheer numbers. Initially wandering, the zombies swarmed towards the noise made by Tang Zheng and his group, clustering densely like locusts.
"Come on, I’ll kill all of you!" Rong He roared, wielding the Howling Reaper and firing wildly, delighting in the zombies that were blasted into pieces with flesh flying everywhere. However, he slowed his massacre after hearing Tang Zheng’s reminder.
"Killing these monsters doesn’t seem to drop any seeds?" Rong He was not foolhardy; he widened his eyes in search of seeds among the bodies but to his disappointment found none.
Once Dong Zixuan acted, it was with a deadly, wide-ranging attack. The ground in front of her cracked open, and then red magma spewed out more than ten feet high, sweeping toward the zombie horde like a tsunami, devouring life and leaving nothing but scorched, pitch-dark earth in its wake.
The platform was completely immersed in the scalding magma, and Tang Zheng watched as even the steel subway began to melt. In less than three minutes, the area was cleared.
Dong Zixuan manipulated the magma to seep underground, and before the ground had completely cooled, Tang Zheng was already stepping on it.
"Move quickly, stay alert." The heat was intense, but there was no time to waste. Just after passing the ticket inspection, Tang Zheng saw over a hundred zombies descending the stairs.
Ignoring his shoes which had softened from the heat, Qian Wen opened fire on the zombie horde, and others also began attacking. The sudden gunfire caused even more zombies near the subway exit to surge forward.
Luckily, the main street was already chaotic with plenty of noise; otherwise, the gunfire alone would have caused significant trouble.
Dong Zixuan, still a newbie, didn’t know how to control the consumption of her life energy. She was becoming exhausted and only wanted to find a place to sleep well.
"Zixuan, you don’t need to attack, just rest. Qian Wen, ensure her safety; we’ll handle it here," Tang Zheng noticed the policewoman’s condition. He drew his silenced Desert Eagle and charged up the stairs.
Seeing a human approach suddenly activated the prostitute zombie at the front, who lunged with arms outstretched.
"Your eyeshadow is too thick." When he was two meters away, Tang Zheng aimed the muzzle at the prostitute zombie’s head and pulled the trigger.
Thump, the bullet exploded the prostitute zombie’s head, and four tentacles surged out from the severed neck, twisting around. Before they could reach Tang Zheng, the heart was shot twice, and after a kick to the stomach, the entire body flew back, knocking over another zombie and dying completely.
"Indeed, zombies infected with the parasitic virus need both the brain and the heart destroyed," Tang Zheng didn’t pause and shot the next lunging zombie at close range. With the Desert Eagle’s powerful 20mm caliber, it’s no problem to hit every shot. The handgun, equivalent to a hand cannon, tore the zombie’s chest apart into two chunks of broken flesh.
Seeing Tang Zheng’s rampage, the newbies nearly popped their eyes out. The team leader, emotionless, ascended the steps while the horde of zombies that surged towards him were shattered like waves crashing on rocks. Silent gunfire turned them into ruptured lumps of flesh, falling to the ground.
The zombies were only two meters from Tang Zheng, but this small gap, seemingly just a stretch of the hand away, became an insurmountable natural moat for them.
The entire stairway was painted red with spilled blood, covered with a layer of minced meat making it somewhat slippery. The sight of the scattered organs was more than the newbies had seen in their entire lives.
Zhao Dongtao swore that after this, he’d never eat pig liver again!
Rong He took a couple of steps and squelched, stepping on an intestine. He immediately felt nauseated.
"That handgun of the team leader is really cool, can it be infinite ammunition?" marvelled the traffic police, watching Tang Zheng’s silver Desert Eagle with envious drool.
"I guess not, where else can he shoot? One bullet to rule them all!" Xiu Yingjie’s voiced carried an unwitting sourness, realizing the unimaginable gap between himself and his old classmate which left no room for comparison.
"What are you dazing at? Hurry up." During the brief conversation, Tang Zheng backed up two steps while pressing the ammo clip release button to swap in a new clip. With Tang Zheng’s speed, even retrieving the old clip, the entire process didn’t last a second.
"Doesn’t that make it almost like infinite ammunition?" The traffic police felt he couldn’t perform such tricks; apart from skills, a strong mental resilience was needed. After all, with zombies right in front of him, any mistake could cost him his life.
Suddenly, a Licker appeared at the subway entrance. Seeing people below, it used the walls and ceiling for a triangulated jump forward, quickly leaping to appear directly above Tang Zheng’s head.
"Be careful!" Dong Zixuan just shouted when Tang Zheng, without looking back, had already aimed his handgun upwards, pressing it right against the Licker’s head.
The Licker’s strong sprinting force could have knocked Tang Zheng over and injured his wrist, but alas, it didn’t get the chance. The moment Tang Zheng felt the impact, he pulled back and fired instantly.
