Chapter 1118: Chapter 3: The Policewoman’s Favorability

"Stop or I’ll shoot, I’m a policeman!" Tang Zheng roared, warning the passengers on the platform, "This is an accident, I’ll ask a few questions, and then you can leave without any further trouble."

Tang Zheng knew these people all had the instinct to seek good fortune and avoid disaster, but he didn’t know why the man in the suit had killed himself—to be on the safe side, he decided to keep all the passengers and question them. Of course, that was a policeman’s job.

The subway came to a stop, the doors opened, and the passengers got off. Seeing the bloody scene, they involuntarily slowed down. Some were panicked, some curious, and there were even people who took out their mobile phones to take pictures.

After shouting, "Call 120, get a rescue train!" Tang Zheng hung up Teng Yuangxiang’s phone call and dialed the emergency number, notifying them of a serious accident at the subway station.

"Let go of me, I’m fine now!" Dong Zixuan calmed down and removed Tang Zheng’s hand from her eyes. She licked her lips, felt the warm and moist sensation, and immediately remembered it was the blood and flesh of that criminal, which made her bend over and vomit.

"Give me your police badge and quickly take control of the scene!" Tang Zheng whispered something in Dong Zixuan’s ear, "Otherwise, we’re in big trouble."

"It’s in my pocket," Dong Zixuan said before vomiting again, unable to stop visualizing the scene where Zhuo Yijie was struck and killed.

"In this state, how are you still fit to be a policewoman?" Tang Zheng deliberately provoked Dong Zixuan, hoping to use her anger to suppress the nausea and help her recover quickly. He noticed the crowd getting louder; the passengers who were initially on the platform tried to slip away, so he quickly lifted the hem of Dong Zixuan’s knitted sweater and reached into her jeans pocket.

Dong Zixuan’s jeans were tight-fitting, clinging to her thighs, and Tang Zheng’s hand immediately felt the warmth and touch of skin, but came up empty.

"It’s in the back pocket," Dong Zixuan said, but then realized something was wrong. Before she could stop him, a large hand had already slipped into the pocket on her buttocks and pulled out the police badge.

"You..." Dong Zixuan was furious and embarrassed. In her entire twenty-three years, a man had never touched her buttocks before. Just as she was about to lose her temper, she saw that Tang Zheng wasn’t paying any attention to these things; instead, he was using his police badge to control the scene and coordinate the passengers.

"Everyone else besides these passengers, step back ten meters!" Tang Zheng was going to let go of Dong Zixuan and help the injured woman, who had survived the ordeal and was now crying with wounds on her face, but then he saw that Dong Zixuan’s collar was open, revealing her back, and he quickly covered her up.

"What are you doing? Don’t be excessive!" Dong Zixuan was startled and pushed against Tang Zheng’s chest.

"Your clothes are torn, cover it up!" Tang Zheng frowned, let go of the policewoman, threw her his sportswear, and then rushed to the injured white-collar woman, "Stop crying, it’s just a scrape. You won’t be disfigured."

"Everyone disperse, there’s nothing to see here." Dong Zixuan had regained her composure and quickly made a phone call to the Municipal Bureau, but her eyes were fixated on Tang Zheng, who was comforting the white-collar woman. She felt a growing sense of admiration for him. The can he threw was clearly his doing. If it weren’t for his action, she would definitely have been killed by the criminal, not to mention his timely intervention. She now shuddered at the thought; if he hadn’t acted quickly, her fate could have been the same as the man turned into a bloody pulp.

Tang Zheng instructed the white-collar woman to press on her wound and took out his mobile phone to call Lu Fan and Qin Yan one by one. The message was that the phones were powered off, obviously still not out from the game.

"Is this guy an ordinary person? Seeing a criminal committing murder, killing so many people, and someone else jumping in front of a train and dying horribly, he remains indifferent and unemotional?" Dong Zixuan maintained order but kept her eyes on Tang Zheng’s protective clothing, which outlined his muscular physique due to being tight-fitting. "Hey, are you an athlete?"

"No!" Tang Zheng estimated that the police would arrive soon, and he didn’t want to stay around to be interrogated, "I need to leave."

"No, you can’t. You’re an important eyewitness," Dong Zixuan said, then softened her tone, "It’s okay, just come to the station to make a statement, and then you can leave."

"I don’t have time." Tang Zheng took a few steps only to be chased and grabbed by Dong Zixuan by the arm.

"It’s the regulation; you can’t leave," Dong Zixuan said, not giving Tang Zheng any special treatment and filled with curiosity about him, "What’s your job? Why aren’t you afraid of corpses?"

"I’ve watched too many horror movies; got used to it," Tang Zheng made up a response and tried to pull away his arm, but before he could leave, a group of police officers had already charged into the subway station and ran over.

Barricades were quickly erected, and with a middle-aged police inspector’s commands, the scene was immediately brought under control.

"Officer Dong, come here and tell me what happened?" The police inspector was a middle-aged man, not overweight and radiated efficiency in his speech. His gaze seemed to pierce to the heart of Tang Zheng as if he wanted to see right through him, "Who is this?"

"He helped maintain order and saved me. The criminal jumped in front of the subway, killing himself, probably a vengeful and world-weary person," Dong Zixuan answered concisely, then turned to ask, "May I have your name?"

"No need for formalities, my last name is Tang, with a simple name Zheng!" Tang Zheng knew he couldn’t leave and offered his hand.

"Nice to meet you, and thank you for saving my officer," the police inspector shook his hand, "Sorry to inconvenience you, but we’ll need a bit of your time."

"It’s no bother!" One doesn’t slap a smiling face, and since the inspector was so polite, Tang Zheng had no way to leave.

"You guys take a break; I’ll handle the rest," the police inspector left, and Dong Zixuan brought Tang Zheng over to the seating area, "You throw cans with such precision, ever played baseball? Also, I watch zombie movies too, so why do I still get scared when I see a corpse? Isn’t it supposed to be an instinctive reaction?"

"Not sure." Tang Zheng wasn’t about to be drawn into conversation by a novice policewoman; if he were to say he’d seen more corpses than she had met people daily, it might blow her mind.

"There must be some secret to it." Dong Zixuan was interrupted as a young man in a crisp police uniform, sweating profusely, ran over anxiously looking at her, "I got Xiao Hu’s call and came running. Are you okay?"

"What could be wrong with me?" Dong Zixuan was obviously impatient, waved her hand, "Get back to work."

"Zixuan, I care about you," Li Wenbo glanced at Tang Zheng and tried to grab Dong Zixuan’s hand, only to be avoided. "Who is he?"

"What are you doing? I told you everything is fine," Dong Zixuan said with annoyance. "Give me your number. I will wash the clothes tomorrow and return them to you."

"No need," Tang Zheng refused. "You should hurry and ask. I’m in a rush."

"Officer Dong, come here," the police inspector called out to the policewoman from the edge of the platform.

"Alright, don’t you leave, Wenbo. Keep an eye on him for me," Dong Zixuan ran off, and then made a punching gesture towards Tang Zheng.

"Name, age, gender," Li Wenbo became irritated when he saw his beloved girl wearing his clothes and planning to stay in touch. His tone was very stern.

This male officer was clearly picking a fight, but Tang Zheng did not respond.

"Can’t you hear me speaking? Do you believe I can cuff you and drag you back to the station?" Li Wenbo roared, wanting to see Tang Zheng cower, but to his disappointment, he did not get his way.

"I gave you face and you don’t want it!" Li Wenbo was furious due to Tang Zheng’s disregard and swung his hand toward his cheek.

Tang Zheng was quicker, retaliated with a slap, the force of which twisted Li Wenbo’s body to one side.

The crisp sound of the slap suddenly echoed, drawing the attention of everyone around.

"What’s going on?" Xiao Hu, a police officer with a good relationship with Li Wenbo, came running over and loudly scolded Tang Zheng.

"Mind your tone, I’m not a criminal!" Tang Zheng walked towards Dong Zixuan. Xiao Hu glanced at the still-dizzy Li Wenbo and tried to stop Tang Zheng. "You can’t leave."

Tang Zheng swung his arm fiercely, causing Xiao Hu to stagger back a few steps, and eventually he couldn’t keep his balance and fell to the ground.

"You’re assaulting an officer, stop there, I’m going to arrest you!" Li Wenbo, holding his head with one hand and reaching for his gun with the other, was thoroughly enraged and determined to take Tang Zheng back to the station for a beating. "Go, cuff him."

"Officer, I’m done with the statement, I’m leaving," Tang Zheng said, ignoring the police inspector and turning to leave.

The police inspector frowned, this kid was giving him no face at all. As an experienced officer, he could plainly see why Li Wenbo was picking on Tang Zheng. However, this kid dared to hit a policeman, he must have something to fall back on. As for Li Wenbo, with a father who was a secretary in the Municipal Bureau...

The middle-aged police inspector had been in the officialdom for many years; though upright, he was not pedantic and knew how to adapt. So he didn’t speak up. He knew Dong Zixuan’s temper would surely make her intervene. Besides, her father is the mayor.

"Li Wenbo, what are you making a fuss about?" Dong Zixuan was smart enough to know the reason for the conflict, and Tang Zheng was definitely an innocent victim. "Put the gun away."

"So I’m just supposed to get hit for no reason?" Li Wenbo didn’t dare to lose his temper with Dong Zixuan, but he was extremely frustrated. "Alright, as you say, my little princess."

"Don’t call me that," Dong Zixuan cringed at the nickname and turned away from him to chase after Tang Zheng. "What’s your number?"

"Kid, don’t think this is the end of it!" With the name known, it would be easy to find the person. Li Wenbo was seething with rage, determined to teach that guy a tough lesson.

Tang Zheng casually made up a number, but he couldn’t fool the policewoman.

"I thought of you as a friend, aren’t you a bit too cold?" Dong Zixuan had wanted to thank Tang Zheng for saving her and to treat him to a meal another day, but after being repeatedly refused, she also grew angry.

"It’s a minor matter, why worry about it?" Tang Zheng did not look back, waved his hand, ran across the street, stopped a taxi, and left.

"Hmph, scared to deal with police, is there really something to hide?" Dong Zixuan’s desire to solve the case resurfaced. She also didn’t want to go back and see those corpses, so she hailed a taxi to follow Tang Zheng.

"Uncle Wang, I’m not feeling well, I’m heading back."

"Hmm, take care and rest well!" The police inspector saw Li Wenbo frequently looking towards the exit, waiting for the policewoman to return, sighed, and shouted a reminder to him.

"Damn it!" Li Wenbo was so furious he almost ground his teeth to dust, Dong Zixuan’s stubbornness was maddening, and he was almost tempted to turn to violent measures.
