Chapter 1190: Chapter 67 Seed Affiliation

The small town had fallen into silence, except for the crackling sound of the fire in the wooden house, there was no other noise. The newbies stood beside the tanks, looking at Tang Zheng with his face full of sorrow; no one dared to disturb him.

Tang Zheng picked up a military shovel and carried the corpses of Zhao Yulian and her child towards the outskirts of the small town, with Song Xin following behind.

Liu Man wanted to have a heart-to-heart with Tang Zheng. When a man is vulnerable, it’s a good opportunity to make a good impression, but Zhao Dongtao stopped her.

"Don’t add to the chaos," Zhao Dongtao naturally hoped Song Xin and Tang Zheng would be together; they were well-matched.

"Sister Zixuan, let’s clean up a few of the rooms for rest," Tao Ran hesitated for a moment, not chasing after Tang Zheng. He wanted to prepare a comfortable bedroom for him.

"Okay," Dong Zixuan walked a few steps, then looked back at Kong Licheng, "You could have beaten that Licker, so why did you handle it that way?"

Kong Licheng squatted on the ground, the bloodstain piercing his eyes painfully. In the critical moment earlier, he had only focused on using the safest method to kill the Licker, but seeing the death of the mother and son, he felt terrible. After all, he wasn’t the kind of guy who could disregard the lives of others; he still had a bottom line as a human being.

"Brother Kong, don’t overthink, life and death are predestined, it’s not your fault," Tong Dahong had already grown accustomed to death; surviving was the most important thing. He pulled Kong Licheng up, "Come on, let’s find something to eat, then have a good sleep to restore our energy for escape."

Kong Licheng didn’t make a fuss. He knew how to maintain his own condition. With no one to look after the newbies, those who were on good terms quickly formed teams to search for food and rest in the rooms.

Under the cool night wind, Tang Zheng swung the iron shovel, digging a grave while Song Xin helped him, her face drenched in sweat.

"Take a break, I can do this myself," Tang Zheng offered, but Song Xin, stubborn as ever, continued digging.

Tang Zheng knew Song Xin’s character and didn’t urge her further, quickening his own pace instead. Ten minutes later, he placed the corpses of Zhao Yulian and her child inside a wardrobe and buried them in the grave.

Exhaling deeply, Tang Zheng suddenly lay back, sprawling on the grass and looking up at the beautiful starry sky, feeling at peace.

"Your sentimental nature hasn’t changed, huh? Feeling melancholic for several days over a stranger," Song Xin hugged her knees, sitting on the grass and stealing a glance at Tang Zheng’s profile. After four years, she was finally sitting with him again.

"If someone resurrected you, but their intention wasn’t to save you but to use you as a toy, would you feel grateful?"

The Trojan Horse Game had depressed Tang Zheng for over half a year with its frustration and dilemmas. Now that he finally encountered an old acquaintance, he could share his thoughts. With a death rate of 99%, there were few besides some lucky ones who could accumulate enough points to leave; even a Powerful Party like him could easily die in the game. The incessant rule changes of Trojan were maddening. Even as a Group Leader in Hero Mode, he couldn’t guarantee his survival.

"Then, I’d rather not be resurrected," Song Xin brushed a lock of hair from her forehead, "Even if it means dying unnoticed, I wouldn’t want to be treated like a plaything. For that mother and child, they definitely couldn’t have cleared the game. Resurrection would be nothing more than another painful death."

Song Xin could imagine the despair of a mother watching her child die in her arms.

Tang Zheng spoke simply, unsure if he should continue struggling. Defeating Trojan? It was a joke, even in Hero Mode what would that change? A simple restriction from Trojan could turn them back into ordinary people.

"Tang Zheng, whatever you decide to do, I think you should keep going," Song Xin smiled, looking at the sky, "You’re kind-hearted, so I believe you’re right. If I hadn’t met you in this cruel game, I think I would have already taken my own life."

"Others say you’re indecisive, but in my eyes, that’s gentleness, an ability to embrace everything. I know your strength and determination. Decide on it, then go for it," Song Xin was utterly supportive of Tang Zheng. Four years had passed, and he hadn’t changed at all, still sometimes naïve like a fool.

"Thank you," Tang Zheng said, not knowing if he had dragged down his classmates, which would have made him feel even guiltier. Trojan had selected these people specifically to test the Group Leaders.

"You’re being too formal. Oh, and give me your mobile phone number; don’t keep disappearing. It’s impossible to find you when we want to," Song Xin pretended to be casual, reaching out her hand towards Tang Zheng for his number, but her blushing cheeks betrayed her nervous and shy emotions.

"It’s all my fault," Tang Zheng apologized, recalling Trojan’s words upon entering the game; complete the conquest of the Holy Land, and any wish would be granted, "I don’t want a wish, I just want to know the origin of Trojan."

On this foreign night, the distance between the two had shortened considerably, and the atmosphere was harmonious. Their laughter was so pleasant that even the bright moon became envious, hiding behind a cloud.

Song Xin recounted many junior high school anecdotes, most of which were about Tang Zheng. Some he could barely remember, but as Song Xin told them, it was as if they were vividly before his eyes. In the girl’s heart, those three years of unrequited love were her sweetest and most bitter moments.

In a young girl’s tender years, the image of a boy had pierced deeply into her, hidden in a corner of her memory. To her, biting into it was like experiencing the tart and varied taste of fruit. To him, it was an unknown happiness!
