Chapter 1110: Chapter 74: Fury
A large amount of fresh blood sprayed from the beheaded One-Eyed Demon’s neck like heavy rain, covering everything around and obscuring the view. Pang Meiqin took advantage of this cover and rushed in front of a demon. After dodging a light beam shot from its eye, the Ripper, fueled by a gust of wind, slashed across its belly. The serrated blade whirled, scattering minced flesh into the air.
Slashed in the middle, the demon split into two halves. Pang Meiqin burst out from the midst, her expressionless cheeks smeared with mottled bloodstains. She glanced at the group of American newcomers huddled together and, continuing her sprinting momentum, landed a whip kick right on the head of another One-Eyed Demon.
The demon toppled over, spiraling toward the American newcomers, who were shocked into screaming and scattering in all directions.
"Group Leader, save us," the blonde girl who had once worn a pumpkin costume pleaded with Rogers, but he was too busy fighting the Angel Girl to care.
Neither the Red-Clothed Woman nor Anna cared about these newcomers. The Conquerors, accustomed to death, had become opportunists under the coercion of a harsh environment; they might lend a hand to a newcomer if their lives weren’t in danger and they were in a good mood, but now, during a final boss battle, no one wanted to be distracted.
Of course, Tang Zheng was an exception. However, as his experiences grew, his overly nice traits had significantly weakened. He would still lend a helping hand to newcomers without compromising his own safety, but even so, his actions were out of place. After all, no one would give newcomers a Seed, even a low-grade Black Iron, just because they took a liking to them.
"Those newcomers have Seed Abilities!" The bedraggled American newcomers saw Lin Fachan and his two companions counterattacking under the assault of One-Eyed Demons, and they couldn’t help feeling incredibly envious. At that moment, they wished they could join the Warhammer team.
An Fei was from the Shooting series, but with a difference. His attack power was slightly weaker, and he specialized in concealment. Under the cover of night, his skin changed to mimic the color of moonlight, merging into the environment like a chameleon—an outstanding ability for the assassin series. Unfortunately, in a head-to-head battle, his power was greatly diminished.
Lin Jing was also from the Shooting series, but she specialized in offensive abilities. Besides her precise shots, each of her bullets was doubly powerful and came with various effects, such as explosive, corrosive, and more. If she had better weapons, she could become a formidable artillery battery.
Lin Fachan held an M9 Pistol in his left hand and a Nepalese Curved Knife in his right, standing alert beside Lin Jing, ready to throw himself in front of his girlfriend like a meat shield as soon as the One-Eyed Demons attacked.
The Caucasian Shepherd Dog crouched beside him, barking furiously.
The demon that Pang Meiqin had kicked away got back up and pursued the nearest American female newcomer.
"Don’t!" In less than three seconds, the female newcomer was tackled to the ground. The demon swung its hand, smashing her head into a pulp, leaving only her convulsing body behind.
"All of you will die!" Meatball roared, its body shaking as it dropped a dozen eyeballs that wriggled and transformed into One-Eyed Demons, spreading out to kill the survivors around them.
The newcomers were in immediate trouble as the One-Eyed Demons shot beams of light from their eyes, rotating their heads like Beam Sabers slicing through the air.
The newcomers dodged frantically, their faces filled with panic.
One male newcomer had his belly pierced by a beam, then was cleaved in half, his body breaking. He didn’t die instantly but crawled, unwilling to give up on life. The couple next to him fared even worse; here, the light beams converged more densely. There was no chance to evade, and they were slaughtered, sliced into over a dozen pieces of flesh, turning into a pile of mush.
The three newcomers of the Warhammer team had doubled their physical fitness after using the Seed, and they just managed to survive this wave of attacks.
The Japanese group rushed over to witness the bloody scene, all frozen at the entrance.
"Spread out, don’t stay together," Asakura Sakura shouted, worried about the monsters being targeted for group attacks.
Aihara Chiharu’s gaze immediately fell on Tang Zheng, wanting to call for him, but ultimately, she didn’t say a word.
"There’s not much time left. If you have any ultimate abilities, use them now!" Rogers felt Tang Zheng must be holding something back and urged them on. He himself wore a treacherous smile, also holding back a trump card, waiting for the final sure-kill blow. As long as Tang Zheng was taken out, the Warhammer team would become a flock of sheep waiting to be slaughtered.
"You call yourself a Group Leader, battling with that winged mongrel for so long?" Teng Yuangxiang sneered at Rogers. She stayed on the periphery, restless and anxious. If it weren’t for the Protection Rule, she would have lost patience and controlled the newcomers already.
Tao Tao held a rifle, unsure of what to do, trembling all along.
"You want to try how strong this mongrel is?" the Red-Clothed Woman, infuriated, carelessly got pierced in the shoulder by one of the Angel Girl’s feathers.
"This won’t do," Dantai said, looking at Tang Zheng. He covertly slid his thumb across his neck, making a throat-slitting gesture, suggesting they should kill the Americans as well if they wanted to fully unleash their power without hesitation on both sides, lest time be wasted in vain.
"Yu Manli, how are things on your side? Have you attacked the black man?" Tang Zheng inquired of the mature woman, wanting to confirm if attacking the other side would trigger any punishment. Unfortunately, communications were jammed, leaving nothing but static noise.
"Let the newcomers take action," Dantai frowned, unwilling to wait any longer. "Xiao Linzi, send your dog to attack those newcomers."
Lin Fachan paused for a second then followed the order, whistling sharply. The half-human-height Caucasian Shepherd leapt fiercely towards the pumpkin-clad girl, then pounced, biting onto her arm.
"What are you doing?" Anna screamed.
"Get off!" The pumpkin-clad girl was toppled over, the hunting dog’s sharp teeth embedded in her arm, pulling her along as it moved.
"Warning, Lin Fachan, please restrain your hunting dog; attacking allies is prohibited, or extermination punishment will be applied," the Red Trojan Horse announced mercilessly.
"Damn it, I knew it would be like this," Dantai fumed, wondering if the standstill would continue.
"My trump card is about to take effect!" Rogers gleefully thought to himself, though his face showed urgency, as he proposed again, "This limitation has its benefits, too—no one needs to worry about infighting. So, how about we go full firepower? Whoever kills the boss gets the spoils of war. I don’t want them, otherwise, when time runs out, we all die."
"There are only nine minutes left, do you want to die?" The red-clothed woman urged similarly, though she understood that the Warhammer group had much higher overall strength and were unlikely to agree, as the gains were too little.
"I don’t trust them," Tang Zheng said before sending out his Aihara Chiharu’s eagle and summoning ancient generals to besiege the meatball.
Dressed as a nurse, Daylily appeared, her fingers fluttering as she cast various halos to increase combat power.
Seeing that the queen clone did not appear, Li Xinlan and the others knew Tang Zheng still didn’t trust Rogers, but given their current combat strength, it was enough.
"Newbies, fend for yourselves, everybody else, attack together," Dantai gave up on the newbies and invested all the troops in the main battlefield.
The pressure on the meatball immediately intensified, fraught with danger. The widow’s Ice Frost Coliseum continued to squeeze its dodging space, and for a moment, the rooftop was chillingly cold, with luminous ice shards floating around from the shattered ice.
Sha Ou held his chest, using his telekinesis to restrain the meatball’s movement. Due to his unhealed serious injury and overexertion, he had coughed up several mouthfuls of blood, but still insisted on attacking.
Dantai’s Ghost Bombs continually flew out, bombing the meatball, each detonation in its mind caused a brief pause in its actions.
Tang Zheng was undoubtedly the main attacker, and even Pang Meiqin did not fall short. After activating her First-order Explosion Seed, she became even faster, leaving after-images, and viciously attacked the meatball, with the Ripper even severing one of its tentacles.
Ruan Feifei assisted from the outside, attacking the boss as well as slaying demons that surged through the Teleportation Gates,
Teng Yuangxiang and Tao Tao were completely useless.
"Such bad luck." Rogers, green with envy at the coordination displayed by the Warhammer team and the meatball’s continuous screams, decided that once back in reality, he would kill them.
"Why can’t they trust the group leader and fight with all their might, like the members of Warhammer?" Rogers couldn’t understand and got distracted; thus, the angel girl caught his lapse, breached his defense, and her eyes shot out Purification Light beams, tearing through his right rib area.
"Support!" Rogers called out as he took out a First Aid Kit and slapped it on the wound where his ribs were visible.
The red-clothed woman, under Rogers’ glaring gaze, could only brace herself and step forward, thinking she was only at the second stage, and then she was unlucky.
"Burst." The meatball, severely beaten, activated its final stage of berserk mode, the angel girl’s strength surged, she transformed, and let out a hellish roar.
The entire rooftop trembled with the roar, cracks appearing, and visible ripples of distortion spread through the air.
The girl’s dress shattered, her body became more slender, her teeth protruded and sharpened; even her angel wings turned into bat wings, and her hands and feet became claw-like, all enveloped in a mist of blood.
The red-clothed woman was unfortunate; she ran over just in time to be hit head-on by the hellish roar, causing her to bleed from all orifices and become dizzy. Just as she thought of retreating, the transformed Charm Demon girl pounced in front of her, reaching for her head with a claw.
"Purification!" The red-clothed woman, barely hanging on, fended off the girl’s palm, but immediately suffered a scorching strike. Her hair caught fire completely, and her body felt as if it was engulfed in magma, unbearably hot, causing serious burns.
"Group Leader!" The red-clothed woman couldn’t yell for help before the Charm Demon girl’s claws tore through her throat, ripping out her trachea, and without stopping for a moment, she went for Rogers.
The meatball fell into a frenzy, initiating its ultimate ability. Its body contracted, then expanded, eyes opening all over its surface.
With the meatball at the center, a double-cross-shaped light beam grid extended, covering a thirty-meter radius, spinning quickly like a windmill, slicing through everything in its path.
Some demons didn’t get out of the way in time and were instantly ground into bits.
While the newbies were far enough away to be safe, the Conquerors were unlucky, forced to rely on their shields to withstand the attack. However, before the newbies could breathe a sigh of relief, a large area of lightning chain attacks exploded from the meatball, covering the entire rooftop!
.....
