Chapter 1056: Chapter 32: Sorry, I’m a Policeman Too! (Three more updates, ten thousand words)

"I’m a policeman! Fuck, all of you drug traffickers, get off the car and submit to a check." Bynum, who was about to mount his gun, saw Tang Zheng’s defiance, became enraged, pulled up his pants, drew his handgun, and aimed it at him.

Tang Zheng ignored Bynum and took out a cigarette, placing it between his lips.

Pang Meiqin stepped down and obediently took out a lighter to light it for him.

"Some people you just can’t afford to mess with." The villainous police officer, driven mad by their disregard, roared loudly. He was fabricating charges against these people with yellow skin, determined to teach them a lesson they’d never forget.

"That’s exactly what I was about to say." Tang Zheng didn’t smoke, so the inhalation made him choke. Lighting this cigarette was simply a preparation to brand Bynum’s forehead with a searing mark.

Teng Yuangxiang got out of the car and looked coldly at Bynum. Such scum, she thought, must be destroyed with humanity.

"Not bad, Eastern beauty. I like it." Bynum’s eyes gleamed like a wolf’s, greedily staring at Pang Meiqin and Teng Yuangxiang, swallowing saliva, "I suspect you are smuggling drugs, now come back to the police station with me for investigation."

Due to the calm demeanor of Tang Zheng and his companions, Bynum did not suspect that these people were of ’Black’ status.

"This guy is hopelessly stupid." The way Bynum’s gaze lingered on her felt like a rat crawling over her skin, Teng Yuangxiang shivered with disgust, ready to shoot the man dead.

"I won’t be satisfied until I’ve beaten him up." Tang Zheng stopped Teng Yuangxiang.

"Place your hands on your head, face towards the car, hurry up, or I’ll shoot," Bynum yelled hoarsely. Every year there were young fools challenging the authority of a policeman, and only after a beating would they learn to restrain themselves.

"Do as he says." Seeing that Bynum was cautious, holding the gun and standing about ten meters away, not coming any closer, Tang Zheng could only put his hands on his head.

The middle-aged housewife was frightened, always very afraid of policemen, and crouched inside the car, scared of being seen.

Bynum was satisfied, eyes lingering on Pang Meiqin’s beautiful legs, and eventually, he couldn’t resist any longer and carefully approached.

"Perfection!" Just as Bynum’s hand was about to touch the beautiful leg stewardess’s thigh, his gun was suddenly snatched away by the man next to him, followed by a grab of his hair, pulling the Hummer’s window swiftly closer in his field of vision.

Bang, Bynum’s head smashed into the glass, pouring into it, followed by a wave of dizziness. Before he could recover, he was grabbed by the collar of his jacket and yanked out.

The shards of broken glass scraped across the face of the villainous police officer, leaving a number of bloody trails, even embedding in his flesh, causing him to scream in pain.

"You bastards, do you know who I am? I am a policeman!"

"Idiot." Tang Zheng smashed Bynum’s head against the car wall again. This time the bridge of his nose broke, and blood spurted out.

Seeing the violent scene unfold, the extorted clients and abused prostitutes felt a deep satisfaction. However, they quickly made their escape. Their status inevitably made them cowardly and destined them to a life of being bullied.

"You dare insult the Group Leader, you must be tired of living!" Teng Yuangxiang lifted a foot and brutally kicked Bynum in the stomach. The sensation of his fatty flesh made her feel revolted.

Tang Zheng took a drag from his cigarette, finally lighting the cigarette butt completely, and pressed it against Bynum’s forehead. The flame singed the sweat and skin, making a sizzling sound.

Bynum, who liked to burn others, was tasting this sensation for the first time today, pain causing his legs to convulse.

Pang Meiqin pulled a police baton from Bynum’s belt and handed it to Tang Zheng.

"You’re looking for death!" Bynum struggled as he tried to reach for the walkie-talkie on his shoulder. The yellow button was the emergency call key. If an officer was in danger, he just had to press it, without speaking, and the command center would receive it and dispatch support.

Tang Zheng snatched it away, and with the baton whistling through the air, it struck the police officer’s hand squarely, causing him to shiver violently and scream in agony.

Teng Yuangxiang and Pang Meiqin stepped aside, giving Tang Zheng room to fully unleash his strength.

With a cigarette in his mouth, Tang Zheng violently lashed at Bynum: thighs, waist, shoulder—beating the flesh until it was shaking with bruises. The sound of his whipping mixed with screams carried far into the night.

A group of hippies on motorcycles passed by, howling, when they suddenly saw the scene and stopped, turning their heads in shock to stare at them.

In the night, a police car was parked nearby, and then a police officer was being pinned and beaten ruthlessly.

"It’s a blood-sucking maggot!" Someone recognized Bynum and immediately shouted. The other hippies, hearing this, perked up. This guy was a scoundrel whose reputation was utterly ruined in South City. Seeing him beaten, they all cheered uproariously.

"I’m going to notify others to come watch." One of the excited hippies, after taking a few photos, immediately started his motorcycle and sped away, shouting at the top of his lungs.

The beating continued, and the number of onlookers in the vicinity steadily grew—prostitutes, thugs, hooligans, and the scattered clients, as well as the shop owners. These people were commonly extorted by Bynum and were thrilled to see him being beaten. Gradually, the buzz of conversation died down, and even with hundreds gathered, there was silence.

Tang Zheng showed no grandiose airs or preachings, just a cold face as he fiercely struck Bynum.

The disturbance here naturally attracted the nearby policemen, all of whom drove over quickly, the piercing siren sound overwhelming everything, causing a brief chaos among the crowd.

"Disperse, all of you, and you thugs, stop immediately, or else I’ll shoot you dead," a middle-aged police chief got out of his car, leaned on the police car, and raised his handgun.

Some people were scared and wanted to leave, but many more remained where they were; and when they saw the policemen get out of their cars, they actually started applauding.

The sporadic applause started up and then grew more and more, finally becoming uniform and stretching into one piece—they were supporting Tang Zheng in this way.

The policemen looked at each other, surprised that their former sheep had all become disobedient, unsure of how to curry favor; they then looked to the police chief with the highest rank.

Martin was sitting in the police car, not wanting to get involved in this affair, just relishing the pleasant dinner time with excitement. Through an introduction from a friend, he had finally made contact with a police chief, and after stuffing half a million US dollars, he successfully met with a director.

Three million US dollars, an amount of bribery too large to refuse, directly influenced the retiring director, and all he had to do was sign an appointment letter, to fill a trivial position of a junior officer in the police station. To him, it was a matter of no consequence, as a number of policemen had recently died anyway, and they needed replenishment.

Having completed the task entrusted by the young man from the East, and even directly receiving a brand-new police uniform and equipment, Martin was ready to go to that boss to report the good news. Who knew, after dining together, the police chief wanted to accompany him, and Martin naturally didn’t dare refuse. He understood that the guy was ready to see if there was another opportunity to make a score.

"This should prove my ability, right?" Martin thought contentedly. After becoming Tang Zheng’s personal lawyer, he’d first go home and beat up that yellow-faced wife of his. Turning around, he then saw Tang Zheng beating up a police officer and was startled, jumping out of the police car.

The police chief was about to call for backup to disperse these buggers when he saw Martin anxiously waving at him.

"Don’t move! That man is my boss!"

"Hmm?" The police chief glanced at Tang Zheng, suddenly fired a few shots into the sky, subdued the applause, and then walked toward him.

Martin took a few steps, then turned back into the car to get the police uniform and equipment, holding it in his hands as he caught up.

Seeing the police chief and Martin following behind him, Tang Zheng dropped the police baton, straightened his clothes, and then threw his cigarette butt onto Bynum.

The villainous police officer was burned yet again, but he was passed out and had no sensation.

"Boss, this is Chief Connor," Martin hurriedly introduced.

"Hello, Chief, on behalf of the citizens of City of God, I thank you for your contributions to this city," Tang Zheng greeted, with an official-sounding tone.

"Why did you become a police officer?" Watching Tang Zheng’s slender fingers, Chief Connor shook hands with him. The young man had clear and steady eyes, which made him like Tang Zheng, reminding him of how he was when he first became an officer, full of ideals. It was a pity that over time, he had gradually been corrupted.

"Because I want to make this a true City of God!" Tang Zheng’s voice was resoundingly firm, filled with conviction and determination. Under the midnight glittering stars, it weighed heavily on everyone’s hearts.

On Long street, you could hear a pin drop, and it was utterly quiet as every eye was on Tang Zheng.

Tang Zheng’s expression didn’t change, but inside, he was figuring out how to play his role today to win them over.

The policemen did not speak, while Bynum regained consciousness from his coma.

"Chief? This guy is a drug dealer, a spy, a murderer. Get him arrested quickly," Bynum said, agitated, thinking that his support had arrived. He sneered at Tang Zheng after yelling, as if a vulture had spotted a tasty piece of venison, "Kid, I’m going to make your life a living hell!"

Bynum’s roar was like the wail of a dog that has lost its home. Tang Zheng ignored him and looked at Martin. The lawyer finally got the point and hurried over, shaking out the brand-new police uniform and draping it over Tang Zheng before handing him the police baton and handcuffs.

"You know what? I’m a police officer!" Bynum continued to try to intimidate Tang Zheng with his identity, but watching Martin’s actions, he froze, his mouth gaping like a dying fish gasping for water!

"Is that so? I’m sorry, but I’m also a police officer!" Tang Zheng took the silver police badge and attached it to his left chest pocket. Because it reflected the starlight, the badge looked even more sanctified and crystal clear!

"Bynum, spend the second half of your life in prison! I will arrange a very ’enthusiastic’ prison buddy for you!"

Listening to Tang Zheng’s domineering yet slightly mocking reply, cheers erupted suddenly on Long Street, as if welcoming a hero. However, in a flash, silence fell again, and the onlookers stared at Tang Zheng with complicated looks. He had taken down the villain Bynum, but who’s to say he wouldn’t become the next Bynum?

Tang Zheng offered no promises. He was just a junior officer, and the time to rise to higher position was yet to be seen.

"Chief Connor, don’t you want to give a speech?" Tang Zheng said, a touch of regret in his voice for not having time to gather intelligence on Connor. This could have made their meeting even more pleasant while diverting everyone’s attention to him.
